Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That shower has cleared (Dublin 16) now. Has left all surfaces white, with the exception of roads (which are just slushy). 0.9c now.

Ultimate lamppost watching going on here in Dublin 18 :D

Missed out on that one by a matter of 1 or 2 km's. Bit of a goldilocks zone for showers tracking west just south of the M6/M4 corridor atm. Some pretty heavy snow showers heading in to the south midlands.

An inch of thundersnow in 12 minutes. Very impressed!

Kermit, how do you think Galway will do tonight?

Kermit, how do you think Galway will do tonight?

Potentially quite well later on. More likely closer to the coast later on tonight. Best place to be is a few miles inland places like Shannon, Limerick, Castlebar, Guam etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,190 ✭✭✭✭Pherekydes

    ...Guam etc.

Huh? Any one in Guam confirm snow?

Hills of north Kilkenny have been white since the heavy snow during the afternoon.
Currently there is ice and snow, temperature is 0.0C, DP is -0.3C. More snow on the way according to the radar.

Very heavy snow in Castlebar at the moment, sticking as well.

Even have snow near the coast here in Newport. A nice big blue flash and a long rumble of thunder just there too.
It makes a change from the storms at least.

Dangerous lightning in Castlebar now. Wow!!

That last bang was something else, not even a second between the flash and the rumble.

Ah the Mayo lads, have yis no camera phones to take a video of the thundersnow? :D

 I love lightning, but prefer the safe type!

    Sorry...couldn't resist. :)

Disappointing snow pellets here in west clare.

They are cool to watch though, they gracefully turn to hard snow upon hitting the window.

It was snowing today in Carlow, of course typical of our weather when the heavy snow comes down the ground is wet and it won't stick!

    I love the snow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,597 ✭✭✭corsav6

Turned to hail now, but its sticking so I don't care.

Edit: I tried to upload a pic but it's just saying invalid file, on mobile so I'll try the app instead of touch site.

wow. That lightning bolt and hailstorm that just went by Castlebar was immense. Was driving into town and the fork lightning and subsequent bang nearly ejected me through the roof of the car. Haha thought an atomic bomb went off..

Proper sneachta here in west clare! First time this winter! No icy/watery excuse of snow, proper snow!

Probably only in the high ground areas.

I live just outside Carlow Town and nothing, it's cold but wet.

I'm sure showers (or the remnants of showers) will make it through overnight.

There should be a decent enough snow shower within the hour i'd imagine.

Here is a link to radar if anyone is interested. Updates every 20 minutes.
