I see the iphone 5 got announced, now if i were a real hipster I would care but I dont, therefore I'm not a hipster

unless I'm so far gone that I dont even realise :(

Anyone here really care about it?

I watched the live blog about it and I'm sure I'll upgrade to it eventually later this year but I wouldn't say I'm excited about it. Kind of a boring update this year(like last year) but I'm always happy to see improvements on the camera and video front.
As the old saying goes, "the best camera is the one you have with you" and you nearly always have your phone on you.

    Nope.

Had to laugh at the report here making a point of the larger screen allows for an extra row of app icons. Whoop de fcukin do. Why anyone under the age of 60 would want a device that locked down is beyond me. Android all the way.

I was browsing boards on my phone yesterday and noticed that millions of posts from the apple forum kept popping up on the main page. Thought it was spam/people having some craic with a spammer, so clicked into it for a laugh.

Nope, it was actually people getting just THAT excited about a damn phone. I don't get it. I really really dont.

Must be the same hipsters I see queuing outside the Apple reseller just before Grafton street at 7:30 in the morning whenever something new comes out.

Let people buy and use whatever they like. I just don't get why people are so worried about getting judged for the phone they have. I use an jailbroken iPhone and iPad because they are the best devices in my eyes for what I want.
If you want an android then go for it, they are also good and I have about 5 android phones myself.

I couldn't give a fig about it tbh.

It looks like the last one, but for a handful of cosmetic changes and a slightly larger screen.

According to the announcement it's the slimmest smart phone on the market, which would be great except it's not, the Motorola Razr series are thinner, as is the powerful Huawei Ascend P1 s.
It's screen isn't the biggest, or best.
It's camera isn't the class leader either afaik.

I don't think it's going to convert anyone to the IOS cause, it's only going to appeal to those with means or due an upgrade from their existing iphone, problem there is most are on 18 month contracts so it could be 2013 before many make the leap, at which point many will wait for an expected iphone 5s!

I have a Sony Arc S, I have it for another year at which point I'll get a Galaxy s3/4 whatever the class leading Android will be.
I hope to get a Nexus 7 over the next few months too, apparently it is brilliant, while the better half has an ipad 2 and a 4s to keep her warm!

I'm not gonna start an argument about something I dont give a feck about but the Razr is thicker than the new iPhone. When you look at the dimensions the razr is only thinner on part of it and thicker on the other bit.

    But then again, who cares.

yep android all the way. A system where you can actually make it the way you want. I heard the S3 will apparently really start to overtake the iphone 5 this time

Who's judging? I dislike the closed nature of iOS and the rip off prices and feel you get much better bang for your buck with Android. The fact you've jailbroken the devices says a lot imo though. Anyway, each to their own as I said many a time on these forums. :)

    IT Ninja.
I just get a little put out when the whole iPhone is better than Android, no Android is better than iPhone discussion comes up here.
I thought as a group we were better than that :(

    Not to worry:)

I have little invested in an Android vs IOS argument, given my house is full of both devices.
I just can't stand evangelists for tech of any type and Apple fanbois are worse again because their chosen OS is so closed and makes it's living by being locked down in every way.
It feels like, rather than selling cool tech, they just treat us as a revenue stream and try to find new and interesting ways to make us pay money for stuff we never knew we had to have.
Now, I understand business is business but Apple seem to take this to new heights!

And this new iphone really does seem a bit meh.

All I have is a Nokia brick from the dark ages :'( My phones have gotten crappier as I get a new one. I never seem to have the money or can justify the price of a new one.

I can't wait for it to come out!!!*

The whole iPhone vs Android is pointless, it doesn't matter what phone you have as long as it isn't a Nokia smartphone.

*commission baby and anyone who got the 4 will want the 5.

I'd like a nice phone that not everyone else has that lasts for ages on the battery... 6310i here we come!

    I've had 3 mobies ever. A 3310, a 3110 (afaik), and just recently a 1616.
Does exactly what I need, nothing more.

Back from a brief trip to Rotterdam (or anywhere, Liverpool or Rome). The local Tuesday market had a guy selling a very random selection of games (from NES to Xbox 1). Had what seemed to be dozens of handhelds haphazardly shoved into a very small glass case. I'd have taken a picture, but it was too horrible :( All those poor GBAs...

Ah well I'm a fanboy of neither os but my personal preference would be for android. Not like I keep up with the whole thing really though, I have a S1 that i got off my friend. I do some stupid things and usually whats in my pockets pays the price so why put and expensive phone in there. I also fit my dignity in my pocket :D

Just got the fright of my life. Was sitting watching a film and heard this weird noise coming from outside the conservatory. Decided to investigate...

There was a fox right up at the house, staring at me in through the glass doors, making the strangest noise. As I walked towards him, I expected him to run away, but he didn't. He just sat there staring at me.

Eventually he walked away towards the end of the garden, stopping to stare every few feet.

Went upstairs and told the the girlfriend about the fox that freaked me out. Had a bit of a laugh, then went back to my film.

    'He's still staring at you'

'Hah, piss off, stop trying to freak me out'

'I'm not joking, he's down the end of the garden looking at you'

So I got up, still thinking she was messing - and there he was, about 20-30 foot away, sitting at the end of the garden, still staring the hell out of me.

Kinda feel bad for the guy now. Tempted to leave him some scraps. Can you tame a wild fox??? Maybe I could eventually dress him up like this -

Since I live out in the backend of nowhere (basically anywhere outside Dublin :P) I see foxes all the time and they are very intelligent. I saw only literally laugh at my sister after she tried to scare it away, its sniggered at her just like a person would. They know you cant catch them if you run after them and they just act like smart little bastards the whole time.

Wouldn't leave him scraps anyway, because its a wild animal designed to be able to catch its own food. Plus maybe he wants to eat your face :D

No person needs that many phones. A drug dealer probably :D

Nothing in the new iphone 5 that makes me want to scream at my network demanding an upgrade becuase there's a new iphone out. I'll probably wait until the 5s comes out as I'm due an upgrade about that time. My 4s will be fine on ios 6 until then. I just went for an iphone because I like them and it does everything I want it to do.

I kinda want my own Starfox now though. :(

What if I made him a little kennel? Could call it Cornea.

Could train him to do a barrel roll.

Do it! There used to be a fox that came to my aunts house. She kept feeding him so he'd come back every now and again. Eventually he got friendlier and would eat food from her hands.

You'd want to watch out for foxes in Japan. Mischievous bastards, and always getting you to do weird errands.
