2 people were crushed to death in a night club where i lived in the UK when there was a stampede to not miss the last bus back, so I can well believe there are crush injuries if people have panicked hearing the bangs. Police won't take any chances until they know exactly what's going on, protocols galore, understandably, for possible terrorist incidents.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Took me probably 10 mins or so to get out last night. 6000-10000 people panicking could take longer

If it's an exercise, the people in the arena are taking it seriously from feed on news channels.

Maybe nothing, but other people running, imagination runs wild and the panic snowballs.
You see the nonsense and wild claims that appear during every incident.

All it takes is one moron to say "that sounds like gunfire", the twenty people around him panic, and before you know it there are 1,000 people rushing for a small exit because some balloons were popped.

You and me both P. Folks have become so (naturally) twitchy about such things, but I really hope it's what you said and few people are hurt. Sad event, regardless. :(

    not sounding good :(:(:(

There are fatalities according to sky

They are reporting that the railway lines in the adjoining station are blocked so the explosion may not have been in the arena.

    No doubt now.
I wonder who was responsible, could be that blonde Mormon girl again.

Strange that it took so long to get this confirmed as an attack.

It is too early to tell if it is a diversity incident or a false alarm, that outlets like Sky are reporting it as a bomb like event and the police are asking people to avoid the area suggests it is more than a false alarm.

They would have quashed the panic before now if there was only a false alarm, hopefully it is not so but it is following a predictable pattern.

    DIVERSITY INCIDENT?

    For ****s sake

Yeah, but a speaker could have blown, people run and panic, people get crushed. That's an "explosion" and "casualties" - "fatalities" even.

And I'm no "Nothing to see here" merchant.

That sounds bad. BBC radio 5 live which is based in machester are as usual doing a great job in case anyone wants to hear the latest.

Both are mentioning it. Explosion, fatalities.

Sounds like people crushed in the mayhem.

BBC interviewee now reporting being thrown threw a door by an explosion.

RIP to the people who lost their lives.

    Hope it is not terrorism.

People could have died due to a crush. it would be sad if bang was innocent and the result was panic that led to people losing their lives.

Well possibly, but it may have been some sort of crush following something happening that wasn't a bomb.

    Sky now saying fatalities,

Initial reports on twitter had it made out to be a speaker blown and people were over reacting.

    Hasn't been confirmed an attack

Actually looking like a panic because people immediately thought that. There were confirmed fatalities most likely from a stampede

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,717 ✭✭✭✭Danzy

Unfortunately there are reports of fatalities coming in via the Manch

    https://twitter.com/gmpolice

At this stage the police there will have a very good idea what has happened and if they knew otherwise they would be ensuring that the wider public had an inkling that this was an accident rather than a targeted act.

Eyewitness being interviewed on BBC saying there are a large number of fatalities just in the ticket area outside the main arena entrance

possilby a gas cylinder may of exploded

    very sad and scary

They're usually not slow to indicate an attack, and the advice is so rarely "avoid the area", usually "stay indoors" or something similar, in case there are multiple attacks.

It sounds like they're pretty sure there's no attack (or no further danger), but they don't want to speculate as to what has happened.

Why? Because hard left policies have come home to roost?

A disgraceful event, many of them likely children, all brought to you by the after effects of New Labour 1997- 2010.

Christ, you really couldn't wait could you?
Children possibly dead and using it to point score. FFS

It looks like fatalities will be lower due to the absence of gunmen but what really happened inside the Bataclan was horrendous and was not reported in the mainstream media.

Hope this is some kind of gas explosion that might have caused a crush rather than a terrorist attack.

You have to wait a bit before you can claim "attack", especially if you're not sure...
