You wouldnt have the codes for RTE1,RTE2 and TG4 by any chance ?

RTE1, 2, and TG4 already appear on epg in all regions. No need to add codes. If they do not you are using a very old version of autobouquets.

    Hi,
What are your boot times on 10640 image. It is taking on average 6 minutes to go from boot to load to run to an actual channel. I am also finding that HDME on 10640 is not so stable and requires a restart after booting up. 12 minutes is really making this not worth while.
Has anyone moved on to 10773 image

Why run an old software version? A simple software update takes 2 mins and can be done from the menu. If you're still having problems, most of us here had to do a full flash a second time to get stable.

Moved to software upgrade and it completed successfully.. Does it get its upgrade online or do I download to USB and forse install.Boot times are poor from a cold power on, is there anyway to confirm the version you are on just incase the upgrade did not happen?
I flashed the first E2 image twice and it did improve its stability allright

What are your boot time from power on to channels ?.

Switching back to spark, it can boot in 30 seconds with e2 it is just too much to wait upto 12 mins

There is standby and deep shutdown. For your timers to work you need to be going to standby, the box will wake instantly from standby. Deep shutdown will take 30 secs to a min to boot. I only shutdown once a week and leave the box on standby so the timers work. There is an option in the settings, don't know the exact path as I'm not near the box.

Software update pulls down the latest version from the net and installs it and reboots.

    Thanks pog.
I definitely have a problem. Boot times are anything from 6 to 16 mins depending on what was being done before it boots or crashes.

Go back to spark and flash Enigma again, use the latest version

When watching a recording do you have to boot back into spark or can you watch a recording directly from Enigma ?

Also why would I need an antenna and a dish? Can I not get all desired channels via a dish?

You do everything in Enigma, I've not seen Spark in months and never want to see it again

You don't need an aerial, but it's handy to make use of the third tuner. The Irish channels are encrypted on satellite, you only get them on satellite with a Sky sub (or by illegal methods), but the Irish channels are free on terrestrial with an aerial. But besides that, having a 3rd terrestrial tuner allows you to record/stream 2x satellite channels and watch/stream terrestrial at the same time.

I had the same query myself Levia so I looked it up.

You can get the Irish channels via Saorsat through your dish as opposed to Saorview if you want. It means a seperate LNB on your dish though as opposed to an aerial so same difference really. An aerial probably cheaper then the LNB.

Not exactly. It needs an minimum 80cm sized dish pointed at another satellite at 9east. The POS perforated 60cm Sky supply is no good. Also Saorsat does not have TV3 or 3E

Bit confused here, I've downloaded a folder with plugins and I've read that I can plug USB key into box and it should say "install plugin" on box and then reboot but nothing is happening... Any ideas anyone?
Folder has 1 sub folder "var" in it and then more sub folders under that

You can install an .ipk, but that's not in the right format to just install, you need to FTP it across

/ The root of the box, you'll see there will already be a /var directory

Yes, overwrite. It won't update them if you don't overwrite

Can you use the Amiko Alien like a sky+ box (record one FTA channel whilst watching another FTA channel on the same frequency) or can you only record from one satelitte frequency at a time and look at another one?

Yes, you can do 3 at the same time as it has 3 tuners, 2x sat, 1x terrestrial. You can also stream out from this box over wifi, I often have 2x matches on the go at the same time on TV and laptop

    Great. Thanks for that.

Obviously Gazzer, you will have to run TWO separate downlink cables from your dish to each of the two Satellite Tuners on the Alien2 Box, to get the full flexibility of watching and recording multiple satellite channels simultaneously.

The scenario you gave would apply if you connected just a single downlink from the dish to the Box

Don't think so. There is a system info section in HDMU centre but it doesn't seem to change with software update. Mine shows 1447

Do you mean menu->system->software update? I tried that but got a warning: "The current beta image might not be stable", so I've left it alone so far.

If it's worked ok for you, I'll give it a shot!

Yes, it's the latest nightly, be sure have a backup in case things go wrong. I've been updating every few days. The box is rock solid now

I installed my HDMU image from linuxsat a few weeks ago, and I get the same message as above when trying to update from the box, I have done it about 4 or 5 times and it still says 2 packages found. Am I on the right track or not? The version number in information menu does not change...its stuck at:

    Kernel version: 2.6.32.59_stm24_0211
    Enigma: 2013-02-22-master
    Last upgrade: unavailable

    Thanks for your input.

I found upgrade would not show the
Update on info. When I flashed the image from USB it would show up. Had it almost working. Boot from cold was 2 mins after latest flash. Streaming to openelec looked stave but hdmu centre kept crashing. Went back to spark. Will revisit this in a few weeks again when more images are released.
