Ah to be fair, it was quite clear on the Three website and they mailed you a letter stating the increase..

Where exactly was it on the three website? There was a notification about the roaming changes but none about the price increase for bill pay customers.

I only got the s8 this morning and got text this afternoon and got out of contract and can keep the phone.

Curious to know how you were able to get the s8 almost a week before it's out on general release, also the three website states a price 'from €299 so how did you manage to get it for €99 also?

I got one two days ago, you could pre order and get it 8 days early. Haven't seen it anywhere for €99 though so I took the replies from that poster with a very large pinch of salt!

To be fair, it's not obvious but I would have thought a letter would have been sufficient, if anything, more important as most people don't even get paper bills, so something in the mail from 3 addressed to you = important.
they send their bills monthly by post so no it didn't stand out. Why not a text?

Well help me out here, where on the Customer Notification page does it indicate the recent price increases for billpay customers?

Went into shop to swap over to prepay and yer man couldn't believe it either they gave me a s8 & also out of contract. Just extremely lucky or someone messed up big time.

Exactly. The only way you would have known about a price increase via the website is if you were trying to take out a new contract.

Got the text last week, cancelled my contract and went sim only. Delighted. Not getting tied into an expensive contract again. If I want a new phone in the next few months I'll just buy it outright.

Just got the magic text message and I was originally an o2 customer! Delighted as I've wanted to move due to terrible 3g and 4g coverage.. as well as not been able to get edge once it just drops completely! Obvious choice is to move to vodafone but their phones are super expensive on the 40quid contract and the 60quid one is pretty expensive... the things I do to have good internets!

Whats the options folks for a cancellation ?

    1. Stay on a 20 per mth SIM only PAYG
    2. Stay on rolling contract for 30 per month
    3. Move to alternative provider

Virgin mobile (who use the 3 network) have a €5 a month deal for 5 months for existing BB/TV customer then upto €25 but it's a 30 day contract.

I have had to deal with Virgin customer support a few times since switching over, and i have to say they've been amazing. The issue wasn't even theirs, but they tried their best to help me out, giving me follow up calls etc. Very impressed. Can't go wrong with the price either.

I called that 1800 81 80 21 number to cancel my contract. They have offered me 2 months for free, which I gladly accepted. I will cancel my account before this expires and go to another operator at a much lower cost. Im looking at a saving of 60%. No brainer

I cancelled yesterday as an O2 legacy customer. I'm going to move to Eir on a new contract with a new phone instead, I'm sick of Three's coverage (or lack thereof).

Are you sure you will still have the option to cancel at the end of the two free months. I thought you had to cancel within 30 days of they notifying you of the change to contract.

I think without hearing from the poster if they are still in contract and they accepted the two months free they are still in contract albeit with two free months but won't be able to cancel at the end of the two months.

When I cancelled they offer me loads which I declined. I did however take an upgrade shortly after!

I cancelled my 3 contract following notice of the price hike and went to sim only - €30 per month. As my iPhone 5s which I had got from 3 as an upgrade kept giving me trouble although it was just one year old and past guarantee by one month(!), I decided to look at other options as I was also tired of Virgin price hikes for TV, broadband and home phone at €89 per month. I went over to Eir, traded in my iPhone 5s for iPhone 6s for €75, and switched everything else as well. I got an 18 month contract - home phone, mobile, TV and broadband for €109 per month. Will wait to see how good it is. Have heard from a friend that their customer service isn't so good!

Fairly certain taking the free months is deemed acceptance of the new terms, so you no longer have the right to cancel and your contract will run through on the modified terms until at least its original end date.

Unless you are on an old o2 plan, I'm afraid not.

Yeah, just sign up for the €5 deal and order your SIM from Virgin, then you can port your number across once you have the SIM.
