Yeah, just sign up for the €5 deal and order your SIM from Virgin, then you can port your number across once you have the SIM.

How do u keep your number when moving providers?

Once you are out of contract you just tell your new provider that your old number is and they do all the work for you no need to contact three the new provider does it all.

Virgin have an online form you fill out, number comes across almost instantaneously. Have done it for two different numbers.

I got no notification, but if you ask Three on here or twitter they will confirm it

I got no notification either!! Did you contact them re cancelling your contract? I tried today and I got no where I've emailed them now waiting on reply. Is it too late now to cancel without extra charge?

I got some kind of bill for 33 euro in the post from Three. I cancelled on the 10th. Not sure why they didnt just debit it from my account if it was partial payment of my monthly dues. They had no problems debiting any sum from my account before if it went over the 40 euro and so that I was paying monthly for my old plan.

Are you sure its a bill and not a credit they owed you after canceling?

This just reminded me that 3 hadn't paid me out my outstanding credit. Just got in touch on live chat, and they owe me €50. Not bad.

I was a way from home for the last 8 weeks didn't realise there was any changes to my contract. I never get letters/bills off of three always texts and emails so for someone who travels a lot how was I suppose to know this when I wasn't at home?! Have I any leg to stand on with cancelling the contract now??

If when you got back home there was no letter then you might have a chance to get out of contract. Make a fuss with three then make a formal complaint (online webform) then follow up with comreg.

You have until the 3rd May to cancel your contract with out penalty. they extended the offer.

Are you sure? Someone I know tried last week, they said no. Only O2 customers can cancel now, AFAIK.

Does anyone know if these contract changes will apply to Meteor also, I heard this morning they are also jacking up the price the way three did.. My question is.. Should Meteor customers also be able to leave their contract without penalty.

I am prepay and was back with 3 long before they bought O2 and I'm going by the text they sent me on the 1st April that I thought applied to all 3 customers:

CONTRACT CHANGE: Reissue of notice - a change of effective date from 3 Apr to 15 May. Reminder Prepay changes: Period of benefits with EUR20 top up will reduce from 30 to 28 days. Free weekend off network calls removed from the promotion. For all changes incl. EU roaming price increases, connection fee and how to cancel see http://bit.ly/2nm4wsj. If you don't accept the changes, you've the right to cancel your service within 30 days before 3 May without penalty. Effective date 15/5/17.From Three

Even the original text they sent out might have been interpreted it was 30 days effective the 3rd April. But maybe it is only for prepay?

The same rules apply to Meteor as to three so yes if Meteor break the contract they have with you by increasing the price you can get out of contract and can keep the phone.

    Cheers.
I'll have to watch the space, I read on the times online edition that they were changing contract pricing. I haven't received notification yet but I'll give it time.

Depends on what contact your on, meteors new plans come with 1gb of data for EU roaming so if your on one of those I wouldn't expect it to change but any of the older plans where an add on is required will legally require a change of T's & C's. Expert all the networks to be doing something urgently as it has to be implemented by mid June. If the law was implemented right now Meteor/Eir are in breach of it.

I'm a customer at least 8 years on my current contract.

When you upgrade you sign new T's & C's or verbally agree to them. All depends on what you signed into when you last upgraded, not sure how long those plans with the 1gb of EU data are out.

Basically you are like everyone one of us. Let's wait until the deadline and see what they do.

They need to do it in the next 9 days..thought it would have happened a month ago or more.
With ID and Virgin it looks like they bill the phone separate from the plan, wonder will that mean their customers will be able to get out of the contract but still have to pay for the phone. Should be an interesting 2 weeks..

Do I have to notify three I'm leaving?

What if I just contact Vodafone and port my number over?

If you are in contract then your number will be locked which will prevent Vodafone from taking control of it.

If you are out of contract then you can port away any time you like.

Either way you'll get a final bill for 30 days. If you call and cancel you can use your phone on three for the 30 days then port away so you don't end up with two bills for the same 30 day period.

So I'm due an upgrade with my current contract, was waiting until my upgrade was due, which was only since Sunday, before I cancelled my contract bit didn't realise that 3rd of May (tomorrow) was the end date for this.

Now, if I go in store tomorrow and pick up my new upgrade, let's say a Samsung S8, could I possibly cancel my contract then and either move to a sim only plan with Three themselves, or with another network??

Oh well. Didn't think I'd be that lucky anyway.

Just out of curiosity, my 24 month contract is up in July, so if I upgrade to get a new phone now, does that mean I'm signing up to a new 24 month contract or can I let it off til July and change/cancel my contract??

I've been trying to get a clear answer form Three but they are god awful impossible to deal with
