Fact that it’s snowing in Dublin suggests we have a good few hours left

What a crappy inconvenient weather event the last few days has been.

Gimme some sunshine any day of the week. This has to be the most grey depressing winter on record. It’s constantly raining. Or it’s super cold and windy and raining. No snow just pretend stuff that doesn’t stick which is worse than normal rain tbh.

Its been a rough night in Castlebar, heavy icy rain causing power lines to come down, lots of power gone. Roads brutal to. However, the thaw has set it . Normal service resumed by this evening i.e wet and windy

Been like that all morning here, feel the same!
Today is supposed to be my long run day, too much of a wimp to go out in that muck though!

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Decent dumping of snow in Letterkenny, haven't been out yet but looks to be about 5cm on the ground & still coming down

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 2,254 ✭✭✭Nqp15hhu

Bit confused as to how the same suspects on netweather have six inches and we only have two cm. maybe it’s been snowing there for longer.

But it’s always them two that get the big dumping. Would love for somebody else in NI to get a dumping instead of them. Share it out!

Still pure snow down the road in D18.

Hoping to hang onto the lying snow for a few hours

Snow, sleet, ice, graupal, a mix of everything in meath so far, hopefully the clearance leads to some sunshine to get rid of this stuff

Bit of a slushy mess in Ashford. Annoyingly the dewpoint is 0.1 ° with 1.4° air temp. Still. Not complaining!!

Now we have pure ice! I hope that’s not the end of the snow.

Still coming down hard in South Down, about a foot in drifts

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 2,254 ✭✭✭Nqp15hhu

How can someone have six Inches and me only 2cm under the same band?

Does altitude really make that much of a difference when it’s subzero? Or is there some orographic light going on?

    Thank you Kermit

Hope ye dont get sore necks looking at that pic

Some people love to exaggerate depths or conveniently measure in drifts.

    10 am Ulster depths

    7 cm Castlederg
    6 cm Thomastown
    1 cm Lough Fea

No snow in Kilkenny either yesterday or overnight :( but bitterly cold and windy. We got a few sleety showers and a light dusting that was gone in minutes. Probably some on higher ground alright.

An unusual satellite pic at the moment.....is that a cloudless streak?
