I agree totally. I needed some time to get my head around a loss of my own recently. Not once did I think of turning to FB.

Using txtspeak whilst at a laptop or desktop really confuses me. It's fine in its own medium, i.e. texts or status update from a mobile. But if I'm at a decent computer keyboard, I much prefer typing to the best of my ability.

I guess it's just a pet hate of mine (or maybe I'm the one with the problem, I really don't know). Various people I'm friends with have a fine standard of English talking face-to-face. But I see some of their output from a computer keyboard and I feel like scratching my eyes out.

And I got this gem earlier:
