It really is! While M-Pars are ideal they're just not available, which is leading me to look at others but the E39 favours dished wheels so that's what I realistically want to go for.

Always wanted an E39 with a set of style 176's

Not a fan tbh. 95's were an idea I was throwing around alright though.

M-Pars or M5 wheels. Anything else will just scangerise it. Personally I'd keep it original.

What's wrong with what's on it Foxhole? I think they are the nicest.

Tis all subjective, I'd have loved a set in the day.

    How about staggered style 32's?

They are a very nice wheel that's on it at the moment but I'm just a bit bored with them and would like a set a bit bigger, like has been mentioned 37's would be the best bet but finding a set is near impossible. I could always buy a new set at €500 odd a wheel!

32's are nice but they'd have to be in 18" for me!

Stupid question, but I was in a Top garage in Limerick yesterday and saw GMO fuel at the pump. What is it exactly? The guy there didn't know!

Genetically Modified Organism. It refers to the organic source of the ethanol in the fuel, could be corn or some sort of yeast for example.

The rsa can be an awful crowd at times. Happened this week, and it wasn't the only time either, happened 3/4 times in the past year or two. The uncle is going about his business on a run in a 2008 transit minibus. The rsa stop him, make him pull into the side of the road and get out, as they get lump hammers, ratchets, spanners, you name it, go under the bus (esp the rear) and belt the bejaysus out out of everything, to "make sure it's safe". I know they're only in the interest of safety, but stopping someone and doing that on the side of the road is a bit much. He's convinced that they knock things out of place, because almost always after they 'tinker' with it, it needs to get something fixed!

Not only that but it's also a complete waste of people's time.

They should first fix the problem with corrupt NCT testers who are willing to take buck and pass a dangerous car.

    Got NCT in 3 hours.
Still scared of drivers door being jammed a bit, needs about twice as much pull strength to open than normal would, I have feeling tester will just try to open car, wont pull hard enough and will just mark as instant fail.

Just approach him and open it for him then. If it can be opened, it will pass.

When I park up, I might just leave door half closed (you know when you close door not hard enough, it's kinda closed but also kinda sticking out), I mean they ask cars to be left with keys in ingition afaik so may as well try that.

You could always wait near the car for the tester to come out and then open the door if they are struggling too.

Oh, I always imagined once you park car and walk in to register/fill out something, you are sent upstairs to wait.

You are but there is nothing stopping you from coming out ;)

They did a particularly fantastic job of ruining a perfectly good E39.

Again, all subjective to the individual. I'd have done bad things to get a set on my E39 in the day!

    Not anymore though :)

Was the same with the Mercs, I had W210 run out sport rims on a C220cdi and they looked very well. Put the same rims on the 95 C220 diesel here and they look crap. Have algenibs on it and they suit it to a tee

Even though they are the same car!!!

    Upstairs?

I've been to 3 different NCT centres and none of them had an upstairs waiting room.

I've always just handed the keys over to the tester at the window.

What if you have two different keys? one for doors, one for ignition? :D

I always leave the car unlocked in the centre car park, so I would still hand over only one key.

So I can detach door key and just give ignition key? I thought they check door locks too.

Tried it before, it's not due to rust/dry parts.
It seems that previous owner had small dent in drivers door and that somehow makes door kinda jammy.

Still though, previous owner passed NCT with this fault, so I hope it goes through on that.

    Depends on the test centre.

In Fonthill they ask you to drive the car up to the door, so there I leave the key in ignition with the doors unlocked.

In Naas they ask you to leave the car in the car park, so I bring the key up and hand it in reception.

Race car style, flick a bunch of toggle switches to start. Good luck with that one ;)
