It streams really well. It is 3 times the price of a Steam link, but to me well worth it.

Took me a day to warm to it but I can play all the GTA's I bought on the play store as well as the Final Fantasy's I bought at half price.

The Google music app is well done, as well as YouTube.

I have every emulated game known to man on it and it has a built in Chromecast.

    Happy for €160

Anyway I could get a copy of all those games, or are we talking whopper amount of data?

Just as an FYI Argos are selling 64Gb Sandisk microSd cards at the moment for €17.99 seems to be plenty of stock around and as far as I can tell it should work fine with the shield, I will pick on up tomorrow to check http://www.argos.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10152&catalogId=14551&langId=111&productId=686650

yes there was originally but the beast developer seemed to have pulled it. I've gone back to theblackboxostv build as I find it more stable. Also as far as emulators go I would subscribe to this chaps youtube channel as I got a megadrive and N64 emu up and running thanks to him

Ordered mine and it's coming tomorrow.
Only reason I bought it is because the Apple TV doesn't have private listening which the shield has. I could have bought an expensive set of headphones (more) or got the shield and used my existing sets which Indecided to do.

It is a great buy Blazer.

Sound search in apps is a great feature that works really well.

I finally play a lot of the Android apps i bought when on sale but never played.

However, the sound using the 3.5mm jack is not that great. More than adequate though.

I'm not sure if there is an app like firestarter that they have for the firetv stick in there you can select to update for either the beta or nightly builds. I doubt firestarter would work on a non-Amazon box

what is the best way to install KODI nighties on Nvidia Shield?

    This might work:

[APP] [Windows] Nvidia Shield TV Utility App v0.08 - sideload your apks to the Nvidia Shield TV via USB or over the Network

Huh, never thought to use nightlies with Kodi, just usually went for the stable versions.

I see the nightlies are based on the upcoming stable release of 16.0

Any benefit of the new version over 15.2? :)

Thanks moonboy, that's a handy little app to have!
Save me saving a bunch of apk's to dropbox! :D

I loaded torguard onto the shield but it's obviously not controller friendly...any way around or another way of setting up a vpn client?
    nevermind..a mouse works :)

Great news for TRUE-HD audio in KODI/ANDROID...seems to be a breakthrough and hopefully included in next KODI build.

    I got it last night!

Only thing I noticed is a different style volume display :)

Must look into the new features.

The integrated memory sounds like a good feature.

So, if I stick my 128gb usb stick into my 16gb shield, I'll essentially have a 144gb shield?

I was just about to order The 500 GB bundle with remote and controller from Amazon UK for £219/€277 unless there is better value to be had elsewhere? If there is Pricespy has not found it...

€259 Amazon France, I think it ships with inter changeable uk plugs for the power supply
NVIDIA SHIELD PRO (500 Go, SHIELD Controller inclus) + Télécommande SHIELD Remote https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B015RN2ZWA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_OLm0wb0KS2X08

Thanks, but that is showing as €299 for me?

Have any of you rooted your Shield? I see there is a thread on XDA Developers.

Must have gone up in price overnight it was €259 when I posted, must have been a daily special or something!

So the price here seems to have gone up for the pro 500g, controller, and remote bundle to £255/€327 on Amazon.

Was there a promotion on that has ended?

Deal of the day for the 500gig £169.99

Doesn't have the remote but tbh you should really stick a wireless keyboard on this!

Good deal, although for browsing YouTube and Kodi etc., having a simple remote to navigate is definitely worth the investment.

Also, regarding the keyboard, although I can see it would be useful for say typing complex repo URLs into Kodi, the voice recognition software on the Shield, activated by pressing the button on and speaking into the remote, is the best I have ever seen - it does make mistakes, but the vast majority of the time it actually gets things right. Why type into YouTube when you can speak? :p

I'd agree, the remote is my most used peripheral, it makes the experience.
