    Mod warnings:
    1. Please interact in a civil manner
    2. Do not tell others what to do, or what to post
    3. It is against site rules to seek or offer any medical advice. Please do not post here about your symptoms asking what to do. Contact your doctor by telephone and they can advise you as appropriate
    4. If you have a problem with a post report it and leave the modding to the mods

    In terms of thread content:
    • Treat everything you read here with caution. Anything posted is from an anonymous internet poster. You cannot assume anyone has any "specialist" knowledge whatever they claim
    • Statistics are important to some (and I personally pay a lot of attention to them), but they are of very little use to anyone who is already caught up in this, or indeed knows of people who are caught up
    • Whatever your own views are please recognise others are entitled to different views., Even if at different extremes please do not try and repeatedly ram your views down the throats of those who have differing views
    • Cut out any cover-up/conspiracy stuff. If you have a reliable source quote it (not just their words but provide a link to a reliable source) - otherwise your claims carry little if any weight. If you wish to discuss conspiracy theories we have a dedicated forum for that and it’s not this one
    • If the likes of the HSE have a verified Twitter account we can assume what they post is accurate. Randomers on here or elsewhere cannot be considered "official" or "reliable" sources
    • If people wish to flout the restriction rules that is up to them. They cannot complain at the consequences, be that direct action from the authorities, exposure in Social Media (not here) or being shunned by locals, friends, family etc. If they post about it here, or encourage others to flout the rules, trying to appear macho, or thinking they are above the rules or simply being a smart arse, posting privileges will be removed
    • If you don't want to see discussion about Trump perhaps stay clear of this thread between the hours of 22:00 and 01:00. This is a thread for "breaking news" so please do not expect posters to discuss things happening "now" in other threads. It's not discouraged but equally posters expect to discuss such issues in this thread (added 14/04/20)
    • There is absolutely no good reason top try and forecast or predict daily numbers, so do not do so

All threadbans carry over, but we will reconsider if anyone wishes to discuss it further via PM

Don't read the Examiner so, they are saying March/April will be the most difficult months. No personal services or non essential retail till May. I don't expect a timeline but an indication of metrics to open would give some hope and a goal to reach for.
It's either the media or government but someone seems intent on pushing people over the edge.

Cabinet meeting was due 90 minutes ago.

If there's no credible leak of the new plan before Martin's TV announcement, I will eat my hat. It's so blatant at this stage that it can only be deliberate.

The thread has been running for 13 months, and over 300,000 posts

Relaxation of Restrictions has a quarter of the posts, but 60% of that number on the naughty step

We will do everything we can to avoid a 4th lockdown. The strategy for the Government to do this is to maintain the 3rd lockdown. But we will gradually ease you from the burden of your own children and send them back to small, medium and large crèches. Meanwhile... here is some more cash which your children and grandchildren will pay back...

It's from Donnelly, best to be ignored. He couldn't even get it right about the schools yesterday. I sometimes wonder does he just play games on his phone during cabinet meetings.

He seems like your nice but dim friend, that you encourage to do and say stupid things.

No doubt some cabinet ministers do be feeding him a load of ****e information and wait till he goes on the radio for a laugh.

I read the data about the drop in hospitalisations and transmission due to the vaccine. Over 18 million have received their first vaccine dose. The UK royally fùcked up at the start of this but while we will still be hoping to get to Penny's sometime in May it's looking likely our neighbour's could be experiencing something akin to normality in the same month.

Donnelly came across as a right tool on CB last night.

Bringing up that he was unsure if the schools opening dates were actually confirmed. When in doubt shut your mouth. Was he trying to bring attention to himself or seriously that stupid.

I agree. However, the sh1t that's going on his personal life with his family home and security. That's completely unacceptable and would make anyone prone to goofs. Not saying we should cut him some slack that'd be overly generous. I do think we should bear in mind that many of the statements he is currently making are likely not with the clearest of minds.

Donnelly has been inept since the very first day he got the portfolio. He now has prehaps the heaviest workload of any sitting minister. He's responsible for Health, the vaccine rollout and mandatory quarantine whenever Helen gets the finger out. Even for a competent person that is far too much responsibility, Martin should grow a pair and reassign some of the workload to the multitude of other wasters currently underemployed.

Donnelly always comes across extremely rattled to me. A guy with a major chip on his shoulder who always comes across like he’s about 3.5 seconds away from completely losing his shlt. I’d say he’s hard work to work alongside

Gript claims that members of the Independent Scientific Advisory Group have recently been instructed to “look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety, and uncertainty”. The revelation comes from a trove of hundreds of emails, draft documents, and ISAG internal communications that were recently leaked to Gript.

Not the biggest fan of him either but the threat to his family home is horrendous. Something similar happened to Simon Harris when he was health minister if I recall. It really is the poisoned chalice of ministerial positions.

    We'll agree on this retro.

I get a sense of a lot of passive aggressive anger in him. Like he's always simmering, ready to go off at any moment. It leads to a lot of stilted awkwardness.

Neither had I. But after reading another of their stories today, I take it all with a pinch of salt
A group of senior university scientists have said travelers might need to be vaccinated every time they go abroad.

In a new report published by the Royal Society Journal, several eminent scientists from Oxford University, Cambridge and elsewhere have cast doubt on the longevity of vaccine protection, prompting them to suggest travelers might need to be vaccinated for every trip they take.
