AH FECK! Didn't realise (despite the name) that this was a tag-team tournament! I had my Green Arrow Vs Pliskin decision all ready to roll... til I scrolled down! D'oh!

    Cool pairings. Really unexpected duos.
Every team was the result of feeding the competitors into a random number generator. There are some rather interesting pairs still to come.

Just curious if people would be interested in seeing teams change each round or not?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,971 ✭✭✭Orim

If it doesn't take too much work I'd like to see the teams change every round. With a lot of the people being fairly evenly matched, the unusuality (real word? if not, patent pending) of the teams is making things interesting.

Could also add some some interesting dynamics if the former team memebers come up against each other and we could use that. Although that would add more work in your write ups (which have been fantastic so far :))

Really means nothing for me to rearrange the teams each round. I just feed them into a random number generator and see what comes up

You had until midnight Sunday, but thanks for getting in now.
    CaptainPrincess lead 2-1

Wait now, are we doing weekends for this tournament?

Snake Plissken should have got a weekend, toatally could have come up with a justification for him winning his fight, which may or may not have involved cyclops style lasers beneath the eyepatch.

Also, I highly suggest that the next tournament be a purely Bruce Campbell event so he can get past the first round.

The Friday matches run until Monday. I has something special planned during the intermission for Bruce.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,971 ✭✭✭Orim

I hope it's special. Bruce has suffered mightily in these tournaments.

That why I tried to stop using him in these things. Although him and Hulk did quite well when I teamed them up.

Votes like these are why I keep doing these tournaments:

Fischer and Taskmaster take cover instantly, knowing they're in for a fight.

Caine and Conan appear in the dusty mainstreet of the old town. Lacking a common tongue, but programmed to be on the same side, Caine tries to indicate they should move down a side street to find a less exposed position. Conan sees this as avoiding the fight and starts moving down the left side of the mainstreet, kicking open half rotten doors looking for his opponent.

Fischer and Taskmaster have gone their seperate ways, Fishcher being an expert solo operative and wanting to utilise his famous sneak&kill skill.

Taskmaster comes across Caine slowly prowling down a side alley. Caine busts out some kung-fu, but being a master of the art himself, Taskmaster is able to counter. Caine attempts more offensive attacks, while Taskmaster merely deflects and learns. Confident he knows the should-have-been-Bruce-Lee's moves, Taskmaster moves in for his own attack, perfectly predicting the counters and taking Caine down. He finishes him off with some MMA shiz and snaps his neck. Somewhere Mags looks on approvingly.

Conan is moving through rooms, sword raised, being as stealthy as he can, but he's massive, the stink of sweat and baby oil off him signals his presence in the dusty dead air of the ghost town saloon. Fischer stays to the shadows, sees Conan as a serious threat in hand-to-hand combat, so drops a few bullets in the back of his head. Conan is dead.

Taskmaster and Sambo meet in the mainstreet, enjoy a fig roll and touch willies. Truly they have won this day.

Kirk defeats Luther in a good ol' fashion game of Ro-sham-bo'. A swift kick to the nads takes down the billionaire.
Meanwhile, Xena and Batgirl have a Batarang versus discus(?) duel. While Xena's opening throw appears to miss, a series of unlikely and frankly bizarre ricochets (off walls, rocks, batgirl's own Batarangs, Kirk's toupé etc.) cause the discus yto hit home, rendering Batgirl unconcious (but unharmed as is the way of Xena's pre-watershed show).
As this is pre-watershed Xena refuses to let Kirk 'take the spoils of war' and drags him to the next round where she promises the green animal women of Rigil 9 await.
    Stephanie Brown is being underated.

Determined to not allow history to repeat, she refuses to go down, no doubt eventually having to go save Luthor who'd be able to hold off Kirk but not win I think.
Thanks to everyone who has voted so far. :) I promise the remainder of Round 1 is filled with some seriously odd pairings and highly intriguing bouts.

Funnily enough I saw this going more towards Tasky taking on Conan in an epic sword duel whilst Fisher and Caine engage in a stalking duel through the crumbling remains of the town.

Methinks, I has just influenced voting unfairly. In the future as the only non-voter I will put my votes if you will here.

Apparently my reading comprehension fails :o

Although Sam does always carry his sticky cams with him, which have the knock-out gas.

Wait a sec... where'd my quote go!?

I always go with Cybes carefully picking the load out, a fully equipped Splinter Cell gent would have taken on pretty much anyone in this tournament.

    Bah!

    :)

Fair enough. Like I said I not really familiar with certain competitors this time around. Besides, Fisher and Tasky clearly had the fight won even before your vote.

Well, if you was quoting from another thread you would need to confirm that you wanted to quote that post as well on this thread.

I just hit multi-quote and wandered over here. :)

But yes, I think Sam Fisher should be limited to pistol and blade. He's usually able to take out most people with the bare minimum, give him a full load out and you're looking at a near unstoppable wunderkind. :)

Howdy Swan. Care to weigh on this debate? Does Sam Fisher usually carry knockout gas emitters, or not?
