Prison Break

First 2 episodes of this show aired in the U.S. last night, my nice cousins sent them to me.
It looks really promising, the first 2 episodes just set it up for the rest of the season basically, introducing characters (you'll recognise a lot of the faces from other t.v. shows) and stories.
From what I gather so far, the main guy intentionally gets himself thrown in the same prison as his brother, who is being executed in a months time, and is trying to get him out. I think it's going to be a one of series, 22 episodes in total, and I recommend people start watching it!

It's on Fox. It'll probably be cancelled in a month.

I see. Will it be shown in Ireland...? Sounds good anywho.

Was the first episode the same as the pilot which has been around for a couple of months?

Its not getting great reviews, and its on Fox...... Try not get too stuck into it.

Having said that, I just watched the first 2 episodes.... they were very very good. There is surprising depth to the story (all the stuff going on outside the prison), and the stuff inside the prison is very good too (rival gangs, allegiances, schofields 'knowledge').

I liked it alot (but that worries me, because of Fox...)

I got both eps from "cousins",havn't watched them yet,but I'm not sure about getting invested in a show when its on FOX. The ratings were good for the pilot though,it just depends on how they hold up in the coming weeks.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,388 ✭✭✭Cina

Aye, there will only be one season, the writers confirmed that already. They have 22 episodes planned so lets hope FOX let them continue, cause I did enjoy the show, nothing amazing, but good entertainment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,373 ✭✭✭Irishpimpdude

    yes its great :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,788 ✭✭✭tvnutz

Why dont I believe this one season thing,if it gets very good ratings all season they probably will bring it back in some form. I remember people saying 24 would only be one season because of its concept.

Just watched the first episode, about to watch the 2nd in a min, very good so far. I just wonder how they will keep it up for an entire season.
The tatoos on his body were amazing in that they were the blueprints of the prison.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,989 ✭✭✭✭Giblet

Episode 3 was good but I don't like the way something always prevents him from doing what he is doing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,373 ✭✭✭Irishpimpdude

yeah that gets a bit annoying... though have to hand it to fox its a great show!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,788 ✭✭✭tvnutz

I guess that is how they will drag it out for 22 eps!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,067 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Yeah.. watching it as it's been airing. I actually really like it. Some fantastic acting in it especially from the two leads: Michael and 'Linc The Sink'! :D Also, Peter Stormare as Abruzzi is always watchable! Though some poor acting at times from Sucre and Veronica.

    And
who didn't cringe at the end of episode 2 with Abruzzi and his gang about to slice off Michael's baby toe?
It seems to me so far they have employed somewhat of a cliffhanger for the end of every episode..

    Episode 1:
The blueprints of the prison designed into his tattoos
    Episode 2:
Will Michael's toe be sliced off?
    Episode 3:
Will Michael's new cellmate sleep disorder prevent him from digging in the cell?

I think if they can pull off this drama keeping it exciting for 22 episodes.. it could possibly be one of the best new shows of the year!

I hope you're being sarcastic. :p I was taken with the idea but I have seen better acting in Thunderbirds. Couldn't face any more of it. That said some people will enjoy it and ignore the acting. As posted earlier it is hard to see how this can run given the restriction on it
    Forthcoming execution
and it could just as easily be cancelled.

For once I have to disagree with basquille... Michael and Lincoln are so wooden they should come with fire hazard stickers. Its the plotting and story (and cute doctor Sara) that I enjoy.... :)

Episode 4 advanced the story considerably, and was excellent TV. Great cliffhanger too. I'm intrigued to know what exactly
the toothpaste corrosive was used for in the surgery
. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

Its only a matter of episodes before
Haywire realises what 'the maze' represents too....
    .

Seen the first 2 episodes a couple of weeks ago, will watch the other 2 later on this week. I thought that it was pretty good, I definitely want to keep watching them now anyway. I just hope that Fox don't go and cancel the show like somoene was saying at the start of the thread.

Yea, I watched the first 3.... It was good.

Great stuff, all of those tense moments that make your heart beat really fast :D anyone else want the smug secret service agents to be in a horrible accident that removes their testicles??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,248 ✭✭✭digiman

Each episode is getting better and better. The tension is excellent, just want to keep watching this show. How is it doing on FOX, I presume it is doing well, i just hope that they will not cancel it.

P.S. Anyone have a link to what days all the primetime US shows are on, like Lost, Prison Break, Scrubs, The O.C. , Smalleville etc ?

how long can the show go on for??? + also with fox over it...so

mmmmm will it last the whole season!!

its definitly the best "new" show of the year (obviously behind lost season 2) :):)

Watched episode 6 there today, another excellent one, can't wait to see the next one now, they even ended the episode with
    to be continued

What is the policy in this thread for writing about stuff that happened in the episode, do we need to use spoilers, I don't think that there is any need but what do the rest of you think?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,557 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Yeah, I'd say use spoilers. Some people may not get the episode (or watch it) for several days after air date.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,989 ✭✭✭✭Giblet

It was a great episode! This show is probably one of my favourites now:D

Episode 6 was brilliant. Several large cans of worms were opened.... Wow wow wow....
    What a show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,067 ✭✭✭✭Basq

    FANTASTIC!!!

... this show keeps on getting better with this week's being the best so far!
How nerve racking was the lockdown situation?!
The episode was absolutely gripping stuff from beginning to end.

    Excellent stuff!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,248 ✭✭✭digiman

I know that this could potentially strike up a whole debate, but I think that the first 6 episodes of Prison Break have been as good as the first 6 of Lost. I know that they are 2 completely different types of shows but have to say that Prison Break is as good as Lost is, but I think that Lost is slighly better at the minute but only because I have seen the whole thing and the start of season 2.
Its hard to see how they could make a second series of Prison Break either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,557 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

No debate from me, digiman. It has been the strongest start to a series since Lost Season 1. There hasn't been a weak episode yet. Some things happened last night which I would have expected much later in the season. The good thing about Prison Break is that you don't know what is going to happen next.....

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,388 ✭✭✭Cina

And people actually doubted me! it's a wonderful show though, some critics are putting it down as a teenage version of Oz which is a joke as it's completely different to it. Oh and for about the 10th time, there is only ONE series consisting of 22 episodes, there will not be a 2nd series!

Is it anything like Oz in anyway does anyone know?

Just watched Monday's episode, great stuff, loving this show now. I hate to be continued though :p

OK so this episode reminded me of Oz - Season 1 finale (there was a riot then too) but, given that was one of my favourite ever episodes of any show, that's no bad thing :)

Some damn decent revelations about Michael's plans this week (love the devil tatoo concept!) and great further progressions. Because of its sheer cohesiveness, I've not enjoyed the first six episodes of a show so much since... I can't even remember!

FOX's "Prison Break" isn't ending anytime soon as the network has ordered a full season of 22 episodes of the freshman drama, a network source confirmed today.

The news comes as the series heads for a brief two-week hiatus following its October 3 airing.

It's not clear how FOX plans to roll out the back-nine order as it previously indicated "House" and season five of "24" would take over Monday nights beginning in January.

In any case, the current batch of 13 episodes is set to wrap at the end of the November sweeps period. It remains to be seen if the nine remaining installments will continue to run on Monday nights or turn up at some point next year as a fill-in for any potential schedule holes.

FOX is expected to provide additional details when it formally announces the news tomorrow.

Haven't started watching yet, but good news for when I do :)

Thats good news alright, would have hated for Fox it to have ended before it should have. Another 16 episodes to go as well.

Just had two little "Prison Break" related moments tonight which i'm be thrilled to share with ye! :D...

    - spotted Michael Schofield (Wentworth Miller) in a Mariah Carey video earlier on one of the ever-so-crappy MTV pop stations! ** shudder **

    - anyone else notice Haywire in last Tuesday's episode of "My Name Is Earl" .. funnily enough playing an ex-con?! :D

its nothing like Oz at all despite the, ye know, whole being in prison bit :o, but seriously its just not anything like it. I'd compare Oz more to Lost to be honest :|

    Both fantastic however.

Ok so i know there are alot of lost followers on this board.... (the uh..slightly religious sigs kinda gave it away) and while i think lost is a great show (of what saw...damn summer job - cousins are sending me the series) first 6 of prison break pisses all over first 6 of lost. no question. two very different shows i know, but for sheer tension, this is the show to watch. and yes secret service must die.
anyone else see the project justice lawyer/traitor thing from a mile away? got that impression from the start..but is he really a baddy? i say so. sonofabitch aint to be trusted.
