I am not saying the attackers were new refugees.
I am saying they use the refugee stream to come back from their trip Belgium - Syria , France - Syria, Holland - Syria.

At least 2 of the ones that blew themselves up in Paris in november came back from ISIS country pretending to be a refugee.
1 who was arrested later admitted to have done the same thing himself with 90 others.
And most likely those 90 are indeed born in Western Europe. No argument there.

But they don't need to do any of that. Aside from the fact that they can just say that they went to Syria or other places without it being true, one of them was actually deported to Belgium by Turkey, ended up in the Netherlands and was sent on his merry way to jihad to his heart's content with no hassle.

Interesting video on the numbers of "extremists" in islam.

"It's a tiny minority or people who are bad." or "99.999% are good people"

    That old chestnut.

    Ideas matter....

TWICE this happened that he was deported back. The netherlands were told he was coming and it was "very urgent" .The neglected to do anything. The note they sent with him, I posted a couple of posts back.

No, they dont need to but they DO

That the elite ****ed up big time with that **** travelling from Istanbul to Brussels via Amsterdam, is an entire other thing.

He was caught in Turkey > Turkey deported him > Belgium/Netherlands **** up.

Merkel's invitation being abused by ISIS sympathisers is happening as well.

    It is both happening.

With Paris and Brussels as a result.

On a side note, amazing how easy it is for Turkey to deport a Belgian on a plane to The Netherlands while in Western- Europe it apparently is impossible to deport people who are still in the plane that brought them here.
Maybe they should try the Turkish way as well: Stick a note on him and off you go.

I'm agreeing with you. I am wondering why he was deported to NL instead of BE though? Anyone know?

apart from the 99% that think gays are horrible people? or the sizable number of muslims in France for instance that have good things to say about IS? what% think stoning is a good solution to adultery?
Im sure the vast majority of muslims will never actually commit a crime but Islam is still "the motherload of bad ideas"

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

I know :) I just can't get my head around that either.

    1. why he was deported to NL instead of BE though?
    2. why no action taken
    3. How'd he get a job in the airport?

It boggles the mind what is actually going on

I mean, the Turkish seem well aware of where NL is, judging by the amount of them here :pac:

We are just 1 happy European family so just sent him close to where he is from?

My best guess is logistics. Flight to Amsterdam earlier than to Brussels or maybe no direct flight Istanbul - Brussels (unlikely that one )?

just because he has some criminal convictions ... you cant stop him working at an airport ... if you do you are profiling ... he probably wrote on the application form that he was really sorry for the 'crimes' he committed in the past and that he is a changed person.

A prime example of PC, putting an individual perceived rights ahead of the right to safety of a population

Direct flights to Charleroi and Zaventem. Lots of them. Just Skyscannered a random Saturday and there were six flights in total.

I wondered which plant it would be. A total of 60km from my university :(.

Got into the train station yesterday and there were armed police everywhere. Got to a meeting and the supervisor suggested we do Skype meetings in future to minimise travel as she is the only one living in Maastricht. Life is already changing.

This is the frightening aspect of all of this ... apparently the plan was to do a nuclear power plant, the airport, the metro and have shooters in brussels centrum like that had in Paris...

The arrests last week put pay to that as they were now short operatives and were worried that abdesalam would talk before they got to execute the plans as planned (today btw).

The assumption that abdesalam might spill the beans seems to have been somewhat of an educated guess on their side ... if rumours that he was supposed to detonate in the PdP in Paris but refused and went into the City centre as a shooter instead seem to suggest he is concerned with killing and maiming but also with self preservation.

We went to Belgium 4 or so weeks ago to visit my family, after Paris, it took me a while to convince the missus is was safe ... it was eary to see the military presence in the airport, more so on the way home as we were early and paced that departure hall for 2 hrs .... from the reconstruction I've seen we sat very close to where bomb 1 went off ... SCARY

We are due to go to Spain in a month ... not a hope will I be able to convince my missus for that trip I'd say ... it probably isnt logical to be fearfull but its understandable

Why is travelling to Spain any more dangerous than where you are now?

That's terrible and it's also a little worrying as there were reports of sabotage at one of those plants back in 2014 which very oddly didn't get much coverage at all.

There needs to me a very, very serious increase in security around those kinds of facilities.

The media were reporting a possible attack around Easter alright.
Not sure what they mean by 'do' a nuclear plant though?
Daily Mail and others reporting a possibility of them wanting material to make a nuclear device, but I see this as highly unlikely.
Not much they could do apart from getting some kind of rudimentary device as close as possible, but what really would it do? surely the security and safety is too high around these plants?

It wouldnt stop me from travelling, I suppose you would just be more alert to your surroundings.

However, it my wife doesnt feel safe and comfortable to make the journey ... I will respect that.

But..but.. you mean to say that after changing my facebook profile photo filter from a French flag to a Belgian one the problem hasn't been solved? I mean what more can I do?

I think they are talking more of an attack / bomb at the core (pardon the pun) of one of these facilities rather than extracting material to use in a device ...

The fun will really start when they get the hang of chemical warfare :(

There's always been a risk in Spain and there's been a history of very nasty attacks by both eta and Al Quida.

Millions of us go every year without any incident though.

There's no point in being put off. It's still a very minor risk.

at an individual level, people are looking for ways to show support and sympathy which these kind of gestures facilitate.

We as individuals can do very little to 'stop / resolve the problem' that is where the authorities need to step in.

If people really expected FB updates to be the answer they are more deluded than I already expected.

Not for one minute am I suggesting you belivee this, as your comment seems to be loaded with sarcasm ;)

I get that but my missus also eats meat all year round but panics on GOOD Friday and refuses to do so when millions of us do and are 100% ok after it.

Not all fears are rational, but are hard to overcome

I don't think anyone thinks a FB post can fix it. It's avoid standing beside your neighbours and expressing some emotional support.

Also people do need to publicly express they stand against this stuff. It has an impact even if it just makes one disenfranchised, wannabe jihadi change their mind.

    Ground invasion of the caliphate.

    What?

As long as people do nothing when some dildo feels it necessary to arrange cover up a flag of Israel with, by the looks of it, a Palestinian flag on a memorial site for the Brussels attack, we are getting nowhere.

To put things in perspective, 25 people have been killed this week in two separate bus crashes in France and Spain.
Would that make people more wary of getting on buses?

would it stop me taking a bus ... no, would it deter other people ... most definitly.

You are preaching to the converted ... I'm just not able to convert my unconverted nearest and dearest ;)
