I asked for temporary cover with Coverinaclick, they said since the car is on my name I had to do a permanent change which is €25 and then change back for another €25 a week later. :/

I only paid a tenner, but if they forced me to do permanent change I would have to pay €80 (2x40).

They can do whatever they want...

I'm with 25plus and can just swap permanantly or temp to other cars online. Handy and no admin as your doing the 'work'.

Is there a limitation on what kind of car you are swapping to?

Don't think so. Seems they do actually charge by the week for the temp adjustments.
I changed permanently from a 2002 1.8 156 to a 2003 1.8tdci focus and it cost me zero. Have paid 70 just to change address before with other brokers. Only 2 months left on the policy and a move of about 500m up the road!

Temporary Charges as detailed below are weekly premiums

    Temporary Additional Drivers
    Drivers Age Additional Premium
    21 – 24 €51.50
    25 + €41.00

    Temporary Additional Vehicles
No Of Groups Higher Additional Premium
    0 – 5 €41.00
    6 - 10 €51.50

    Temporary Substitution of Vehicles
No Of Groups Higher Additional Premium
    0 – 5 €20.00
    6 - 10 €41.00

Any idea where we can find a list of cars in each of the insurance groups for Ireland?

F*ck me, opinions taken to heart again

I will say this much, if you're doing the mileage and not spending more than €60 a week, surely that's agri diesel.... Or have I missed something?

Meanwhile in pigeon land, a tough decision has to be made.... Much more thought has to be given :)

Hence why I said assuming your not doing a huge commute. Obviously if your driving 1500km a week for work or something your going to paying more than 60 euro. What I meant is tipping around going in and out to work and doing a bit of driving at the weekend you shouldn't be spending more then 60 quid a week on fuel every week add up fairly quickly. I certainly wasn't taking anything to heart. And the argument on depreciation is fairly valid but I mean for most newish cars your looking at about 1500 quid a year depreciation but obviously that would be cars a few years old and not very high value.

Anyway long story short motoring is expensive no matter what way you work it.

So you've blocked the main source of income for a site you make free use of, and now you're complaining when they have to make alternative options available to the people who pay the bills so you can be here?

    What complaint was this?

Anyone else here signed up to the Airport Employee Group Scheme?

The 10% Halfords discount is brilliant :pac:

Priced backing plates and reflectors. They're both 20 squid each. 80 smackers just for mostly cosmetic parts to pass the NCT. Grrrr!
Funny result though, brand new, OEM Ford backing plates are about €20 each with tax.
Scrappie had some, i.e. old slightly rusty ones he had to take off a car and he wants €30 each. I get it, they are a pain to take off, BUT he won't just have backing plates, he will have a caliper, disc, hub and whatever else from the suspension while he's in there.
So with all sympathy to scrappie trying to make a living, I have to go with the cheaper, brand new, OEM option. Call me picky or insane, but it just has to be the option of the day here. :D
I will not give out about that scrappie, they have always been helpful, reasonable and well stocked in the past. Just this time we couldn't come to an agreement.

I just access the group scheme page on my phone and tell them the code.

Yep. And give it to them at the till. You could join a motorbike club and they were part of the GroupScheme, so when I first used it i was ready with my "Had to join a bike club, hurr hurr, not even into bikes, lol" nonsense, expecting a few questions as to where this coupon had originated from.

But the lads at the til must be fairly used to seeing them and never batted an eyelid. Anytime I'm spending anything over 20-30 euro I'll use it. Be silly not to.

I print 2 to an A4 page (ie; each taking up half a page). Tear it in half and hand it over.

Pffftt... Halfords hand out that 10% discount to more people than my ex.

I have one of them Allianz discount cards works on everything bar Tom Tom even 50% of socket sets. I never actually had insurance with Allianz but my dad had 4 years ago and got the card no expiry date and they've never refused it or asked me for I.D. Or anything they don't care.

    Sh*te! I shouldn't have thrown my away!
But I mostly buy their €15 oil when it's onsale, so can't complain
Have been servicing my both cars on that for a few years and no bother.

I bought there 1/4 inch professional range socket set durning the summer at 50% + 10% off and I have to say they know how to make decent socket sets the ratchet in particular is very strong and nice to handle. My dad used it a few weeks ago and was even saying he was surprised how decent they were and he'd have very expensive socket sets from over the years. So I think I'll start very gradually building up a collection over a few years as I do eventually plan on having a project car and to take it up as a proper hobby in 5 years or so can do all the basics as it is. But it would be nice to get something cheap that you could really delve into.

Either way it's nice to build up a decent tool collection over a few years as the stuff lasts for ever my dad has a welder and sds drill that are both a few years older than me  and both work perfect I suppose key is to buy decent stuff that will last.

Just got a brainwave there wondering if the focus needs a service. Checked the book and it's 5 miles off 10k miles since it was last serviced. I swear it only seemed like 5 minutes ago since I serviced it!!!

I think based on time my one is due late December so I'll have around 15k km on it at this stage I'm thinking of letting it into the main dealer for this one granted it will cost more probably 200-300 euro. I think after that I might do it myself. It will be very weird bringing it too a dealer as I've always service my cars myself from my first car onwards. Renault seem to be substantially more than vw group for servicing though.

Must be raking up the miles so. I've 170k on mine atm .

If servicing yourself access to the fuel filter isn't great on these. iirc on the megane the best way to get to it is through the wheel arch. Not the nicest yokes the 1.5 dci to service.. :D.
