In hindsight... Say nowt until it's fixed!

Could be a better idea alright :p but I gave him the reg when I called to book it and he was able to bring it up from that (although they have serviced the car several times previously too). I did explain VW IRL's stance on the issue and asked 2/3 times if he was sure it'd be covered as a southern car but he was adamant it will be.

But yea, ringing a 3rd time might be pushing it.. no harm trying another dealer though. If someone else wants to try a NI dealer with their southern reg/chassis number it could be worth a try too.

I might try ringing Agnews tomorrow if I get time.

    Add me to the list as well. 06 B6 Passat 2.0Tdi. 2 injectors, and 2 looms, in........3 month's ? €800 each time........

Only a matter of time before it does it again. Will not be replaced by another VW, I assure you.......

I was told by garage that the loom is a sacrificial part, but not sure how true that is..........

Update......car went AWOL again - a mere 10 weeks after last injectors were fitted.

A lot of fupping and blinding by MD, who's car it is, and the car got another 4 injectors, loom and the (famous) steering rack, and it's back on the road again - all under warranty (miracle).

What a crock of ****. Anyone who thinks a Passat is a 'quality' car is deluded.

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Those faults aren't just limited to the Passat either. This is where VAGs platform sharing falls down in a major way.

Octavia, Superb, Golf, Leon, Jetta, A4, A3 etc. All affected by some or all of the common faults.

...there's a co A6, 2009, 44k kms, and it's lunched 1 x gearbox, and a DPF in recent weeks as well. Just been made DPF-free, iirc.

...but think of all the diesel/tax you're saving !!

...looking forward to getting a nice, rorty petrol, myself, next time around.

2007 Irish reg Skoda Octavia Vrs. Injectors went in July. VW Ireland were not budging.

Rang Skoda UK and spoke to a man called Dan Latta, week later car towed to a Belfast main dealer and is in process of 4 upgraded injectors and wiring loom FOC...

But only this morning i received a phone call from the Irish main dealer i usually use stating that my car is due replacement injectors due to a re-call.......

Told them it was being sorted in NI regardless..

3months ago i told VW Ire that there was a serious issue with the Piezo injectors, they told me bad diesel and would not be covering anything..

    Some turn around

I remember reading your thread! That's good news, hope you get reimbursed for any work carried out though!! Some pain in the balls I'd say, luckily mine haven't gone yet.

I emailed Agnews today, will await their reply and then contact my local VW dealer to see what their story is...

Yup, took 3 months but at circa. €600 an injector plus labour etc to only cost was time. Suppose she was not putting up mileage while laid up (49000miles so still relativity low)

Yeah, that'll be by next battle, replaced one injector few months ago and a crank shaft position sensor went in to her too for some reason. But gonna look to claim that back, least for the injector and labour..

Must say the service in Ireland is very poor, both from VW hq in Dublin and from the Main Dealers.

Hopefully will have it back by end of the week..

Most modern diesels will need to have the dmf replaced at some stage so the toyota will need it repalced some time down the road also......

VW have just issued a recall for injector problem . Modifed injectors were only available from 2011 onwards so any injectors replaced before that , chances are they are the unmodifed type.

Slightly late reply I know but just to update..

Just back from VW Enniskillen this evening with (among a lot of other things - damn high mileage/commuting :() 4 new injectors, replaced under the VW UK recall programme.

Good thing too because she'd recently started "surging" at speed in 4th just before she'd eventually shift into 5th (for example when overtaking she would drop down to 4th from 6th and then struggle to get back up) and there was apparently a fault showing on injector 2 when they hooked it up today.

Still, all seems to be running much better - just need to get a few other bits done that they didn't have the parts for today (wear and tear stuff) and she should be good to go.

Cheers :) At least it's done now and apparently not a moment too soon.

Just to confirm for anyone less familiar with the details - mine is a 06 2.0 TDI Passat with DSG gearbox and an original Irish-reg car, so hopefully anyone having issues or concerns will at least be able to get it checked/done by a NI dealer if necessary.

Well I gave her a good run on the N3 coming into/out of Cavan and she certainly seems to be running very smooth, quieter, and no more "surging"

I did get virtually all the fluids and filters changed though (my poor wallet :() so that's no doubt helped too but it'll get a proper motorway run in the morning when I go to work so that'll be the real test I suppose.. will keep ye posted anyway :)

    Can't hurt to check... Donnelly VW - 028 6632 4712

Just make sure you say you want Service in Enniskillen to the girl that answers - I made that mistake before and ended up having to drive to their place in Dungannon because they'd booked it in there instead.

(I did get a nice 06 diesel Merc E320 to play with for the day though so it wasn't all bad! :p)

    No, UK import.

As far as I'm aware VW Ireland are now replacing injectors on affected models. If you call a main delaer with your chassis number, they will tell you to bring your car in and they will replace all 4 injectors foc.
