So basically the HPRA are as useless as a chocolate teapot.
Right so we are waiting on the EMA to advise on the Chinese and Russian vaccines.
Have they even started a procurement process or looked into if they’ll use them or not?

There is of course the whole problem that Russia and China have massive vaccine orders already that they aren’t able to fill because of production limitations, meaning any order we place now go to the back of the queue unless they judge send a few our way is good for propaganda.

By the time any orders for these bare fruit we will be swimming in the vaccines already procured

The EMA are conducting a rolling review on data for sputnik but neither Chinese or Russian vaccines have applied for approval from the EMA.

The EMA don't make procurement decisions. Either the European commission or our own government could make a procurement decision. So far they haven't.

No , was saying it was over 24 hours since getting EMA advice

Will any of them ask if we have been offered the Sputnik vaccine why we don't take up as much of an order as we can so that when it's approved here with can then administer it?

Someone else who believes it’s just sitting in a fridge waiting for orders?

Wouldn't surprise me if such questions are screened, inexcusable if the Irish government turn down a readily available vaccine on basis it originates from Russia.
Not an approved vaccine is why they turned it down.

Can people please just hold firm for another indefinite period of time.

This lockdown restrictions is really affecting everyone and the government's lack of clarity clear information of a potential end game plan isn't help, the government and NPHET should be on the same page with the same message, hopefully we can get quicker and increase vaccine roll out

No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change this World

Firstly they are not screened. Seccondly, save the rage until the 'if' becomes something more.

Who's going to manufacture the Sputnik? It's not like there's a billion doses lying in a warehouse somewhere in Russia.

Guy from the journal just asked this question.
(Stephenmjcd and a few others had already addressed it multiple times in the vaccinations thread.)
    Briefing Answer:
EMA Rolling review is under way but at an early stage. If vaccination is approved it will be to up to government and the procurement bodies to obtain supply.
There is no reason to go outside the EMA as it would require substantial resources.

They could do a deal with the Russians now and have it in place shuld the EMA approve it, but no....

Good man Journal reporter for asking about Sputnik.

Sputnik costs less than $10 a shot, 2 shots $20, enough for the entire population would cost less than €100 million which is pocket change in the scheme of things, the economy is losing more than this per day. We should have an order in now while it's awaiting approval.

The HPRA are great at what they do but they are not set up, trained or experienced in how to deal with a pandemic. In normal times, a slow cautious approach where calculated risks are not taken is great but during a pandemic that approach will kill people.

Why can't they just lay out a god damned plan. If we are at x by y date, z happens. Then if we are better 4 weeks after that, this happens.

Is it really so ****ing hard to give the people some idea of what they are planning?

    **** sake

Yes, it is hard, because this virus is completely unpredictable.

Do you want them to tell the future? What is it you expect them to do?
