Imagine how much your rips of Quantum Leap would be worth if you, ironically, erased every other recording of it from time!

And it is possible, as long as it is done... ironically!

Surely only this guy could do that?

It would have had to justify itself...

Then it would have been judged at the standards of the proper Zeldas

    And then been wiped :D

It's always been mainstream to hate on FFVII fanboys. They don't do themselves any favours anyway :P

The guy that runs HG101 is bringing out an adventure game:

    http://blog.hardcoregaming101.net/2012/09/hg101-is-making-adventure-game.html

He gave me a preview when I was over in New York, it's really weird and funny.

    Shill!!!!! :p

Sounds like it could be good. I'm playing through Resonance and Sanitarium at the moment. Really enjoying them, but have had an annoying reminder as to how crap I am at adventure games.

Well it looks like the Neo Geo X will be available in a handheld only option for $130, as opposed to the full system price, including the base station and controller, of $200.
I will still await the experts opinion on the quality of the device before picking one up, and I'd you really can dump your legitimately owned roms onto a lovely sd card and pop it into the slot!

An emulated handheld is only really worth that much if you can plug in carts. If it's all emulation then it's really not worth $130 I think. Well, for practicality and using it for what it's intended I mean. Collectability is something else entirely.

For me the main draw was how interesting the complete setup was with the base unit and stick. If I were to get one, I'd definitely put the few extra quid in and get the whole lot.

Ya its definitely a case of all or nothing with the Neo Geo X, a PSP would be more useful if it only used to emulate a few games.
Anyone know if the new controllers are compatible with the original ones ?

Now that would make it more interesting alright, worth the 200 $ price of entry.

Unfortunately the company in question has a poor track record of making these devices, interesting if the games have slowdown in all the wrong places.

    It's made by Blaze.
    It emulates Neo Geo Hardware.
It will however have a Neo Geo badge on it.

It's nowhere near worth €200. It will of course be artificially collectible because of its Neo Geo badge, but at the end of the day, it's a 3rd party product thats merely endorsed by a big name. No genuine hardware = goodbye from me

Pretty funny stuff and it mirrors my experience of first playing the game :)

    "At best unreasonably cruel"

This is the sort of endorsement that if stuck on a box actually would get my attention. I love me permadeath.

Right I got a pal PS1 and I have no games. So I'm not going to get any pal games but will instead for all out and do the whole NTSC.
    What mods do I need?
Might be stupid question here but can it run at 60Hz with US or Jp games?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,377 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

You just need a modchip. NTSC games will run in 60Hz.

A little walk-through video someone made of the new retro shop "Retro Game Base" in London.

Filmed on some awful camera but you get an idea as to the size of the place and the amount of stock.

Some of you know I'm planning on opening my own retro shop in Dublin in the future. I'm planning on it being a bit larger than this one in case anyone was wondering and having a lot more arcade machines.

    Edit:
I will also not have any stupid things in my ears :)

    Ah now!

When you get to a certain age atavan, you stop inserting these things inside yourself :D
I'm 402 months old now so I stopped that sort of thing a while back :)
