    GPS/3G any good?

Very fast, very smooth. Smoother than any Insanity or Darky's ROM I've tried before.
    No lagfix enabled.
I have 60 or so user apps on it. Everything opens instantaneously.
I'm just hoping now that it won't slow down over time since the lagfix doesn't seem to work correctly.

    No issue with 3G
Haven't tried GPS yet. I will on the way home from work today and I'll let you know.

I only asked a simple question...

I have flashed before and had no problems and will again but just asking what peoples experiences here are from flashing up from 9.3 etc?....

Is that a problem for you...

If anyone asked a question here, as they did before, I helped them out, and I was hoping someone here would do the same for me....

No problem here man, do what you like, I`m here to help as much as I can.

    Where you on Insanity 8.3?
I`m finding it very good, bar the data connection, maybe the 3G in my area is crap?

No. Last Insanity I tried was 7.1
Happier overall with Darky's. Delighted with v10 stable.

Installed v10 final with no wipe from RC6 using CWM earlier. Some minor bugs being reported on the forum but only noticed one so far. Gmail app wouldn't launch. Easily fixed by uninstalling the gmail app then reinstalling from the marketplace.

did you install using odin?its true that if your on 9.5 you have to install via odin?you cant just open the zip from the sd card like normal.

g1032 maybe you know the answer as well please?

Ya. You'll be changing the bootloader so you'll have to flash the base Gingerbread ROM via Odin.
Then the new Kernel and v10 stable ROM will be flashed via CWM.

    Full details here:
    http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/guide-installing-rc6-need-to-flash-dark_core_2-2-first.2382/

Just replace the RC6 with v10 stable...............

    v10 final ---- http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/if-you-cant-wait-v10-final.2754/

No, flash to Ficeto JVB, then flash kernel then go straight to v10 final (replace rc6 in instructions with v10 final)

My antivirus software keeps on deleting the Ficeto JCB when I try to open, saying it's very suspicious. I'm sure it's fine but I'm a bit reluctant to switch off the antivirus software when I'm opening programs I downloaded from a random server.
Can I flash using the Mac, have done this with other phones, or do I need to have the Samsung drivers installed, which as I understand are PC only?

Flashed to v10 last night. Delighted with battery. Much better than v9. Currently on 68% unplugged it this morning at eight. Granted that is with minimal use. Wifi on since five. Small bit of browsing. Few unanswered phonecalls.

Have had a slight problem with the ROM restarting randomly twice.

What version did you flash up from?.. 9.x?...

I'll give it a go now...

Titamium backup is the best for backing up I hear, is that right?....

I used mybackup the last time alright but apps were all messed up...

Pressing Vol. Down and the home key will get you back into download mode.
    Don't worry. Phone isn't bricked.
(maybe its vol. up, but try vol down first)
Happened me before. Nearly had a heart attack!!

Hi, you need to do some reading.
    There's a good article here http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S_Series
Look at the bricked phone, section 3 - that is the screen you are describing.
It says initially that the phone has to go back to samsung but then pulls back from that.

If you can't get the phone into download mode using the three button combo then you will need a piece of (homemade) hardware to get it into download mode and then you go back to odin.

You can buy the homemade piece on ebay. If you're techy you can make it.
    Here's a link - http://cgi.ebay.ie/samsung-galaxy-s-download-jig-/150563813700

Here are some videos showing how it works
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rdn5GoRjhn0

So all is not lost but you may be out of action for a few days depending on how long it takes to get back into download mode.

PS Three button combo is Volume Up/Down (varies) + Power + home button. 3 Buttons at the same time.

I pm'd you, but here it is, don't sweat, these phones are unbrickable as you dont modify the bootloader. pull the battery and reboot into download mode by holding Volume-down + Home key + Switching-on, then use odin again. Make sure you have the right Ficeto jvb zip, not the captivate one.

    Crazygeryy

I remember now how to get out of it.
This happened me before. Pulling the battery out and restarting won't help. The conventional 3 button combo won't help. It doesn't work when you have the screen you describe.

You need to press vol. down + vol. up + home key.
This wil get you back into Download mode.

Don't press the power button at all

When you're back in download mode be sure to have Odin open before you connect your phone.

Check out post #3 at the following link
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=751210
But for our variant of the SGS you need to press the home key instead of the power key.

I really cant be arsed to go through all the silly questions that people have about things that have already been answered either here, the Galaxy S thread, or by a simple googling.

I will say one thing. If your phone can get into download mode (power, vol-down and home key) then it is not bricked and can be fixed by reflashing. I use EZmod as my base, then reflash the next things over that.

Search for your problem on XDA >> forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=656
or darkys community forum >> www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php before posting here. Almost everyone has had the problems that you have before and chances are that it has been fixed.

If you read crazygeryy's posts you will see that the problem was that he couldn't get into download mode. It wasn't a silly question that he asked .
Googling that issue tells you to press vol. up + vol. down + power. That combo won't work for the variant of SGS we have in Ireland.
It needs to be vol. up+down + home key.
I had that same issue before and couldn't find an answer. It was just by chance that I tried the vol up+down + home key combo.

lol you couldnt be arsed answering silly questions but you said youd post a reply at 2.50 am in the morning anyway.

well for those of you that were ARSED i thank you again.and any silly questions i can answer for anybody feel free to ask.

ps i will give you one thing, i did calm myself down, googled it and was just getting it fixed when pog mo thoin and g1032 were answering me, so your right i could have done it myself but like i said i panicked.

it must be brilliant having the answers to everything though eh.

When I wipe the phone before putting on Darkys will it wipe the internal SD Card.. should I put it the backups on the the external SD card or is it ok where it is?

    thanks

Wiping the phone won't delete any files / fodlers saved on the Internal or external SD. It just deletes apps/settigns. But backup to external SD just so you always have the backup.
    You never know what'll happen!

    Thanks Ste-

Have changed the setting in Titanium to backup in the future to the external drive.

Remove your external sd card before flashing. Some recommend that you also remove your sim card.
