Happened to me once, had a MKI Focus estate at the time and asked a guy to do the alignment. He only told me later (after I paid) they only do the front.
Cowboys like that should be shut down. If someone does that, he will probably focus the lights using a wall and crayon, or tell you the rear wheels don't need to be balanced.
That kind of Mickey Mouse sh*t absolutely infuriates me.

Yeah it's the first time I got an alignment done NOT in my local garage because a mechanic recommended Red Cow Tyres.

They checked all the tyre pressures, rolled the car back and forth etc. while doing the alignment. Never seen any other shop do so much even though they had the same 3D equipment.

    A little advise please?
Managed to lose the one and only key we had for the MX5, it is a 2000 MKII.
It had a separate fob for the immobilizer and another separate key fob for the (aftermarket) alarm. I don't care about those, the car is not alarmed or immobilized.
The key itself looks like it doesn't have a chip:

If I'm correct, this is a simple key that can be cut from a blank, no programming needed. How much do Mazda charge or what is the better/cheaper option? Lock Doctor any good?

I know that there's a crowd in roscrea that can clone a key from the barrel some how.
I assume there's people country wide?

Got fully comp insurance on my 330d for €660 just there, can't complain with that at all. I'm 25. Fully protected no claims too.

Car passed the NCT first time. Woop. 8 months after I did the work on my front suspension and the imbalance is 0% :D Delighted with that because I was worried I did a sloppy job!

I would have needed the key number from Mazda and then get it cut by them or Lock Doctor.
Alas I shall not have to find out now, she found the keys locked in a press, so dodged a bullet there, phew.

Did similar last month. Hid my keys in the house before I went on holiday, couldn't find them for 2 days!!

I really really should. What sort of cost should I expect? I always thought it'd be horribly expensive because of the immobiliser.

    A what now?
Somebody either really upbadging or downbadging. :p

The dashboard in the mk3 Focus is so bad compared to the mk2 Focus. These modern things are way too complicated in design, IMO.

Today has been a good day. I applied for a job I thought was way above me and after a very intense interview last week I got it :)

Be careful what you wish for!
    Good luck with it.
In the NCT right now sh*tting a brick. I hate tests.
Why does it look like a hoard of testers has gathered round my car, strocking their chins and pointing at things?

If it was a Lexus they would probably be stroking their things at the fabulousness of it.

    Failed!
Bollocks anyway. Rear brake backing plates of all things. When I replaced the rear hubs, I noticed they were going. Went to Ford to order them and was told "jaysis, I've been a mechanic for thirrty years and no one has ever asked me for one of them!"
Replacing them is a fcuking pain in the hole. Have to take of wheel, dismantle rear brakes and remove wheel hubs. Fcuking horrible job if you don't have a lift. Fcuking raging. And fcuk you Android keypad, you fcuking cnut.

At least it's nothing too major. Is it not drums on the back of them c max like the mk2 focus I wouldn't of thought they were necessary then although maybe I'm not thinking of the thing is it just the cover that bolts on behind the brake assembly on the back I've seen them on my parents Octavia they are fairly cheap and easy to fit on most vag stuff obviously not the same on the c max.

They are literally just a metal splash shield that sits behind the rear brake disc. Nothing major but a huge pain to change.

    edit
That Lucas stuff don't half work, though! Allowed smoke 3.0/m whatever that is, actual value 0.15

    On the paddy-spec Focus, maybe.

****, I'll have to do that too then. My rear right one completely disintegrated a while back.

Yep they were the things I was thinking off. Ah at least once you get that sorted you have another 2 years before having to worry about not again. Tbh 3.0 is a very high limit for smoke you'd want to have a fairly bad yoke to fail that I mean even if it was 1.0 that would be a high limit. I think the highest result I ever got in that test was 0.05. Cars with dpf filters even have lower values to the point where sometimes the machine won't register the result as its too low that's why you often see them often revving newer diesels for a bit longer to actually get a value.

It will fail. Huuuge pain to do. Wheel to come off, brake to come off, wheel hub to come off. This was my first thought when he told me I failed:

    edit:
Ah, Drawn Together, how I miss it! Now there was a show of pure quality. :D

The Celica is annoying the heart and soul out of me, it runs good, i just have zero trust or faith in it. it's been fine around town since the engine swap in June but now i'm driving Wicklow to Waterford or Cork most days i just can't relax in it and put my trust in it. so so tempted to sell it.

it's due tax this month and test in January so it's essentially worthless, but i'm wondering would i be happier in something else. every time a mk1 Audi TT passes me, i feel like i bought the wrong car. would a TT be just as unreliable. then i wonder can i sustain this gigantic mileage in a "quick" petrol anyway.

i see the Celica as a girl i have always fancied, that i am finally going out with. We get along perfectly, but one night she cheated on me and i found out. We still get along great and i have told her i will forgive and forget, but deep down i can never trust her again and it's eating away at me, ruining the man - car relationship.
