ECM goes same way as GEM at 144hrs
    Fantastic run!!
At this stage Ireland is colder than Southern Britain as the winds swing in our favour
It's a done deal guys, snow is on it's way from the wkd!!

All we're short now is Evelyn to get snowbound and having to give the forecast for 4 days in a row whilst Mr Shleet gets banned for Mild ramping :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,901 ✭✭✭JanuarySnowstor

And at 168hrs it gets even better!!

At a time when the models have been all over the place the similarity of the ECM and GEM out to 144 is impressive and makes the GFS solution look questionable. GFS had that low 40mb more intense than the ECM at just 72 hours.

Patience it will come. I expect lots of angry people in parts of more eastern England come Saturday as the front will not make it as far as them.

Although some areas of Wales and west Midlands are gonna get plastered.

ECM brings northern Leinster and Ulster back into the pot and then throws in a load more potential snow events.

    Exciting times ahead.

Having a cold frozen UK is going to help us!

Any chance the midlands will see any snow?

I've my hand on the rail ready to jump back on but before I commit can I ask if Wexford will be included in possible snow effect?

Steady on there people around here are easily excitable.

We've been here before. Encouraging signs though I had a feeling the runs would turn in our favour today but I want to see it on another few runs before I get too excited.

Every chance, just after it hits the east.

The front will move east and then retreat west through late Friday/Sat AM

After that we are all in the cold per ECM

Be interesting to see what Met Eireann say tonight.
My bet would be no major climdown until after the 9pm news when they will have no choice only to mention the 'S' word

    235970.png

So we go into the freezer on Monday and don't look like getting out until the end of the ECM run and even then no guarantee we will get out then, is it just me or have the model runs over the past 2 weeks been as good as any we had 2 and 3 years. With the caveat of course that eye candy is all we have had nothing concrete..... yet!

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

Slack northeasterly, mostly dry, very cold at 192. A few adjustments and those heights could be building straight up for Greenland. ;) Nice FI stuff from the ECM tonight.

A few snaps from Sally Gap this afternoon. I would expect the Wicklow/Dublin Mountains to have a fair bit of snow by now as it hasn't stopped raining in Dublin all afternoon. Temp 3.5 DP 4.0 Rathcoole.
DP cant be higher than temp!
