2 people were crushed to death in a night club where i lived in the UK when there was a stampede to not miss the last bus back, so I can well believe there are crush injuries if people have panicked hearing the bangs. Police won't take any chances until they know exactly what's going on, protocols galore, understandably, for possible terrorist incidents.

They are reporting that the railway lines in the adjoining station are blocked so the explosion may not have been in the arena.

People could have died due to a crush. it would be sad if bang was innocent and the result was panic that led to people losing their lives.

At this stage the police there will have a very good idea what has happened and if they knew otherwise they would be ensuring that the wider public had an inkling that this was an accident rather than a targeted act.

They're usually not slow to indicate an attack, and the advice is so rarely "avoid the area", usually "stay indoors" or something similar, in case there are multiple attacks.

It sounds like they're pretty sure there's no attack (or no further danger), but they don't want to speculate as to what has happened.
