Don't knock that auld graupel...yesterdays snow started as graupel here. :)

Very light graupel shower here too (in Dublin 16) in an otherwise pretty much dry afternoon.

Yeh see only takes one shower, not even that intense, after dark tonight to get at least a dusting.

    Very quick transition

Latest Euro 4 tonight. Showers frequent in the west, more scattered further east.

It's a mixed blessing because whilst the showers are more frequent in the west it won't be quite as cold here but still should be decent enough amounts by morning. In the east less showers but it will be colder so any snow more likely to settle.

And in case there are any lingering doubts as to what falls from the sky tonight

Remember though it's only indicative. Very difficult to forecast precipitation at a macro level.

Well I had a great experience in Sligo earlier, blizzard like conditions where an inch of snow fell in 15 minutes. The shop I was in was closing up early because of it. Other side of town had nothing though.

Look's like i'm in the Gonzo snow shadow for a while. Louth and North Meath also some snow in the next while (circa 45 mins) headed your way.

Looking West over the city, the clouds have that aqua blue/green colour as the sun has slipped below the horizon, indicitive of having lots of hail in them.

Cloud has rolled in over south Dublin now...

    Snowing nicely in Naas now

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,565 ✭✭✭✭Kermit.de.frog

With temperatures dropping now any rain in the showers will turn to snow and it will be more inclined to settle as well.

Just worried that the bulk of that shower may pass to our north.

Edit: I will correct myself...just looked at radar loop and it appears more on an east trajectory...bring it on!

Edit: Still holding together on latest radar. TO THE LAMPOSTS! (it's only gonna last about 15-20 mins either way)
