Was called last week too. They thought I'd a PD but if it was they'd be going in.

There's a recall on diesel lines that mines going in for today.

Got mine done yesterday and have a big problem. Mine is starting and driving but when you give it power it's shuddering, dropping off revs and eventually dying. Starts again after about 10 minutes. Dealer reckons the fuel pump was on its way out anyway.
Car was perfect yesterday before I left it in...

Arent you lucky that you held tough and did not spend a fortune...

Just to recap lads, Audi UK reimbursed me for the cost of my first injector failure that occurred a year before the second failure took place (the point at which Audi UK changed all 4). If anyone has stumped up for injector repairs out of their own pocket it might be worth a try looking for a reimbursement ;)

As far as I'm aware VW Ireland are now replacing injectors on affected models. If you call a main delaer with your chassis number, they will tell you to bring your car in and they will replace all 4 injectors foc.

*Update* Mine booked in for next week to get all 4 injectors and wiring loom replaced FOC under warranty.

Just reading about all these problems. Fuel pump recall, injector recall, I thought the Passat was a solid car

On Friday I was driving on the N3 when the car cut out, I started it again while it was still moving and went a smaill bit further until it stopped and wouldnt start again. I had to walk back to work and get someone to tow the car back to work
The car just wont tick over anymore. It is a 2008 2.0TDI Passat imported from the UK, when I try to start it I see the curly yellow sign flash until it says GARAGE!
Hopefully on Monday VW will come and take it away

back in end of june 2011 i had to get a replacement engine fitted in a 09 passat 1.9 tdi as a piece of the engine block broke off causing the engine to collapse. car had 25,400 miles of family driving done at time and was just out of warranty, vw offered new engine as jesture of goodwill but wanted 1650 euro in labour charges..
as a result of dealings with volkswagen ireland staff back then, i will definatly not be buying anymore VW cars..

star of the show in vw liffey valley hq was a guy called <snip>

Phone number for VW Ireland: 018989700

Best of luck getting any help from them. They'll just go through the motions of contacting the dealer and either blame them or "bad diesel"

Currently involved in a battle for reimbursement of costs of an injector which was replaced before the recall campaign.

<snip> seems to be the the VW Ireland head of customer services but did everything in his power to blame everything but the standard of VW vehicles. Even after the recall of the downright dangerous injectors.

VW Ireland were so bad, I took the car up north and dealt with Skoda UK who were more helpful.

With some regret, I will be selling my Octavia Vrs and will never grace a VW product again due to

1: Dealing with VW Ireland Customer Services was a horrible experience

2: The quality of VW vehicles, particulary diesels has gone downhill (2year warranty speaks volumes)

3: Despite posting record profits for last year, they do not give a fiddlers about the individual customer as they know the customer base is massive anyway

I brought my car into VW Casleknock on Monday and picked it yesterday with 4 new injectors free of charge. They could see on their website from my chasis number the car was recalled for injectors, when they took the second injector out the car started again. They replaced them all for free within 24 hours under the recall program

If it's the PD engine you should have been contacted. I got a call from my dealer regarding another recall within two days and a letter from skoda about a week after that. That recall was around the same time as them injector recall so if you haven't been contacted contact a dealer to be safe.

Simple way to know if you need injectors is check your engine code. If it's CEGA you've got a common rail which means you're in the clear. You might be subject to the fuel line damper recall though so I'd still give them a call.

Rang dealer today - there going to look at it in the morning to see if the injectors need changing- that was quick.

All we need now is a recall on the oil pump balance shaft. George will be doing mine when I get around to it..

Letter came today from skoda Ireland - about the recall. Total coincidence that I was in with dealer this morning - he has ordered new parts for my car- everyone will be getting the letter soon I reckon about the 2.0 tdi engine recall

Got my letter from Skoda on Friday, rang the dealer yesterday, they did the job this morning. Great service in fairness.

I have to say since the recall was issued for ROI they seem to have been very proactive in getting the injectors replaced which is good to see.

    Any improvment in power??

Got mine done last week. The dealer even washed the exterior and valeted the interior. I was well impressed.

On the power side I can see no difference, but I dont drive it very often. My wife drives this car most of the time.

One thing I find strange about this 'Recall' is that it isn't really a recall in that it's up to the owner of the car to go to VW rather than VW issuing a Recall letter (in my case anyway).

I got mine two weeks ago at this stage, after it had already been done after the dealer calling me. It was a different recall but issued at the same time. Some people are still getting letters so it might be a processing delay?

Definitely feels "fresher" when accelerating if that makes sense. Will be interested to see if my MPG changes a bit as some people found.

It is nice to have got this problem resolved by VW when you consider there is probably an abundance of people out there that paid lots of money to get this fixed at a VW specialist

The one thing was my car broke down a few metres from the garage and they charged me 60 euro to tow the car over. They said that VW would not pay for the towing of the car even though the car broke down because injector 2 failed and the engine management shut down the car

So is it only the 2.0Tdi models that are affected or are some of the 1.9s problematic too, my missus has a 05 (Aug) 1.9Tdi and if its need doing I'd rather be safe than sorry!

As far as i can tell... Its only the 2:0L PD VAG engine circa 2006-2008 that have the Siemens injectors need replacing. A quick phone call to local main dealer with Engine code and/or VIN number should clear it up.

On another note, got my Octavia Vrs back finally. Bar initial problems with the Tandem pump, it seems to be going well now with the upgraded injectors.

Will see how the MPG figures pan out.

Thanks for the info...missus passat is suffering a little MPG wise and I though this might be a contributing factor!

Hi all, having some injector issues with a VW Passat (dealer in Naas) and Im wondering if you guys have any advice?

Our car was inspected and repaired due to injector recall this week. Three of the four pump injectors were replaced. The reason the fourth wasn’t replaced was because we had to replace it last June 2011 when the car broke down in Portlaoise and had to be towed to a garage. This breakdown happened only three weeks after a full service check with the VW garage. The main reason we had asked for a service was due to the fact that we were having issues with starting the car. During the service we were told that this issue was due to a faulty cam shaft sensor which was subsequently replaced at a cost of €82.90 plus €245 in labour . When the breakdown occurred I called the VW garage first and was told that the breakdown had nothing to do with the service and that I would have to pay to have the car towed from Portlaoise to Naas to be looked at. I couldn’t afford to have the car towed to Naas and then repaired especially after having spent close to €1,500 in the VW garage three weeks previously. It is for this reason that the fuel injector was then replaced by a local Portlaoise garage and not in the cerfified VW garage.
I am extremely annoyed and frustrated to now discover that the breakdown was caused by an acknowledged Volkswagen fault and also that perhaps the cam shaft sensor was replaced unnecessarily.

All told we have spent €1,157.90 (€830 on replacing one pump injector (June 2011) and €82.90 parts and €245 labour (May 2011) on replacing cam shaft) on repairs due to this fault. We have basicially been told to F off by VW and at most we MIGHT get the cost of the part (not labor) reimbursed by them. Has anyone any suggestions on how to approach this with them?
