Yup you haven't updated yet. New version is 4.5.0. As adox said you can get the update straight away if you use a VPN and set it to Canada or Germany. Or just wait a few days and it will pop up on your phone itself!

Still love the new Dash Charge lightening strike!

That's weird as the phone updated yesterday and I've got the change to the launcher!

The launcher update was from the Play Store, just a normal app update. Maybe you were a version behind on your OS and didn't realise?!

Is that the little lightning bolt on the status bar?

When you plug it in if your screen is off it had a animated lightning on the screen

In settings, display, proximity wake is an option for me. Try there.

Thanks for reply. I think subsequent posters have filled you in on the most recent os update.

They've removed one of the best features of the OP3 for no apparent reason. OP5 doesn't have that feature either afaik. I'll be shopping further afield than OP when I buy my next phone.

At the bottom of the screen when you plug it in and it recognises Dash Charging a lightening bolt appeared. Now it is animated and flashes in with a sound (pe-chow!).

Still missing proximity wake bad.... Such a pain not having it when you want to check the time in bed and the phone is on your bedside locker etc.

Any one know how to turn back on the swipe up to search? Since the Launcher update it brings up the app drawer

    Just install a new launcher.

I ended up changing the number of app icon columns to 5 instead of 4 and just added the google shortcut to the bottom of the screen, right in the middle. Can still search now with minimal fuss and in a somewhat similar way

Any reason why you need to know the time in 4 countries?

Have friends/relatives in those countries who I keep in touch with and handy to know what time it is there before I contact them. Also watch UFC which most of the time takes place in Vegas. Quick way of working out the startup times.

    Hi Folks,
Just got my OnePlus 3T today and loving it.

Where do you get your themes for the phone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 490 ✭✭Metalpanic

Only just discovered, on the updated OnePlus Launcher you can long press apps to get at shortcuts. For example, long pressing Outlook pops up shortcuts to calendar, new event and new email.

I only noticed it after the new update too :o

So I have thought lately that the camera on mine has gotten worse, not focusing or as sharp as before. Put it side my side with a guys are work yesterday running safe OS version and his was definitely sharper from 3 of our opinions

    Any ideas?

I've noticed some odd things happening with the touch screen.
My back button (bottom left) seems to not want to work some times. It's mostly while in WhatApp actually. Also, when I type something in Whats app the menu on the top right of the chat pops up.

From the last update I'm getting increased stuttering across the phone UI, opening some programs EG, using twitter app Talon (jumping between profiles) even in silly places like turning off the morning alarm where nothing should be using CPU... It's as if wasn't dozing all night or something and yet nothing is running in the background and yet it stutters for a moment while it wakes up.

    Folks,

Trying to connect to Wifi here at work, and I have the correct username and password in.  But I keep getting prompted by the Android System to sign into Wifi.  Any idea what might be causing this?  It worked perfectly on the P9.

I'm also having issues with app windows randomly opening, closing and switching back and forth from each other... Especially when typing on the keyboard (within any application: WhatsApp, Facebook messenger, normal sms messenger).

Began with the new update install.

Anyone know or any way of patching back to the previous update before this current one??

It seems it's possible to do so but unfortunately I don't know enough to advise you how to do it.

I think I saw instructions for downloading and istalling the previous version somewhere on this thread in the OnePlus Forums https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/oxygenos-4-5-0-7-1-1-ota-for-the-oneplus-3-and-3t.636403/ . You might find them using the search facility. I don't think it's possible to simply roll back without entirely reinstalling the previous version and that will wipe all data on the phone.

The most common advice on that forum is to clear the phone's cache from recovery (easy) and, if that doesn't work, to do a factory reset. THe factory reset will wipe all data so you'd need to back that up first.

So I'm reading about on plus 'spying' on us, or those who have the "user experience" turned on... Wait isn't that what it's for? To send them analytic data on what's going on with your device back to help determine problems... Or have I missed something. You can turn it off in settings and I don't think it's on by default.

    The original source it is citing is here;

    https://www.chrisdcmoore.co.uk/post/oneplus-analytics/

I think the major problem people will have it that it was not clearly stated this level of detail was being collected. At least with Google they tell you! Plus turning off "user experience" does not stop all collection of data and I can't see from the article what is and isn't collected after turning it off.

It is way more intrusive than thought, tip of the iceberg I would imagine

Hmmm . So the users data is not anonymous users are clearly identifiable to OnePlus? Now that I would take issue with. They should have a full private policy detailing what is and is not collected both with and without the use of choosing.

But not supprised tbh. Don't think it will stop me using it as I'm sure every smart phone and/or app I've had before it has done the something similar...

Is it possible for connections in the screen to get loose causing it to not turn on?

Dropped my phone at the weekend. It is now a mainly black screen and have lots of random multicoloured pixels for a day but now is just a line of coloured pixels. It can turn on, vibrate, LED light is showing & when I change the volume you can see a change reflected on screen where the volume bar should be. There is no real cracks or damage to the screen. A tiny chip in the corner near the LED light, I mean tiny.

Could this be an easy fix? Could it be just a loose connection?

It could be a loose connection, or it could be the actual OLED strip got cracked. Your screen could be perfect, but if the screen beneth is cracked then you need to repair. But you mentioned you can see a change? So its either slightly cracked, or a loose connection as you say.

Im having a problem with my alarm. Its still going off but only vibrates now. No sound at all coming from it despite me not changing anything and the same alarm tone still being selected.

Anyone else having problems with it or have any suggestions? Its the stock alarm Im using within the clock app.

Am thinking of downloading a third party alarm app.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,888 ✭✭✭✭Mantis Toboggan

Yeah try another alarm, if the phone is ringing there's no reason why alarm won't sound, just make sure alarm volume is turned up in settings.

Oh jaysus, the embarrassment. Had been looking at the alarm settings within the clock app. went into general setting - sounds and for some reason the alarm volume was set to 0!!

Thanks. I may still try another third part one to see what they are like. Anyone got any recommendations?

    Thanks for the help.
