Not much better up +60 tbh, cold needs to move a lot more West, its the next 60hrs that I'm interested in.

72h looks good for the East

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,838 ✭✭✭dacogawa

I'll take that up to 72H, now roll on the 18h with another push west please...

+78 a definite upgrade for the east

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

Looks about the same for Saturday. Snow potential is still there, highest chance in the east.

That low is even more intense, isobars turned into a sold white area. 940mb would be sub-940 on hi res charts.

Neither. But it's better (so far).

It's better. If the configuration stays stable or moves further west over the next couple of runs, then it looks very likely for some snow in the east.

Rain turning to snow as it crosses the country there on Sunday. Then early Monday cold uppers push in from the other side, from the west.

Yeah, looks like a snow - rain - snow event.

I am not surprised!! Gonna be savage up there over next few days

Looks like a queue of snow filled lows lining up to hammer us at 120hrs. Mad charts at the moment.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,013 ✭✭✭Tom Cruises Left Nut

    UKMO better at +96 ?

So snowfall potential in places there from late Friday from to Monday on that run. No point looking at it in detail until Friday.

Will change but that would be nice :D

Not sure how reliable it is but The Weather Channel app on my Phone has just changed its forecast for monday for County Meath, It was just rain but now theres a 70% chance of Snow/Rain and gets colder as next week goes on.

At last even a sign of snow for the south! Christ, the south has and west have been utterly left out of the excitement up to now:

"Huge blizzard with -8 uppers being show... for the east"

I'm not griping but it's been quite frustrating.

Those apps are just automated forecasts taken directly from one of the models. They wouldn't be far off, but they're just a snapshot of what the model is saying.

Hows the UKMO looking for snow prospects this weekend?

    Just saw Maq's post below!

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

UKMO and GFS quite different at 144. UKMO much better.

    That;s next Tuesday

UKMO looking about the same as GFS for Sat. Further north/east you are the better.

Nice runs for Sunday - Tuesday
Could be whiteout for many areas but still marginal and not certain.
Beyond mid week, considerable doubt this evening and I wouldn't be quite sure of GP's talk of Armageddon! Looks to me the atlantic could easily fight back

Wouldn't be surprised if the GFS was overcooking that low a tad.
