Has anyone ordered one in last 24 hours and got a confirmation mail?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 674 ✭✭✭GalwayGaillimh

I ordered another white one on the 9th got whitescreened no email confirmation received...order was showing under tracking though...first was payment being processed...then order was being processed...then nothing...called in to vodafone today and they checked it up on the system and rang customer care...was out of stock apparently...so order cancelled and a refund on way...

To update on my own ordeal, ordered a simply black on 7th with 48 sim and all looked ok with confirmation email received but subsequently cancelled by Vodafone some 10hrs later under “order criteria limitations”. Tried again on 8th and ordered a simply white as only version in stock, again order looked good with confirmation email received but again order cancelled by Vodafone later that night under same “order criteria limitations”. Both orders were showing as pending on my credit card for a couple of days.

Ordered an Eir sim via a family member as despite multiple orders and email confirmations they aren’t sending me any. Tried again on 12th and ordered a simply white as again only version in stock, same details as previously except using Eir sim instead of 48 for porting. No issues with order and email confirmation received, order status showing as “your order is being processed” on Vodafone website and as of last night there was no record of it on Fónua.com website. However money taken from credit card last night and today order status is showing as “Despatched” on Fónua with subsequent AnPost tracking showing it in the Dublin 12 Parcel Hub as of 20:08 last night so hopeful of receiving it today.

Phone arrived Thursday, just testing it out and setting it up last night as it'll be a gift. Really surprised with how good the camera is. Portrait mode I think is far better than the same on my Oneplus 7pro. If only it had more storage I'd have gotten one for myself.

Now coming up as €270 and the 3a XL is €420

Ordered a phone this morning and met the white screen.
Money taken from account but no confirmation email.
How long before funds are returned or confirmation that order went through?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 170 ✭✭bliger

    white screeners:
it was already mentioned in this thread, if you ever bought anything from vf before you can use your old confirmation number to see your current order status

Rang Vodafone they said my first order was cancelled and second order was stuck. They then cancelled the second order and If I want to try again it might work. This feels like a slot machine

Sorry seeing now the 3a is out of stock and that price for the 3aXL is before the ton discount so it's working out at €320.

Thanks, will need to find another way as dont have Vf number.

Ordered last night but got a white screen. They cant seem to find the order on live chat. Although I can see it using an old order number that their was order placed yesterday also. Payment was taken and processed. Not a pending payment.

Took a while to get it up on their system, had to guide them, order stuck and will be refunded.

I really need a white one before Xmas.

Has anyone managed to order one without getting a white screen?

Yes earlier in the week and it arrived today. I think white screen might have to do with the incorrect porting (e.g. 48 or one of those instead of Eir etc)

I tried there with a 3 sim and got an error message to say they're updating their site and to expect downtime.
Money is pending in my bank, but no confirmation email.

Several users have gotten the white screen with the EIR sim so I don't think its just Tesco and 48. Really think its luck of the draw at this point. Ones going on adverts in Dublin & cork for 240. If I was closer I just get them and save the hassle and frustration of dealing with the vodafone website

As in topping up with credit? Yes.
Then I make a call or two, and send a text or two.

Do you have an Eir Bill pay SIM? Can you confirm if Eir WiFi Calling is working on the Pixel 3A? You will need to into the phone settings menu and turn on WiFi Calling - if it is supported. If it works, you will get the WiFi calling icon on your toolbar (telephone receiver and small WiFi symbol). It definitely won't work if your SIM is pre-pay or unregistered.

I literally just took the eir simcard from the pack and ported it. didn't top up. successfully worked twice, with same simcard, to get two pixel 3a

You wouldnt know if you were just lucky with stock levels though. I might try again with me eir sim, even though I have one pending for over a week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 816 ✭✭✭Tango One

The status of my order is Your order is due for dispatch. Third time lucky maybe. I did register my detail with the eir sim first and used the exact same detail when purchasing on Vodafone website. No idea if I was just lucky or that made a difference

    Unnecessary tbh

I've bought a black and a white 3a now and only popped the Eir SIM into my old
phone to receive the code from VF during checkout. Never topped 'em up / made calls etc.

How did u get the sim without credit? They wouldn't give me the sim without buying credit.

Although they were sold out from the Eir shop so I had to buy from Carphone Whorehouse.

Gah, the dreaded white screen! Is there any chance of the order going through, or should I resign myself to looking for a refund?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,264 ✭✭✭deiseindublin

I'm still waiting on a SIM so I can try to buy this deal.

What's this dreaded white screen that lots of posters are on about?

REALLY hope I score myself one for Christmas at this amazing price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,316 ✭✭✭dan786

White screen twice. 360 Euros stuck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,815 ✭✭✭Charlie

After getting white screened twice, one of which is still showing as ‘order processing’ (and I need VF to cancel and refund), I tried one last time over the weekend. No white screen, order email received, and as of this morning the order is showing on both VF’s and Fonua’s sites as due for dispatch.

Looks like it’s still possible to succeed with this, but an absolute roulette with the white screen issue.

EIR sim was prepay... Literally just put it in a phone to receive the code for the Vodafone checkout process.

Got the white screen on Friday.

Does the refund come through automatically eventually or do you need to contact them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,767 ✭✭✭funnyname

Can't afford to get white screened just before Christmas, is there any fool proof way of doing this?

I have one of the free sims from Eir, does this seem to be the most successful way of doing the transaction so far?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,316 ✭✭✭dan786

White screen is random. Happened to me on Eir and a Three sim on different devices with every single detail being different.

The order is stuck and it takes ages for them to even find it if you contact them, then cancellation takes 72 working hours and then refund another 6-7 working days. So anyone looking to get one keep in mind you may be waiting until after Xmas or even New Years for a refund.

I finally set my phone up. New baby in the house and every time I picked it up I had other things to do.

Seems like a great phone so far. The camera is unbelievable in nightmode. Took pictures of the little one in almost darkness and they came out very clear.

Wondering what the legalities of taking people's money without any intention of fulfilling the order, and subsequently cancelling the order without notifying the customer of either confirmation or cancellation.

The extra cash on hand can't hurt their end of year reports.

Could we get a bargain alert for a class action lawsuit going here?

You’re mental if you think any of the above is true.

Anyone who missed out on the Pixel , it might be worth looking at the Samsung A40 . I saw it on the other thread.

Not sure how they compare spec wise but at €89.99 you can’t go far wrong via three.

It is also dual sim which is a great feature.

It's serious value for money this phone, it's quite rugged and a good bit more plasticky than a normal Pixel, but the camera is as close to the same as a P2 I think, if anything, it's just slightly slower with a bit of a blurrier screen...

I have a Pixel 4 XL and saw one of these a few weeks ago and was very impressed with how good it is for the money...

Camera is same as pixel 3. The 3a doesn't have the dedicated pixel visual core which means it a little slower to process pictures but nothing that would put you off using it.
