ECM doesn't want to develop the feature as the much as the GFS does.

Windchill at the weekend will be a shock to the system after the very mild first half of the month. A bracing early walk Saturday morning.

ECM has the high moving in from the Atlantic fairly quickly this weekend now but showing a potential reload of the cold snap next week deeper in FI

That's just rain. If it was the middle of winter with colder air to tap into it would be nice!

A cold mass will bring much colder air until at least Monday when temperatures will be average and then milder air is expected to come back bringing maximums back up to the low-mid teens and late next week, another cold mass is expected to bring temperatures back down again.

Wintry prospects for this weekend getting slimmer on every model run. Back to rain on Saturday afternoon :

    75-779UK_ptk6.GIF

Looks like just a Friday night/Saturday morning thing at this stage for wintry showers and probably mostly confined to northwest/northern areas.

Hopefully something a bit more interesting than this in the future.

How depressing. Thought this would happen alright.

The only shining light is that its only November. Let's hope we get at least one significant cold spell from an easterly or northerly source this winter.

Never even mind snow I'd be happy with some nice cold crisp frosty mornings/days especially in the run up to Christmas rather than the drab mild crap were getting!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,242 ✭✭✭pauldry

Dont worry guys therell be plenty of snow this winter

An unsettled West Northwest airflow is developing so there will be a lot of days like Saturday and colder ones too.

Still think its Game on for a White Christmas this year

this is way into fi and i think wat MT was talking about for the 29th. this would defo produce a snow event especially for the west and north and dare i say it the north east.

Nothing in the charts that would indicate snow, wet cold and windy.

But FI changes fast. Early days.

12Z GFS still going for a rain/snow/rain "event" next weekend, for high ground at least, with low pressure dragging down a shot of polar maritime air.

As interesting as that low is, my eyes are still more drawn to that hugely bloated high building to our south. Why is it that anytime decent Atlantic storms developed, we nine times out of ten have blocking highs building up over us?

Eh? Storm Barney packed a serious punch around the middle of the country, with gusts of 126Km/h recorded in Oak Park Carlow. I don't understand why anyone would wish for windstorms...Iceland is welcome to the beast of a low if it transpires that way.

Scandinavian High in deep FI on the 18Z GFS with a nice cold pool over Europe rumbling westward.

Pure La La Land stuff of course.
