Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've just discovered what a cruffin is, and I am glad I did.

It's apparently a cross between muffin and a cronut, a cronut being a mix of a donut and a croissant. I don't get the croissant element as it's like a muffin shaped donut with the whole outside being that crispy donut sugar crunch. it was fecking lovely and it was full of posh passionfruit jam and it was the size of my head.

Ate a load of naughty food even though I was roasting.

Have cider in the fridge for later.

A recent video on youtube spurned people here who make KFC mix for trade to put out a version for home use. Anyway, that's what I have in my press. A 1kg bag of this. I have an air fryer I am waiting to use for this, however, I had some roast chicken in the fridge, there was nothing stopping me doing some gravy. Happiest man in the world!

A link to the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WJYOgzFydc

A link to the crowd here doing the mix for home users now. http://gracesperfectblend.com/

Just received a shipment of hot sauces from the "Hot Ones" You tube Channel line up. So will be experimenting with them over the weekend I think. Probably starting with a Beef strips and shrimps salad with some noodles and cashews thrown in for substance.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 11,647 Mod ✭✭✭✭igCorcaigh

Nice, let us know how they are please!

You could also post the review in the Hot Sauce thread?:

    Chicken dinner

I just made a random salad of grated carrots with toasted pumpkin seeds, a little bit of sesame oil, wine vinegar, sea salt, ground coriander and chilli flakes.

Was very nice, and I think I will play around with the flavour profile a bit more. Some fresh parsley would have been good.

This thread has gone very quiet recently.

Is everyone on a diet, or left because of the site update? C'mon Boardsies, I want to know what ye're eatin' and drinkin'!

Back in once again to delete my account but to no avail yet. But for what its worth and in the interest of what was a great thread I had roast beef, mash, stuffing, roasties, peas and roast carrot and parsnip. Gravy over parts of it. New boards is crap. Really crap. Keep the thread going if you can or start a new one on **** for the craic.

    Farewell for now!

Not in the mood for cooking again, so picked up some of the Balti House chicken Jalfrezi with pilau rice from Dunnes, which was selling off for €1.75 today. Pimped it with some cheese roti and cucumber salad. The curry is not bad at all for a ready meal; sauce is good, chicken quality is what you would expect.

Just curious igCorcaigh, what you will have for Christmas dinner , if you celebrate it?

(No offense intended if you don't.)

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 11,647 Mod ✭✭✭✭igCorcaigh

Oh, Mam of 4, I will call up to my parents for Christmas day. It will be them, myself, and perhaps my brother if he manages to travel home from Wales. My sister joins us then on St. Stephen's Day.

I'm not partial to turkey at all, so I will bring perhaps some fish, or something that can be cooked quickly, and will enjoy it with all of the rest of the sides and vegetables that my mam prepares. My dad likes sherry trifle, but without the sherry. I will avoid that part :)

Hoping you have a lovely Christmas meal with all of your family together. Will it be the traditional turkey? Anything special to eat planned?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,952 ✭✭✭✭Mam of 4

Ah igCorcaigh, I hope your brother manages to get home , it'd be great for you all to be together ☺Hope you all have a lovely time .

Fish sounds nice and light , sherry trifle , I love making it , don't eat it though!

Fingers crossed that we'll all be together in the one house this year , but sharing the cooking , so the turkey and stuffing is my contribution , and yes I was assigned that job! Nothing out of the ordinary cooking wise though!

Had half a roast chicken to use up , so cut it up into chunks and made a chicken lasagne , was delicious!

After finishing a roast beef, on sourdough, with Branston pickle, sandwich. Yum . Twill keep me going till the ham finishes boiling and I tuck into the mother of all sandwiches. Just need fresh bread

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,544 ✭✭✭✭cj maxx

Bought Dauphinoise ? potatoes . I had them some years ago when out in a posh restaurant with my now ex wife and her friends. We all got served our mains and started tucking in. The waiter put a bowl of these potatoes near my plate. Being a thick country eejit who loves spuds, I emptied the whole bowl on my already stuffed plate of steak and mash. I was then informed that the wee bowl of spuds was for the whole table ! I didn't give a shite. 😀
