Just hearing about this now. LBC taking calls from people in the area, and those attending the gig. Suggestions are that the explosion did not take place in the actual arena, but within some of connecting corridors, or foyer areas. Police confirmed that there have been a number of deaths.

It sounds like it was a massive explosion, if its not gas then can't think what would have caused it other than a bomb.

What about a fault at a railway electrical substation. Hence the loud Bang outside the stadium ...would certainly explain why the trains have stopped.

People killed in the crush leaving the stadium due to panic???

I have no idea, so this is all guess work.

That's a possibility, but the "explosion" doesn't appear to have occurred inside the main concert hall.

No images of the effects of an explosion yet in this age is unusual. Saw some pics of people with what appeared to be lower leg injuries not unlike the Boston Marathon bombings.

A&E person tweeting balloons full of gas exploded and there was a panic/crush. Dunno how true that is.

Far-right "personalities" and websites on Twitter already attributing the attack to ISIS and reporting gunshots being heard.

Of course, if it turns out to be an accident they face no repercussions for their role in the spread of unhelpful fake news.

Hopefully there's no more loss of life whatever actually happened.

No it was not. There have been many videos from inside the arena. It was not pyro, it was not a speaker blowing up.

That was my second thought after terrorism but reports seem to indicate it was outside the arena proper ie in the foyer/concourse area.

Double effect of explosion and panic/crush. Not good. Hillsborough comes to mind. The explosion wouldn't even need to do the damage.

If it was anything but a diversity incident, the police and the British Govt. would be going all out to reduce this down from becoming the global story it is on the cusp of being.

They would state there is no casualities indicative of a bomb or shooting, no damage to structures or evidence of a blast etc.

Unless the Manchester Police are lying?

There is no 25kv lines at Victoria station. The station is below the arena so it makes sense to evacuate it also.

Not sure gas filled ballons would make a loud enough bang to be heard in buildings away from the arena
