Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

D’Backs, Giants, Nats and Phillies all have nothing to play for so all might be mailing it in.

Both the D-Backs and Giants wont roll over for the Dodgers.
Rockies definitely have the easier run in.

Dodgers definitely need to pick up a game over the Rockies over the next series

Interesting the AL is decided except for home-field in the WC game, while the NL still has 5 teams chasing 4 berths - Central and West winners and the 2 wild cards. Even the Cardinals are still in the running. This with teams with only 4-5 games left to play. Very entertaining and a win for having come up with the wild card in baseball. Seattle and Tampa can each win 90 games and not get into the postseason, food for thought for next year.

Hey Rockies, would you mind losing a couple of games in a row please.

Cubs are doing what the Cubs always (used to) do!! A win tonight is vital against the Pirates who they have not been able to hit all season...

Possibility of a tie with the Brewers resulting in a one game play-off to decide the Division winners followed by the one Wild Card game!

Every fan with no horse in the race is wishing for that.

Or you can keep watching professionals forced to bat 0.091 in the NL for easy outs

Walk off single for Madison Bumgarner in a pinch hitting role last night.

(his average is still .167 though!)

Swapped lead with Dodgers now. This weekend is going to be great.

With a game in hand at home against the Phillies who are on the beach already.

Dodgers finish in San Fran, where as the Rockies finish at home against the Nats.

Think the Dodgers need a sweep, but 2 from 3 should be enough for the Wild Card spot

Rockies have to be favorites to win the West, then the Dodgers for the WC spot.
Cardianls have to be the outsiders based on the remaining games

    Rockies (H) to the Nats
    Dodgers (A) to the Giants
    Cardinals (A) to the Cubs

Good wins for both the Dodgers and Rockies last night. I'd say the Cards are done now and it'll be the Dodgers in the WC. Having to go to (more than likely) Milwaukee won't be easy though.

Nice to see David Wright back on the field last night. Ok, so he grounded out to third in his pinch hit at-bat but still got the standing ovation. He starts today so will get an even better send off I'm sure.

Was watching...it was a nice gesture by the Mets to give him this night...and well deserved!

Must've been nice there last night. So many memories, that amazing over-the-shoulder running catch...the home run in the WS vs. the Royals... Just not fair he was injured so much, surefire HOF if he even plays half the games he missed at his typical 30/30 level. Great fielder, I remember Chipper Jones whining when Wright won the gold glove, what a prima-donna.

(First 3 or so minutes is the video, then Wright walking around the field.)

I'm looking forward to tonights games. Dodgers/Rockies and Cubs/Brewers all on at the same time and fighting to avoid the one game playoff. If they match, it's a one gamer tomorrow to decide the division.

While that's great for the neutral, I really think the head to head between the two teams should determine the division as opposed to a game 163.

No real drama this afternoon. All 4 winning easily enough.

    Games 163

Brewers @ Cubs 6pm our time
    Rockies @ Dodgers 9pm.

Not win or go home though but the consequences of losing are still fairly big.

I wonder if a side falls behind early will they just call it quits and have the scrubs do mop up duty to save the team for the WC game tomorrow.

The Dodgers vs Rockies game is particularly important
Winner gets home advantage against the Braves in the NLDS
Loser gets to travel to either Chicago or Milwaukee for the WC game

Going to skip watching the Brewers game (hope they win) and only watch the Dodgers games. No way the wife will allow me to watch both

So, Yelich has a slim chance at the first NL triple crown since 1937. He needs 2+ home runs and to beat someone else by 2+ RBI. It's possible since this playoff game counts towards the regular season. Even if he falls short, wow what a year. Marlins had some players, Yelich, Stanton, a great pitcher who unfortunately died, some very good other players (Gordon jumps to mind.) Yelich should keep the Brewers interesting for the next few years, imagine if they'd been able to pry deGrom or Syndegaard loose from the Mets.

Speaking of Syndegaard, he and Wheeler had more wins than deGrom. Heh. No one thinks wins are important anymore it's all this fancy ERA+/FIP/WHIP/... stuff. Wheeler was a very pleasant surprise, finally seemed to figure it out. Now only 228 days till pitchers & catchers report.

As the Mariners found out, Dee Gordon was hugely over rated. Granted they played him out of position in CF but he was horrible at the plate and completely incapable of taking a walk. There's also some open questions about the kind of environment he encouraged in the clubhouse. I sincerely hope the Mariners dump him this off season.

This game is very enjoyable. Moving along at a nice pace too. Already into the 6th.

    Yelich is 3-3.....!!!!

Just noticed the NL wild card game is tomorrow - hardly seems fair to the teams playing today.

Yeah, probably too late to switch days with the AL one but teams play every day in the regular season so they should be used to it. At least the two losers today play each other and not some other side who are at home resting

Dunno what it is when playing in Seattle. Adrian Beltre was awful, goes back to Texas and there's mutterings about the HOF with him. Coco Crisp, disaster when he gets to Seattle. Richie Sexson not the unmitigated disaster of those two, but seriously fell off the cliff.

Kind of like my favorite example, Roberto "Achhh, pthui!" Alomar as a NY Met. Travesty he got into the HOF simply based on how he did in Cleveland, he was a joke in NYC.

Maybe in Gordon's case it was AL pitching, maybe the position change. Really hard to tell. Seems like if a players good, it won't matter where he plays, yet, some continue to do well after changing teams, many do not.

Ahem. You forgetting somewhere? Toronto too. In fact his best years were in Canada, and he's in the HOF as a Blue Jay.

Atmosphere was great there today. Plenty of Brewers fans there. It'll be more of a home crowd tomorrow though.

4-0 Dodgers and the Rockies being no-hit. I'm off to bed, hopefully I don't miss some sort of comeback.

Despite been 4-0, its been a good Pitchers duel.
Rockies were unlucky with the first 2 runs in the 4th. The Rockies pitcher struck out 4 in that inning, and still gave up the 2 runs on one hit

So after a very up and down season, Dodgers finished 2nd seed in the NL.
Could easily have missed the playoffs altogether.

Feeling pretty confident about the rotation now that they get a couple of days off.
    Kershaw
    Beuhler
    Ryu
    Hill

All in good form right now.

Are we doing predictions for the playoffs?

For the Wild Card games, I'm going with:
    Cubs
    As

    Then in the NL
    Cubs over Brewers in 5
    Dodgers over Braves in 4

Dodgers over the Cubs in 5

    In the AL
Red Sox over As in 3
Indians over the Astros in 5

Indians over the Red Sox in 6

    World Series:
    Dodgers over Indians in 5

    Let the crap shoot begin.

    100+ wins mean nothing now....!!!!

As a fan with no horse in the race (as usual!), I’m really looking forward to the next month.

The bullpen’s a bit of a worry though isn’t it?

Will be interested to see how David Price gets on in his start too.

Not hugely. Overall we're a "score what you want and we'll score more" type of team. I don't expect too many low scoring games it's just a case of keeping the bats hot and running the bases well. We score a lot of runs.
