Anyone with the new model having problems? Only got it yesterday and it's randomly rebooting and getting stuck in a boot loop. A factory reset didn't help.
    Getting it replaced by Amazon.

This was happening to mine, I had to pull the power to get it to stop looping and would eventually start again. I was not impressed to say the least.

Found this forum discussion on Nvidia site:

    https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/988814/my-nvidia-shield-keeps-rebooting-/#5063364

Disconnect Ethernet, disable Location Services, re-connect Ethernet.

    I haven't had a reboot since.

So I got the new Shield. I have sideloaded All4 and 3 Player, both working no problem. RTE player won't install and Eir Sport app crashes.

Anyone else have experience using catch up services? What works for people and what doesn't?

Seems to be doing the trick! Thank you! My son can now happily play Goat Simulator...

Is anyone else having issues with the Amazon Video app?

I changed the language to English US and it appeared and I can log in and browse.

However, no video will play and videos that show as 'Included with Prime' only have an option to rent/buy when I click through them.

I have the Gen 1 shield with the latest update.

You need a PRIME membership to operate it. Do you have a prime membership ?

Does any one know if the shield can be controlled even if it's hidden away in a cabinet?

    Thanks

Yes, the remote isn't IR. Bluetooth I think.

Do you need a mouse to use 3 Player? I've installed it, but it's in portrait mode and selection is difficult with the remote.

I installed an app called Set Orientation. Let's you set all apps to Landscape. The remote works fine once you get past the initial login screen.

No guys, USB or not, it appears as an item inside the accessories app, but shows a question mark and says "Not connected". Even though I could be using it to access the app.

Also, took 3 or 4 attempts to get the remote control to update firmware, but got there in the end! :)

I will try and leave it connected via USB for a longer period later on and see if that solves it.

Did you get it working? Can't get my controller to work without being connected via USB.

No, left it plugged in for 4 hours and nothing.
It does work, just the Shield accessories app says that it's not connected, and I cannot update the firmware as a result.

I only think it works, as I've had it paired previously before the software updates in the past.

The Shield and the Evga 1070 for the young fella arrived and got to play with the Shield today. This is an amazing device, delighted with the buy and passes the missus test instantly as I already have a Plex server. I have it added to my Harmony remote. The Shield has replaced three devices in this house. My custom pc with OpenPHT, a Chromecast and a Google Home.

I'm amazed at how good gamestream works. Played GTA, Battlefield, Doom and Dirt, couldn't get Overwatch to run even though it's supported. It's flawless, zero lag. GTA runs on Ultra settings with a constant 60fps at 1080p

Geforce Now works well too, you'd not know it was streaming from a remote server, plays well.

Having a weird experience with prime video on it too.

I can play Sneaky Pete episode 2 but not episode 1, it tells me I need a US based credit card to buy it in HD for $0.00.

I'm a bloody sucker for this device! Got my 1st one back in 2015 and I've just pulled the trigger on my 3rd Shield TV.
Sitting room, bedroom and man cave are all Nvidia zones now!

    Hi there

Just wondering where I could order one of these? I've checked amazon, scan, argos etc and they are either not shipping to Ireland or don't have it in stock

    Any tips would be appreciated.

Order on Amazon and use Parcel Motel or Parcel Wizard to facilitate delivery.

Should I have the Amazon prime video app? I thought I did before updates. I signed up to the trial yesterday but can't see the app. I've changed my setting to English USA and disabled location but it's not there. Do I need to sideload or is the official one available?

Hey folks, I see that the shield is available in Curry's now. Would this be the new model and is €250 a bit steep for it?

There are no old ones available, they ran out of stock long before the new one was released. €250 is not a bad price for bricks and mortar but you can get it for €216 on Amazon plus Parcel Motel

Thanks for your reply. Really tempted to pick one up but the only thing stopping me is that I'm currently stuck with a 32 inch non hd tv. Would it be a waste getting such a powerful machine when I don't have a tv to match it? Will be getting a new tv in the next few months hopefully, just have other priorities right now.

It's probably an even better idea to get one when you don't have a smart TV.

Ya I came across a review of the nvidia where the writer argued that plugging something smart into something dumb is preferable to investing in a smart tv that may be out of date a few years down the line. The nvidia seems to be fairly future proof with all its specs. I think I'm convinced, might have to go shopping today :)

Is the new one worth an extra €100 over the old one?

I think the only difference is the controller or remote has voice activation/google home built in, the older one I have doesn't.

I regularly used the smart features on my Samsung TV (Netflix, youtube, Plex...) but since getting the Shield I don't. The Shield is a great device, the interface is simple and app just work. Loving it to be honest.

Added bonus is its gaming capabilities. Have played Borderlands and Portal, have a couple of emulators set up. Will probably sign up for my free trial of the Streaming service over the weekend and give it a bash.
