Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I just bought a 1TB hard drive and installed it inside the Vu+. This drive is accessible over my LAN.

I'm sure it's possible to map a PC drive, though I'd be wary of throughput not being enough?

I'd have reservations too, especially wiritng High Def content to a networked hard drive on a 100BaseT network.

Guys a stupid question but I can not get with my Tring card or Sky card to read in this box. I have had many dreamboxs and never a problem. Any ideas I am going mad. I am using the dream elite image and have tried cccam 2.1.4 and cccam/newcs and nothing. I have created new configs just in case and still can not read any cards. As soon as they go in my dreambox 800 all is fine, its the exact same configs what gives. I bought the box of Slegs by the way. Do the cards go in with the chip facing down like the dreambox.

    Thanks Guys

    Yeah, the chips face down.

Slots work OK for me, though I've only used SECA and Viaccess cards, not sure about Conax.

I'm using OpenPLi with CCcam 2.1.4

Thx Byte looks like I need to buy a conax cam for the tring card according to Alsat forum

Love this box lads, still waiting for my new dish to go up but went ahead and installed a Seagate 1TB Hard drive inside the receiver, flashed it with Dream Elite BH 1.3.3 and eventually got my sky card working properly including the sports channels which was a pain til I figured it out. Dish is going up on Tuesday so I'll be cancelling Sky and popping the Cyfra card in there. Great box, I like the image I've chosen but can't compare it to any others as its my first linux box. A couple of the plug ins are buggy like Mytube but I'll have a another play with it after work.

    What is a cyfra card?

And what is a tring card?

    Thanks!

Id be surprised but it may be the case. Normally its the software emu (in this case cccam) that does all the work. Have you edited the cccam.cfg file to recognise your card reader?

The Dream Team-Elite announced that the forum closed indefinitely. The cause of this closure can be temporary or permanent is perhaps due to family problems and personal some of its members and given the great harmony of the team, other members have decided to stay for solidarity at every activity, we hope that things can improve in the future and to have the serenity to return to do what we have done until now. Wasn't there rumour and subsequent denial a few weeks back from the Dream Elite team that they were being snapped up to work exclusively for Dream Media? Seems fairly coincidental that they have shut up shop like this!

I'm tempted to try it, but wary of losing all my settings etc.

Does it have CCam 214 support? I think it only comes with version 213?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,233 ✭✭✭irishchris

no need to worry bout settings if you backup with dreamedit. really is a doddle with the way they have everything setup in this image! it has ccam 2.1.4 as well as oscam and 2.1.3 - i checked there for you mate

And if it didn't, just do a manual install of the ipkg.

is anyone else having issues with bouquets/Channel numbers with the new VIX image?
I have all my channels but the numbering is all over the place! Tried using B16mCC for sly and if I input 101 on my remote it takes me to Sly 3D on 217????
I have 2 sets of channel numbers showing in my EPG now? Any Ideas folks?

No problems with channel numbers here. I hava a custom set made from Catseyes latest which i uploaded when I flashed the new image.

I am having a slight problem with recordings glitching but I think that may have something to do with a setting somewhere

Ok, I think I have figured out why my channel numbers are getting messed up. When I use dbedit to load on my bouquet it drops my placeholder channels!
This wasn't an issue with the DE image as I downloaded the bouquet from the addons menu but db edit seems to drop the placeholder info on upload.....
Anyone know how to get round this?

I got this issue sorted by FTPing channel buoquets directly into Enigma2 folder :)

On a different note, I'm running my box into a Sony STR DG910 Amp but for some reason I can't get genuine surround sound/Dolby?
The amp will matrix the feed but I can't get the multichannel indicator/Blue light Indicating Surround sound......
Anyone have any idea where i'm going wrong?

How are yis enjoying your VIX images?

I'm a bit wary of installing it at the moment, as I'm not convinced it's better than OpenPLi.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,163 ✭✭✭fish fingers

Iv gone from dream elite to the vix, really like it. Very clean layout , not too cluttered. Would def recomend.

Not familiar with DE, but they're gone now anyway, support wise.

Just more curious as to how it stands against OpenPLi or even VTi images, plugin/UI friendliness wise.

I've tried VIX and its a great looking image with fantastic EPG but I switched back to OpenPLI.
I had issues with crashing to green screen from CoolEPG and from CCcam 2.14 when altering settings that while not major were an annoyance.
I will be moving to VIX image as soon as the next update is released though, as a first attempt from the team there it is fantastic, as soon as they add some functionality/drivers for WLAN and some other bits I want along with skins and plugins to their FTP servers it really will be the best image available for the Vu +(In my opinion at least ;) )

I shall await to see what the update brings and maybe try it then.

I assume it's possible to back up all my settings for use on VIX, as damned if I wanna set up from the start again?

Are you using the Vu+HD skin?
Anything else, including the other three skins included will cause crashes in coolepg and softcam.

I had tearing at top of the screen when hitting coolepg but no green screens, now I don't get teh tearing at all (don't know why)
VIX are recoding coolepg so I expect to see that fixed in v1.1

One thing I can't get to work is the plugin nfibackup so I'm winging it without a complete backup of the image. It's available on the plugin server, downloads etc but doesn't appear anywhere afterwards.

I'm happy enough to stay with it as i can reflash and send over my sat settings in a few minutes.

I think besides it being clean and uncluttered, the autotimer plugin has been reworked and now acts almost like sky+ which is a big positive - that's what's keeping me on this image.

Once they have the plugin/skin server set up properly and tweak the epg, it will be bye bye openpli for good for me (though that is a great image too)

Yes, use dreamset or dreamboxedit to back up your sats/bouquets from current image then ftp back after you flash VIX.
You can use DCC to backup and restore your timers etc.

Yeah I stuck with the VIX default skin as I knew there were issues with other skins and in fairness it is a fairly decent skin anyway.

I think come version 1.1 it will be the goto image for most people:-)
