Oh jaysus, the embarrassment. Had been looking at the alarm settings within the clock app. went into general setting - sounds and for some reason the alarm volume was set to 0!!

Thanks. I may still try another third part one to see what they are like. Anyone got any recommendations?

    Thanks for the help.

I use talking alarm clock and set it to shout abuse at me until I get up! It seems to work!

Anyone know if the Bluetooth hack fix was included?

No mention of it anyways. I'd be more interested in a WPA2 KRACK vulnerability fix anyways.

Anyone aware why the OnePlus 3T has two applications for contacts?

I presume one is a Google contacts app and the other is a device contacts app?

That being I said, I've noticed that if I I edit or delete a contact on either app, it applies also to the other.

Any idea the purpose of having two? Is it safe to delete one? If so, which one?

    Thanks

I only have one contact app in my phone. You may have installed another one.

Looks like I have got an issue with my Oneplus 3T. Somehow when I plug is to my laptop, neither the laptop recognizes it nor the phone.

Before when I used to plug in I could see the phone in window explorer. Also in the phone there will be an option to select if I want to transfer files.

It changes with the cable fine. I have tried with 2 different cables. Same result.

Does that mean the phone USB port has some issue?

I am going on holidays so I was looking to transfer some files. Music / videos etc.

They both connect to the same data source: your Google contacts, which are stored online.

One is the app supplied with the phone. You won't be able to uninstall this one (without root), but you should be able to disable it. The other is probably the Google Contacts app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.contacts. You can uninstall it if you want, but it's more likely to get updates/new features

No, it means the drivers on your laptop for your phone aren't working. I'd try disconnecting your phone and uninstalling the drivers (assuming Windows: add/remove programs and uninstall OnePlus USB Drivers). When you reconnect your phone, it should prompt you to reinstall them (or possibly show up as a USB drive that you can click on to install)

Having major problems with my device:

    1. Apps on device randomly opening, closing, and switching between each
other. Have noticed this particularly when typing on any keyboard in any
    application.

    2. Auto rotate screen function turning off automatically when battery goes to
    15% or below.

    3. When viewing YouTube videos in landscape mode, screen automatically locks
when ever I tilt the device towards myself.. by even a fraction of a degree.

    4. Volume rocker controls not working when watching any media in landscape
    mode.

These problems only first occurred with the last update that came out. I thought at first it was possibly the google now launcher and so recently switched to Nova launcher nut unfortunately the problem has persisted.

Can anyone offer any opinions on what the issue may be and more importantly, what the solution is going to be?

Not really. Drivers are installed on the laptop. I was working fine before.

I plugged in the cable, bit of pushing and shoving and it finally showed up.

The thing is as soon as I put it down the connection got loose again and it got disconnected. So its definitely the USB port.

Is the warranty valid for 1 or 2 year with oneplus? I might try to send it to oneplus after I return back from holidays.

Is there any repair option in Dublin?

If the problem is the port on the phone, sounds like lint that it picks up over time in your pocket, and gets compacted every time you plug in the cable, as it builds up eventually the cable stops seating as well as it should/can feel a bit loose. Very simple fix, worth a try. Amazing how much lint builds up in there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,357 ✭✭✭coldfire1x

^^ No lint there, its quite clean. Doent seem anything broken inside either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,775 ✭✭✭Zagato

OK, you won't see it as is compacted, I'd have a fish with a toothpick, and not base on inspection alone

Tried with toothpick, no joy :(

Has anyone come across an issue with the 3 and 3t where the rear camera seems to have issues focusing?

Wifey has a 3 and I've got a 3T. Hers will focus but it takes a few seconds, mine never does. Only noticed it in the last month or two.

Mine is the same, just the general quality of the camera in general really

My 3T focuses perfectly. A work colleague noticed that his 3T had lost focus so he sent it back and it was fixed for free.

The camera was fine (or at least good enough) when I got it, it has just gone downhill recently.

Clearing the cache for the camera app and force stopping it seems to have helped.

I'll give it another few days and if it continues, then it'll be going back for repair.

I think I'll give it a while and see if they iron out the inevitable bugs.

When it starts turn off your VPN and let it download then turn it back on before rebooting.

OK that took me too long to figure out. The notification dots aren't enabled by default, you have to go to Settings>Apps>>Special Access>Notification Access and enable for your launcher.

Feels like a strange update. The blue settings drawer fonts don't fit with the theme of the OS. I do however like OnePlus's cheeky Easter egg in the clock! (1 shows up red).

Anyone been able to get the Google feed working with a side loaded Pixel Launcher?

Also, how does PIP work? Can't seem to get it going at all.

It seems to only work with a few apps. YouTube app doesn't work but YouTube Red does. If you use Chrome you can get it to work by going to the YouTube website and selecting the desktop version. Go full screen on the video and then hit home. It's supposed to work in Google Maps too but I haven't tried.
