Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I recieved the following email
I appreciate your interest to adopt my monkey, her name is Hana ,she is not wild at all because she is home trained and she is very healthy and has her health document .but i think it is good to know a little about your surrounding before giving my monkey to you.So please if you don't mind then i will like you to give me answers to the following questions.

    YOUR SEX...........................
    NAME OF YOUR COUNTRY.............
    DO YOU HAVE CHILDREN.......................
    ARE THEY PET LOVERS...................................
IS YOUR HOME SAFE FOR PETS........................
    DO YOU HAVE OTHER PETS.......................................
ARE THE PETS FRIENDLY WITH MONKEYS........................

please answer this questions in a christian manner for me to decide if i will give you the monkey. And i will send to you a copy of the health document of the monkey tomorrow
    Waiting to read from you.

This will not end well. Have you not seen Friends? Your monkey will begin to hump everything. In fact that's probably why it's being sold.

This might be the alcohol in me talking but I think you should buy it, strap homemade wings on it made from pillow cases and throw him off your house to see if he can fly.

You do realise monkeys are HUGE jobs... They require loads of attention and full time looking after. They're quite pricy and they take huge amounts of money to keep from food to caging and medicial checkups

It's not a scam, I know the christian family that are giving it away.

OP can you prove that you're an adult/over 18?

Handiest way to do that is to PM me your credit card details, I'll look after the rest.;)

This has scam written all over it.

You should make some enquiries yourself. Why the free adoption? When's the last time it was at a vet? What does it weigh? What are it's dietary needs? Can you have 30 days grace, whereby you can chose to give it back if it doesn't work out?

Make them pay for a full check up for the monkey before you take it off their hands.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,220 ✭✭✭✭biko

    Of course it's a scam.
But for fun, offer to pick it up in Carlow tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,159 ✭✭✭✭phasers

I do not see where the scam comes into this. I'm not saying it isn't, just that it's the lamest one ever.

If it's real, adopt it and give it to Dublin zoo.

After answering his list of questions i received the following
Am happy to read from you.I believe all what you have said but please you should keep on your promise to take very good care of the monkey okay. The monkey is home train
and have very good behavior and closed relation with other pets. There is nothing to worry about the distance because this is not the first time i Am doing this and it is always successful, and am giving her out because i will be going out of the country for a buissness and there will be no one to care for her.So if you will be taking her, then you will have to promise me that you will be sending pictures of the monkey to me monthly just to let me see the present condition of the monkey and how she is doing with you.So as i earlier said i am located in England and the monkey will be ship to you from England and all you will have to do here is to pay for the money for her transfer of ownership papers.(Adoption papers.) and that will cost you $210 and that will be all you will have to pay.The reason for the papers is that everything will now be transfer from my names to your names to prove that you are now the new owner of the monkey because everything will now be made in your names. So if that is okay by you, then get back to me with your full shipping information which i will be using to book the flight for the monkey. So i will be needing your information as follows.
    NAMES...................................
    COUNTRY...................................
    ZIP CODE........................................
    STATE/CITY.........................................
    CONTACT PHONE NUMBER.......................
    NEAREST AIRPORT TO YOUR LOCATION.........
The airport will be needing all the information so that when the monkey arrive at your location you will have to go there and pick her up.So i will be Waiting to read from you asap.
    Thanks.
    Tim
So much for being free and in Carlow

I remember a guy coming into work around Christmas, and while I was talking to him this little head pops out from the back of his neck. He had a baby monkey clinging onto the back of his neck, hidden by his hood. When I mentioned it, he asked me to keep it down 'cos he didn't want people bothering him! :pac:
