35GB split 96 ways equals a 375MB avi file? Hmm...

I do like my HD TV shows and Movies. Low def video just doesn't do it for me any more. I'm too used to the HD downloads and blurays on a nice screen.
Still, if it's only avail in SD then I guess I'm sh1t out of luck. I'm suprised they havent down a bluray release of it though.

I'd say it'll happen at some stage, I think it'd sell well enough. With large screens, say 42" * upwards, the SD stuff tends to look dreadful. Especially compressed stuff

Never mind, it is available in 720p so that's not so bad.

Whats the source? Is it on Blu-Ray then or is this upscaled?

Seems to be broadcast HD so it is true HD and not nasty ass upscaled stuff.
I'll check it out a bit and see how it is.

    I think not.

What was the story with the US Snes psu connector again? Someone mentioned here a while back that you can't plug a PAL psu inti the US model as the connections are different. Then someone linked to a gender changer/adapter for the psu that lets it fit

Can't find the post tho :(

    Edit - http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/nintendo/snes-power.htm

That was me. The PAL NES and SNES adapter won't fit a US SNES. A SNES or Virtual Boy one will. I can't be totally sure but it's a good guess that the PAL and US SNES are being fed the same power input once it goes through the PSU so an apapter may very well work.

Cheers, I'm gonna buy the bits from Maplin as discussed in the mmmonkey link & build an adapter cable & use a Megadrive 1 PSU...seems the cleanest option.

The source is ITV 4 HD. Quality seems decent considering what it is and it's still in 4:3 so 720p is actually 960x720 in this case.
I'll have a gander at season 1 as its only 20.6GB and report back.

I have a feeling they are not referring to the incumbents with this shirt but rather the two rich white guys running against them....

Ok, the HD Quantum Leap looks pretty good. Nowhere near as nice as a remastered Bluray but still good. I might do a quick remaster on it myself in After Effects like I did on a few other shows and movies to clean up the colours and some other bits.

HD and SD (click to see the proper size):
    qleapcomp.jpg

And a screen captured video that shows how they play. It's a little rough but you get the idea.
Obviously watch it in full screen 1080p to get the full effect.

Anyway, I've got season 1 HD downloaded so going to watch an episode now :D
Cheers Sparks for reminding me I really needed to re-watch the show :)

The smaller one is an mkv though, is the one on the left your remastered one?

MKV is just a container file, you can put a crappy quality file in it or whatever you want. In this case its a DVD rip which is decent for SD.

The one on the left is a HD rip from ITV 4 HD and has had no remastering done to it. And the DVD (on the right) is the same I think, unless they did some clean up for the DVD release.

Ah I see, yeah the hd one is obviously miles better...though the one on the right isn't bad at all. Are they perfectly stripped of ads etc, given its an ITV source?

So far no ads on Season 1 ep 1.
And by remastered I mean something like below, but done to the whole video and not just a single frame. You wouldn't do it so extreme but you get the idea.

Left is original HD TV rip and the right has had some work done to it.

Nice, contrast is much higher without being saturated

Yeah, it would take a lot more work to get it right as you have to decide where to draw the line. Sometimes something is just meant to look the way it does and by changing things up to much you lose the visual style of the show/movie/clip.
I do a lot of my own work on old movies and shows and even re-cut them sometimes. Like i did with a some Star Trek stuff I posted a while back and then got a spanking from the mods for posting non retro things :(

    Please dont tinker with it

You could create a paradox and the whole show could vanish out of existence

Show released in 1989 which was the past. Set in 1999 which then was the Present. But now in 2012 changing the present into the past to look like the future with better definition but less fancy technology then they had in the past which was the future but now is not the present past or even future.

    Oh Boy
