    meant to go to the gym on monday but got up late, was working today, shall go tomorow

    bjj:90 minutes
    first time rolling in a GI.

    submitted a blue belt for the first time, but he got me twice before.

    alot more frustrating with the gi, i was rolling with someone with way more experience in one aswell so he could control the crap out of me

    warm ups , worked up to 100 x 5 i think
    140 x 3 beltless hook grip
    160 x 1 belted mix grip
    180 x 5 boom last rep may or may not have locked out, grip was going.
    190 x 2 same as above, BOOOOM
    160 x 3 beltless hook grip for the first two, easy mix for the last

    next week one up on the last 3 sets, hopefully

    Sqwaaaaaaaaaats
    80 x 3
    100 x 1
    120 x 1 high bar and low bar
    next time i do low bar im gonna have to use a thumb in grip, bar keeps rolling up.

    Power cleans.

    40 x 10, one of the reps when i was dropping it back to my hips, the bar whacked off my jaw, felt like an idiot :D
    60 x a gazzillion, moved up to 70 when the last rep i did felt incredible, just got a real good pop
    70 x 3 too heavy to get as good form as i wanted
    60 x a few, in hindsight i should have stayed at 60 after the good rep to repeat what i did, but meh i didnt.

    Neck work on mats upstairs, 10 minutes.


    i had to rechalk after nearly every deadlift rep, just couldnt hack the heat.

    BJJ:90 minutes, really good fun today, everythings starting to become instinct.

    ive got two grappling tournaments lined up at the mo.

    IP gym have a no-gi tournament on the 7th of august i think, gonna go for that

    and my trainers running one on the 29th of the same month.

    Definitely hit up IP, the guys are quite nice up there and you're guaranteed at least two matches I think. I'm away for the IP one but I'll be home on the 29th, who's running that? My ever so quick search on teh webz turned up nothing.

    180 x 2 belted mix grip, felt like a warm up, but when i was taking my breath for the third my abbs felt really uncomfortable, and i felt like i was gonna vomit, so i left it.
    after the first rep i felt 8 was on the table.
    170 x 1 beltless hook grip, felt good without the belt
    170 x 1 beltless hook grip, no shoes
    180 x ****, beltless hook grip , missed lockout.
    140 x 1 sumo

    Squats:
    60 x 3
    70 x 2
    80 x 2 low bar, really focusing on form
    90 x 2
    100 x 2 videod, looked sweet.
    110 x 1
    120 x 1 loose belt on
    140 x 1
    150 x 1, grand, spotter touch at the top but felt easy, knees looked alright, didnt cave really.
    never was gonna lose it.

    i know lol, no idea what happened with the top set so then i just got bored and worked on beltless stuff.

    i want to get my hook grip good enough to use on max efforts because i can use a narrower grip .
    with mixed grip my elbow hits my knees.

    ju jitsu, went last 3 nights, took tonight off.

    got some good subs in last night, first time ive really focused on going for chokes, got some guillotines and an arm triangle again.

    reason i took tonight off was we were practising takedowns, and one of them was a clinch style slam, and the guy slipped as he was picking me up and i landed on my right foot a bit hard, hurt my knee. see how it is tomorow.

    Today
    back and bi

    lat pull down.
    3 sets 15-18 reps a set, started at 82.5kg plate, then 75kg plate, then 67.5kg plate. focusing on the squeeze more than actual weight

    barbell rows
    worked up to 80 x 5
    after a drop set of 60

    dumbell rows.
    37.5kg dumbells x 7 was the top set

    hammer strength unilateral front pulldown. no idea what its called
    lot of sets.

    forgot chuck rows which was probably the main reason i went up lol

    im assuming that means how to fall? if so we where taught on day 1, and pretty much every day since then :P.



    today, morning: did some light squatting and deadlifting to check the knee. felt fine, also did some stretching then annoyed COH. good day.

    highest squats where around 80-90kg i think

    heaviest dl of 180.

    Bjj a few hours ago.

    good fun, knee felt fine, did some guard passes and basic conditioning work.

    Jesus i have no time, ive been in my house for around 2 hours in the last week, (excluding sleep) went to an mma class the other night, good fun, worked on kicks and punches(obviously) and using strikes to set up takedowns.

    Went for a 4 hour mtb ride on my new bike last night, **** me its heavy, great for drops tho.

    went to the gym yesterday afternoon, did alot of military pressing volume,
    4 sets at 50 for around 7-10 reps per set id say

    then some upper back work.

    may train tommorow if i have the time. do a leg sesh.

    cheers, very cool exercise, once the bar leaves the ground im almost guaranteed to make it, but it takes forever! the 235 was easily 5+ seconds for the first 2 inches.

    today, striking class, absolutly ****ed, hour.

    looking set to make weight. cut around 6 lbs over the last day and a bit, obviously water weight.

    cant wait till tommorow, sub tournament, then a good friends 18th, great day!

    absolute bollox of a day....


    weighed in on my home scales, which have been accurate for both pl meets i went to, at 100.4kg

    got down to IP, weighed in, at 98kg, 1kg to go till the next division down... i was very pissed at this stage, considering i hadnt eaten in around 30 hours.

    got some water in to me and watched the advanced fights, good crack, was in better spirits.

    i was then told that the only two people in my division where both training partners of mine. so we decided to pull out and save the 30 quid. unfortunatly by the time we got to talk to barry about it the ultras had fought, as i would have liked to have moved up a div.

    on the bright side though, i could barely walk going into the thing as i injured my knee(s) on friday in work, and further in training. to put it into perspective i wasnt going to shoot for a takedown, i was going to pull guard and hope for the best.
    and sure ive got another at the end of the month!

    Hard luck man, it's always tough finding opponents for you fatties ;)

    Best of luck with the next competition, you'll get some great experience just going and watching these anyway - you'll know what to expect for the next one!
