Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Has anyone who has been on a previous 50% off deal been offered another?
When I called to see what deal was available he said "wait to I check if you have had a price freeze before" got the impression he could only offer 25% off because I had 50% off before.
So 50% deals might be available to some but not all.

Due to be cut off in 13 days after 15 years, I got no offers when I rang to cancel (last offer ran out mid Sept., 1/2 price variety and half price multi-room). Hopefully I get a call with some decent offer before kids disown me.

(ps., do they show offers when you sign-in to your account on-line)

Wait until the viewing is switched off then phone them , You will be offered 12 months half price for being a loyal customer ,
I have been with them for about 8 years and on a half price deal for the last 5 years. Every year I let it run down then call them back ,
I just got the latest deal last Monday Evening as my viewing was turned off last Sunday.

So I spent €4 on a phone call w sky over a month ago, agreed to a deal for €42.50pm and turns out they're dipping my account for €78pm plus they never credited me €50 that they said they would

They are accountable to no regulatory authorities for this theft

My next call will be a proper cancellation

    They're not the only offering

Just make sure that the €78 isn't your first payment because if you rejoined mid payment cycle then your first payment with be more than €42.

Maybe ring them and ask why you were charged €78 or look at your account online?

I had a billing query yesterday and pm'ed the sky reps here on boards, had a call back about 2 hours later and issue resolved. I was very impressed so maybe give them a shout.

My point was that I spent >40 minutes plus >€4 on a phone call and that should have resolved the matter but no, they have (deliberately?) made a mistake that results in me being out of pocket almost €80 in 1 month plus the fact that I now have to initiate contact that will involve another + 30 minutes on the phone plus the cost of the charges for the phone call

i cancelled and played the waiting game and got offer of half price sports for 6 months, thats all and im with them a couple years, its hardly worth it, i mean should i wait longer and see, im in no real rush tbh

did they call you or you called them?
I had Sky Sports for only 1 month & cancelled the Sports.. Could I get a call from them, I'd be happy to sign up if I got a deal on the Sports price.

You're not really heeding the advice you were given here and instead of looking at resolving your issue you're just giving out more about it...I mean that in a nice way. :)

Go to the Sky Talk To forum, post your query and ask for them to call you back. Alternatively you can PM Sky Reps directly with your name, account number and a phone number and ask for a call back. Simples!

Let us know how you get on.

You're really not listening, my point was my disappointment with their inability to execute that which was previously agreed over an extended period of time and some small resources

I will engage via the boards rep and let you know

With all due respect, is a thread about deals that Sky are giving to its customers really the place to be airing your grievances with the company?

I doubt you are out of pocket
It is usual to pay extra the first month because you always pay your bill in advance, however the first bill only comes after you have been set up........ So the first bill can be nearly double what it will be going forward

    However

You won't find any answers by coming on here ranting and spouting crap without checking out the facts with Sky first because they are the only ones who can address your issues

    I read it all.

Rather than contact sky to find out what was going on, you choose to come on here and rant and give out saying they were dipping your pockets and committing theft.

If anyone steals of course they are accountable, but they were not stealing..... At worst it was a billing error, which they cannot fix if you don't talk to them about it

You can't change the name on the account. You can however set a password so you can access it. But he would still be the account holder and he would need to cancel products or cancel the full account (You can upgrade/downgrade the likes of Movies and Sports, just not HD, Multiscreen or Broadband )

Add the new name then to make it a joint account.

I did that before with my dad's account with UPC so I could deal with them and they did it no problem

Can't do that either with Sky. Name on account should be one name only and should never change (There are a few exceptions where someone has power of attorney or where the sales person was an idiot).

See my last bit about salesperson being an idiot ;) Sky's internal quality & compliance procedures prevent this, but it happens occasionally. It's a compliance fail from the staff member.

Can't say you make any sense there. It would be common practice for utility bills to be issued in names of both spouses. In UK, my cousin has sky with his gf and they are both on their bill as account holders.

Rather than idiots, I would think that it is common sense to allow both partners names as joint account holders

I'm not saying it makes sense. I'm saying Sky don't allow it, when you work for them that's day 1 of training.

Called to cancel the weekend after about 5 years, offered me 10% discount..... Was told if I do go ahead with request to cancel that any offers won't be available or else any on my account will be lost? (if I understood correctly) so awaiting another person to call over the next day or two or else I'll go ahead and request cancellation, at least I'll get Christmas out of it!! 10%, even though the come back to sky get 50% off...

First up any Sky contract is never any longer than 12 months. The offers are usually free from a contract other than the usual 31 days notice you have to give. Hopefully you get a good offer but just make a note of the date it expires and ring in 31 days beforehand to cancel again. Even if you miss the date Sky only charge per day for the service so you wouldn't be at any great loss.

I have seen an odd post here in the past where someone would get offered half price for 6 months with no contract or 9 / 12 months with a contract but thats a very odd time that would happen and its usually some agent pushing for a bonus.

You're on the pigs back so if I'm reading things right. Follow the link provided by Nava a few posts back (I had to click twice on it btw before it worked) and half price is available for some packs up to 24th December for returning customers :)

I got a letter in the post last Thursday saying half price on anything for 12 months and offer only valid till 13 December and got an email this morning with the same offer valid till 24 December. HD half price too.

I left in September and it was the first offer I have received but I don't think I will bother, will only go for it if they give it to me free again.

Any chance you could put English on that?:). If I read you right, I think you should get rid of the Sky Box and get a combi FTA receiver. That way you can arrange your channels as you prefer to view them. You may need an aerial for the Irish channels, and depending on your location, an aerial in the attic may suffice.

It's the same as the link on the last page. I read through it and it says minimum term applies but it doesn't say what the minimum term is? Sky being as helpful as ever.

I joined Sky 5 years ago and once the first 12 months were gone, I cancelled and I have never paid more than 50% since, had it free for 6 months once and free for 2 or 3 months another time.

not had fone call in a month, was waiting for couple months free too

My sky was turned off last week, phoned them to see what deals is available and 25% off is the best they would do.
I just started a chat with a sky rep and told him I had got the offer that nava posted above, had to play dumb for awhile but he said no problem 50% off for 12 months, happy days, the wife was going to kill me if I kept it turned off over Christmas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,798 ✭✭✭ablelocks

with Sky Q pricing and details coming in Feb/March, it might be an idea to try and find out if you can change to Sky Q without penalty during a 12 month contract. The person you're talking to will probably not know the answer - the last guy I spoke to said they had no info on it yet. That's why I'd be wary of signing a 12 month contract at this time.
