Rygar on arcade is only ok, was never too fond of it. Rygar on the NES though is amazing, one of those NES games were they didn't decide to copy the arcade game. It's like a mix of zelda with side scrolling bits and works great.

but seriously it is a great concept, a console that doesnt just pander to the CoD generation of gamers is always welcome.
it's only my 2nd Kickstarter backing, the other being Redux: Dark Matters for the Dreamcast

    Prometheus, damn good movie :)
Not perfect but none are and I'm glad I eventually got to see it in the cinema.

Don't read the spoiler if you've not seen the movie.
I was trying to discuss with my girlfriend the whole "what (supposedly) happened around 2000 years ago on earth that they would be pi$$ed off with us all".
But I think it was falling on deaf ears. "Did anyone maybe die 2000 years ago" etc etc. A discussion for another forum me thinks.

Yeah, I enjoyed it the two times I saw it.
Plenty of D'Oh! moments, plus there is the magic small rock scene,
the one that saves our heroine despite the massive starship crushing everything else in it's path!
But, it's really a big setup for the next one, too much distance between the ending of Prometheus and the story of Alien to be bridged without another film.
Plus, we need it to stop the narrative space being filled with p1ss poor fan fiction.

I don't like this thread, it's all too clean and new and I don't feel comfortable. We need someone to come in and wreck it up a bit with talk of old men in cinemas and some pictures of retrogamers all cosplayed up.

I know I mentioned it earlier but..
Legend of grimrock , been playing this since I got it last night , it's plays like a remake of all those Amiga/ST Dungeon crawlers like 'dungeon master 'or 'EoTB'.
Nice and hard too, it's 5.50 for the next few hours so if you prefer your RPGs with a team of four adventurers and loads of gridpaper* rather than the spikey haired japanese protagonists and gunswords variety its worth getting.

*there is actually an old school mode included with no map option ;)

Brilliant game that. I gave up before finishing it though, some of the later levels became frustrating.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Yeah it's well worth getting if you like that type of game and especially at that price.

No fair! Japan actually makes some of the best dungeon crawlers available!

ah yeah , especially Atlus ones , like Etrian Odyssey or Dark Spire.
It was a slightly unfair dig. But I was getting at the fact that is a real WRPG rather than a typical Jrpg though.

You can just see them trying to figure out how much duty is due on a Shmup PCB and a bunch of Famicom carts! (I don't know what you are importing so forgiveness is begged)

Some fierce Googling going on there I'd say!

Yeah, I rang them earlier and they wanted me to email on the paypal receipt.
They definitely opened the boxes anyway as he was able to mention a few details about what I was getting without me telling him.

Do they do that to everything or is it a random thing? I dont really mean opeing up the boxes but rather stop them in customs.

It seems to depend on how it's sent. If you don't mind waiting a while you can send stuff via standard super slow 2-3 month post and it usually makes it over untouched. But if you send it airmail with tracking etc you're more likely to have it checked. At least with stuff from Japan anyway.

First post in the new thread :pac:

Anyone watch Pawn stars? Might be old but i only started watching season one, the lad bought an original pacman cocktail for 175 dollars. I couldnt believe it, i wish we had arcade cabs floating around here like in the states.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,599 ✭✭✭James Howlett

Yeah that's a good show. I'm Vegas bound later this year and might have to take a peek at that place. There's a few great shows like that floating around the discovery (i think) channel... except for Hardcore Pawn, that show is pretty much footage of poor people being ripped off, and standing in the line for the opportunity for same.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 34,679 CMod ✭✭✭✭CiDeRmAn

Those shows could ruin collecting at markets if they ever get popular over here.
Of course, if we could off load a bunch of non working Nes consoles on some of these entrepreneurs it could be worth it!

I know it's been posted lots of times, but it's so funny!

Wippee first post in the new thread....go me!!

Anybody play Project Zero 2 on Wii yet? saw it yesterday in HMV, it's a port of a 10 year old PS2 title though which made me hold off on buying it.

How come Gamestop in the Square is so shít. Was out in GS blanch last week and saw a much better selection of games including Onepiece on 3DS, had no monies so couldn't buy anything:(

Might try get back out today and get something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,695 ✭✭✭DinoRex

If you've never played the PS2 version then it's definitely worth getting.

Sliding block puzzles killed it for me though... just can't do those things.

AFK for a few days and I miss a new general discussion thread, a retro beers and the beginnings of a Steam sale. The world's a different place with much more dodgy Irish films and fish & chips when you have irregular internet access!

I heard the Wii version isn't great. The ghosts are nowhere near as scary and there's new control additions that kill the tension. You are better off getting the cheaper and apparently better PS2 or Xbox release.

This may have been mentioned already, but this is worthy of a chuckle: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/118456-Koei-Accidentally-Published-the-Wrong-Game

Considering buying Spirit Camera myself. Mainly because I haven't had anything new to play on the 3DS since Kid Icarus. Needs more new games on a regular basis!

Well it looks interesting enough with hopefully good use of AR.
I saw One Piece for 3DS out in Gamestop Blanch last week, should have bought it:(

That new Theatrythm Final Fantasy is out soon aswell, supposedly it is like Elite Beat Agents but RPG which should be a good thing?
