Why is a visor ban in Tony’s sights? Are other countries advising against them?

I don’t know too much about their supposed effectiveness compared to masks but even if it is much reduced, would it be comparable to wearing a mask incorrectly or using a poor-quality cloth face coverings? Or are they just reckoned to be useless generally?

This whole farce is very dehumanising. I'm pretty sick and tired of listening to moralising idiots drone on about Covid 19 like as if it's been some kind of life's work they've been "battling" forever- all on full salaries with oppurtunities out of this.
I'm working away myself on full salary but I'm absolutely furious about what is being done to other people (supposed "lesser" beings like I've read numerous times as they may not have the tenacity to get a third level education)- I tell you one thing if the professional classes (like me) were all on €350 per week we would not be seing this carry on. It's deeply shameful

I saw a headline today with his face bald head on it ****ting on about banning visors- i didn't bother reading any more as that's enough. The cult need a new pointless ruel to rally themselves- visors will be this weeks.

Why would I post figures from January until May for excess deaths from Covid-19 for a country that did not have it`s first Covid-19 death until March 11.
What I posted shows the average daily deaths for 12 weeks with no Covid-19, compared to the corresponding daily deaths in 2020.
Do you somehow believe those daily increases had nothing to do with Covid-19 ?

As to deaths in both countries during the period of the first wave. Sweden, who have little in common with Ireland, on a per capita basis had over 40% more deaths from Covid-19.
Multiples of that when compared to their Scandinavian neighbours

Guys, I wouldn't worry about that -1.5% increase overall that some have commented on. Ireland is a small country and you can observe nearly 10 % difference between some years in death rates in the same period of the year. What I have shown is that this year is perfectly normal in terms of deaths in general and +/- a few % is within the norm.

But I am rather worried about the lies we have been told by our government, the media, etc. that most people can't see.
There is not much point for me to publish the calculations again, but when you deduct the claimed Cov. deaths between Jan and May from this year's numbers to compare it like for like with previous years, you can observe about 13 % drop in deaths. That doesn't make sense, obviously.

I am in identical shoes. With no commute etc. i actually get more money to spend than pre covid. I dont even pay mobile broadband like.. i am at home 95% of the week.

What does infuriate me is hearing that 45% of our youth are unemployed because of this deadly virus that has caused -1.5% mortality in first 5 months of this year in comparison to last year, as Fintan says covid is raising the dead. Young people should be out there working, acquiring skills and experience. not sitting at home drinking cans or eating dominos and binge netflix watching, we dont need next generation to become obese and depressed, cost of that will be worse than 10 covids.

We are living in some idiot world where the minute we stop doing something and cases rise the next day, idiots come out and say "ohhh cases are rising because we stopped doing X Y Z"

Funny enough the reverse does not happen. 10th of Aug onward cases started to increase. we also started doing something else on 10th of August. O well lets not question that particular measure. Cases started to rise because people got complacent, co incidentally 10th of August onward.

Yea, I work from home anyhow so just less business travel for me which has it's advantages. Saved a bit too from the whole thing but conscious i need to spend a few bob and keep things going for other people too.

So agree about the netflix narrative...I'm not exactly a geriatric (only in my mid 30s) but we were raised as it being deeply shameful and lazy to be sitting at home doing nothing like this - now it seems to be de rigeur done thing. I fear the longer this goes on it's fostering a situation whereby you can do nothing/achieve nothing (see LC exams cancellation) and still be handed on a plate what you want without any of the hard work, risk and sacrifice needed in life.

And rightly so... The size of the virus (about 0.1 um) is much smaller than pores in a HEPA filter (0.3 um). So, how a piece of rag (with much larger pores) can stop it? It is like building a garden fence to stop mosquitos flying through...

Yeah, he's some genius. His argument boils down to if we open things up for Christmas, we'll be back in lockdown in January. So instead we should stay in lockdown for December, and delay Christmas to the end of January and all party then.

So.... instead of lowering restrictions in December, resulting possible lockdown in January, we should just continue with the actual lockdown until we get "cases down to single figures or zero". And this will be "much more profitable and pleasant for everyone in Ireland".
Never mind the fact that he then wants everyone to "delay Christmas until the end of January and have a real Christmas and a real party then" which would put us back in lockdown by the end of Feb anyway.

You can also tell he's an idiot because he's talking about zero-covid and citing Australia as an example to emulate. While ignoring the fact the we still have zero restrictions on incoming travel, and share a land border with a country we haven't managed to agree a common Covid policy with in the last 8 months, which won't get any easier since we're about 9 weeks away from a hard Brexit.

About the best thing you can say for Tony Holohan is that at least this lunatic isn't running the show.

We have heard all about how bald tony is, visors are flawless, masks are useless, the risen from the dead (that argument ignores the obvious in the most retarded fashion) and best of all is the genuine heartfelt concern about the youth playing too much playstation.

The only thing I found credible were some fears around increased control around the unvaccinated. Still, that is a fear of what might happen in the face of what is happening for real right now being ignored.
