Here’s the reply I got today:
‘We are working towards having the results issued as soon as we possibly can. As you can appreciate the current crisis has slowed down our processes to a degree. However we will have them as soon as possible and you will be notified of your results through your message board.’

Thanks for contacting them. So could be today.. or anytime in next few weeks :D Suitably vague in true PAS style!

Either today or the August Bank Holiday weekend. They do love a good bank holiday.

They did give an order of merit (it was in the opening paragraphs) but stated score when they were saying who they were taking forward.

They took about 1000 forward in batch 1.

    Apologies they did

PAS are reading this thread and are saying - when it starts to get rowdy, we'll release the results :D

Only joking, best of luck everyone and hopefully we all get called, placed and appointed

    Here is the normal layout

Further to your completion of Stage 1 (online Situational Judgement Questionnaire and Aptitude Tests) in respect of your candidature for the above campaign, I wish to inform you that you did not reach the qualifying standard and therefore you will not be invited to the next stage of the process.

Candidates were required to reach the qualifying standard in each test in order to qualify.

Your scores in the tests were as follows:

    Situational Judgement Questionnaire
    Qualifying Score 40
    Your Score 39

    Verbal Analysis
    Qualifying Score 42
    Your Score 62

    Numerical Analysis
    Qualifying Score 40
    Your Score 65

The Maximum score in each test is 80

I would like to thank you for your participation in the selection process and wish you the best for the future.

    Yours sincerely,

    Marie Hayes
    Public Appointments Service

Were these your actual scores? Very narrow miss on the situational judgement. The other two look very decent of course it always depends on how everyone else got on.

Thanks for the update from PAS doesn't sound like it will be any time soon. Hope I'm wrong. Have a nice weekend everyone

They were but it's the Situational Judgement is where I always fall down - may as well get 10 in them all than miss by one point (and they were my best scores:D I wasn't giving the other lower ones:P)

I have an issue with the transparency of situational judgment marking (the others are fine, reasonably good idea of where I went wrong) yet after the last competition I asked the public appointments service for feedback and got no joy. I asked even for a overall feedback (not question specific)...such as taking in too much/little responsibility with issues.

I’m afraid this year could be another black box on this one.

    Best of luck to all,

Really wish they would get the results out now at this stage, if must be 4 weeks by now is it? I know current situation might have a lot working from home etc but this is starting to feel a bit much

  • Registered Users Posts: 90 ✭✭midfield dynamo

Jesus folks. The results will be out when PAS decide to send them out. Peppering on a forum isn't going to make them come out any quicker.

Just sit back and relax in the fact that you put your name in the hat. Worry about the results when they come out.

From doing a few of these comps the best advice is just to forget about it the results come whenever they come! It took me 18months from application to appointment for my first appointment I live in the north west and was high enough on panel batch 1! Things move VERY slowly best to just put it to the back of your mind if you can!

And best of luck to everyone!

Does anyone know how many AP jobs there will be in Cork/Kerry. Rughly based on previous years how many were there ? Just throwing it out there if anyone might know have an idea. Understand it will be based on demand, people leaving etc

Very few, if any. The majority of these roles are Dublin based and it's near impossible to get a transfer out of Dublin with so many ppl wanting it.

To the best of my knowledge there was only 3 appointments off the open and inter-departmental from the 2018 comp for Cork. A lot of AP posts went to internal comps and Dublin.

Only hope now for regional candidates, I think, is to take a Dublin post and hope for wfh opportunities.
I know a couple of recent appointees who got lucky this way.

Or take it and hope that something happens. Some shady $hit has been happening in my department recently. A new AP post was created for someone and it wasn't advertised for lateral transfer which is what always happens. Another AP transferred out of Dublin after only a couple of months despite a supposed restriction for a 2 year period on promotion.

ALL internal movements are up to departments HR, there's no mobility rules for AP. It take it some bypass the lists if PO's onboard

I've saw it were a department wanted to keep staff they found a way(created post). The managers generally know if someones on a panel and if they want to stay

That might be the case but this is probably the first and only post in the last 10 years that wasn't offered as a lateral transfer first. Also the waited for this persons number on the panel to be next before the new job was invented. It's ine of the most unfair things I've seen since i started. Peed off a lot of people too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,812 ✭✭✭Addle

That happens in my department too.
    It’s the same everywhere.
Not the kind of practice I’ll ever benefit from unfortunately!

I don't know, but Kerry might have a few with shared services - payroll, department of agriculture, tourism etc. In killarney. Revenue in Kerry does not seem to have many at this level, the problem is there are so many panels to choose from. The last panel may have been lucky with the garda station recruiting civil servants at HEO and AP level. There are a few in Revenue anyway due to retire. 6 weeks on Thursday since this window opened, so fingers crossed the results will be out this week.

Do you know if revenue recruit from this campaign too or is it from the separate campaigns they run?

Revenue recruit from both, but would have specialist panels as well, a lot of it is luck I think. They have to give this panel their turn, but sometimes they owe numbers to other panels etc.

Going to jump on the bandwagon and ask if there were many previous positions for Westmeath ?

I just got an email saying "You have successfully updated & submitted your application for the position of Assistant Principal".

I haven't updated anything since application and there is no message when I log in. Strange.

Is that just an old email that is filtering through - I got that on an old email account months after is was sent

It could also be that it wasn't uploaded on their system and it was held suspended and someone in PAS has just uploaded manually - that would suggest that they haven't even begun looking at the forms, so we could be waiting a while :(

Not an old email address, it's the one I set up the account with in April. Who knows - all we can do is wait. Good luck.

I got the impression from reading the application guidelines that the forms wouldn't be looked at until the oom from the online tests was compiled.

Perhaps this means they are actually doing something with the competition! It's 5 weeks now. I don't think I've ever been waiting this long for stage 1 results. I know we have the added constraints of COVID but surely alot of this is automated??
    Bah! Fed up waiting!

Open competition result just in. I got a total score of 126 and passed all tests. It says those who score 126 and higher are to be called to the next stage. Looks like I just scraped through.
