Here simple question but how do I increase the ringing timeframe before it goes to voicemail? I rarely answer a phone in 9 seconds.

Go to settings and then call and scroll down to Call forwarding settings. Here press Forward when unanswered and you can change the time delay to a longer time, so that it gives you a chance to answer the phone.

Those instructions work fine on the Desire.

The operators have instructions for this too

    Here's O2s.

I'd guess the one set to the shortest time would take precedence.

    It's in the sticky ^^.
How do I increase the number of rings on the phone before it goes to voicemail?
Key in **61*xxxxxxxxxxx*11*nn# followed by the call/send button and it should update the delay. xxxxxxxxxxx is voice mail number (e.g. 08*5*******). nn is time and can be up to 30. So if your phone number is 087 3333333 and you want a 30 second delay, then the code you enter is **61*08753333333*11*30#. When you enter this code, you'll get a message on screen saying "MMI Code Started", followed by a message that says "Call forwarding - Registration was successful".

Does anybody know of an app that will allow you to set up SMB shares on your phone to be accessible wirelessly?
I know there are WebDav servers and FTP servers but they're not the same. Something that would allow me to map a drive to my phone quickly would be deadly.

Haven't done it myself, but I believe the Astro file manager app does it, you also have to install the Astro SMB module from the market. The Estrongs file manager does it as well supposedly

Boardsie Enhancement Suite - a browser extension to make using Boards on desktop a better experience (includes full-width display, keyboard shortcuts, and dark mode). Now available through the extension stores

    Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/boardsie-enhancement-suite/

    Chrome/Edge/Opera: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/boardsie-enhancement-suit/bbgnmnfagihoohjkofdnofcfmkpdmmce

Nah that's the other way around. Using EStrongs you can connect to a SMB share. That's grand. I'd like to have an SMB share on my phone that I can connect to from my PC. There's an FTP server and a WebDav server so SMB shouldn't be too different (for a programmer).

My bad, that'll teach me to actually read posts rather than just pick words at random and throw them together

Anyone know if ShapeWriter is now only available as a paid app? I've had it on my Desire and Hero for ages but after rooting yesterday I found that it's gone from the market, using SlideIT instead for the moment but would definitely pay something small for ShapeWriter, best kb app out there tbh, suppose I can just put Market enabler on the phone later.

You have a Desire which is what, 512MB for apps? You don't know what a conundrum is until you have a paltry 140MB of app space to try and fit everything into. I really hope they bring FroYo to the Samsung Spica so I don't have to keep a list of what apps I've uninstalled for space :(

I doubt Samsung will tbh but there are people working on it. Stuck getting the audio working at the moment.

In the meantime you can root it and use apps2sd.

 Seriously? That's awful, Sense UI must take up an awful lot of space. 140 doesn't seem so bad anymore :o

PC Magazine have posted their Top 30 free apps of 2010
DoubleTwist Player for Android is a slick media player app that helps make up for the lack of iTunes on your phone.
Do they not realize that if I had itunes on my phone, I would put my foot through the screen repeatedly, and grind it to a fine dust?

You must have a small foot......

Don't know what they're at, the software is a very poor and limited itunes clone but the Android app is excellent. I use it with Songbird instead.

doubleTwist on Android is great for movie playback. Haven't bothered with their desktop client.

afaik it's US only. At least it used to be unless they've added support for Europe.

Just installed Market Enabler there and was about to get setup with Google checkout etc and maybe buy a couple of apps, but it's just so ****ing tedious I cba, first of all Google Checkout is complete ****, I cannot use a gmail account, I cannot use my current mail account, it's a ****ing disgrace that we can't just buy apps with the click of a button.

Hmmm got it working, however I had to create a new gmail account as the account I had sync'ed with the phone wouldn't work. ****ing annoying tbh.
