Have you added the satellites.xml to /etc/enigma2 on the box by FTP like in Pogs tutorial? You need that before you can scan for channels on 28.2e

If you saw HDMedia Universe when you booted up then E2 is already flashed on the box, the login for FTP should be root and HDMU

I went into the plugins section of HDMedia Universe but anytime i try to download a plugin i get an error message that it has failled and that 'perhaps you need to run opkg update'. Anybody any ideas what that is about?

    Thanks

Looking back at your posts it appears you got the box with HDMU already pre-installed. I've been warning people of this, you need to go through the process and flash it yourself. You really need to start again from scratch in Spark following my guide with the latest images or we will be constantly troubleshooting or answering basic questions.

Trust me, it's best. The latest image is rock solid and at least you will know where you're going as we'll all be running similar setup.

Well after a good few hours tinkering around with the box I am able to get all the channels on spark and can watch one channel and record another.

I followed the tutorial that Pog put up and reinstalled Enigma 2. I ftp'd and installed all the software mentioned now I have all the channels but when I go to install autobouqets fron the plugin I keep getting error mesages about certain files not been available. I have gone through the set up twice and still get the same message.

I will try it again tomorrow or Monday so will prob be back on here looking for more help :) Thanks everyone for the info.

    .

Did you make sure to change the permissions of the files as required?

Hold on, did you FTP Autobouquets across and change the permissions of the files?

Also, I'm having difficulty with the new autobouquets although some here have it working fine. You could try the old one. Only difference seems to be it takes about 15mins to run. Here is the link to the old one https://dl.dropbox.com/u/56355/AutoBouquets.zip

Make sure you have dbvsnoop FTP'd and tune to a free to air channel before you start autbouquets.

I've put the new autobouquets on 3 boxes now and every time I set it up it installs literally 100's of blanks in the bouquets even though it lists every channel correctly

After removing all blanks again today I have come to the conclusion it is quicker and less painful to use the old one.

    Trouble with storage - questions:
    * it seems that formatting exr drive to ext3 will make it faster and more stable in automounting. But does this also mean that I will be unable to access anything off that drive from a windows machine or media player on the network?
    * anyone seen any more newbie based instructions for the telnetting step? Never used telnet before and putty seems to be getting refused access when j just try to telnet connect to it by ip address

You can easily download or stream what you recorded from the box using the web browser. Set up webinterface in plugins.

With putty, it will default to ssh, make sure you select telnet as the box only works with telnet. On login, it will ask for user and password, root and HDMU. You'll only need it once to run these commands, no need for a guide

Also, you can mount the ext3 drive in windows after using this http://www.ext2fsd.com/?page_id=2

Thanks to championc and Pog for setting up a new thread for the latest image and plug-ins: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=83784993

I've just successfully reflashed my receiver (as I hadn't reflashed it since the beginning of January)!

Now, I wanted to comment that I had trouble installing the CoolTVGuide. I tried the zips posted at posts 9 and 10 in that thread. Pog's version (post 10) didn't display the guide correctly in my box and championc's version (post 9) reported an error when I opened the plug-ins menu on the box. The error message said something along the lines of "wrong magic number" or something. I suppose when championc ran it on his receiver some number specific to his box got written somewhere in the code, and this wasn't matching something on my box.

Anyway, the way I solved the problem was the following. I went to the developer's webiste (cooltvguide.com) and downloaded version 6.4.0 for "newer OE 2.0 images". This downloads a zip file. I unzipped the file on my computer, which gives you a .ipk file. I suppose you could FTP that file to the receiver, but I didn't do that. What I did was to further unzip that .ipk file (since .ipk files are themselves archive files) and manually FTP the files inside the ipk to the correct folders in the receiver. After a restart, CoolTVGuide was working perfectly.

I use Ubuntu so the way I unzipped the .ipk file was by just right-clicking on it and selecting "Extract here". If you're doing this on Windows you'll probably have to rename the file and change the .ipk extension to .zip. But I haven't tried this. Inside the extracted folder you'll see a "usr" subfolder, and that's where you'll find the actual CoolTVGuide code files. Just ftp over those files to the correct folders in your box and you're done.

Now, I probably did this the hard way. There might be a simpler way of just installing the ipk file. So if you guys know how to do that, please let us know.

7zip opens .ipk files on Windows.

CoolTVGuide is in the plugins repository, you need to download it in menu-->plugins and run it once to get the dependencies, then copy over what i posted. (I'm going to edit it now to save confusion and post the latest one)

Got the new version of autobouquets working. From another forum:

you must chmod 755 these files:
    autobouquets_e2.sh, autobouquets, autolamedb

also disable script checking on non compatible boxes (ie alien2)

I'm about to give up on it though - it overwrites my custom bouquets every time I run it, and I haven't managed to find a workaround. I've tried running it with 'make default bouquets' off, 'custom channel swap' on and off, and although it keeps some of my rearranged channels, it moves most of them back to what seems to be the Sky order. I really don't want a 'Specialist' bouquet reappearing with Pub & Psychic channels! I also have a 'General' bouquet with RTE, BBC, ITV, C4, More4 etc, and that disappears every time I run autobouquets.

You badly need to give it static ip outside the dhcp pool the so. You'll be using the web login lots

I'm going nuts trying to get my box to Stream on my Lan. I re-flashed my box with 10780. Do I need to turn it on somewhere ? I was trying also to change the default http port from 80 to something else but I can't find this anywhere either.

Hi there - I already had cooltvguide v5.6.2 installed so I deleted it via ftp and uploaded your folder, but now I get this error when going to plugins: "Some plugins are not available: Extensions/CoolTVGuide (cannot import name findCoolPicon)"

It works fine if I restore the old version so no panic!

    Any ideas?

    PS: What is "HD Manager"?

    Thanks
