    Quick update on Amazon Prime.

I forgot to cancel my membership before the month ended and only noticed when 97 euro was taken from my bank account. Luckily Amazon still offer a refund if you cancel membership within a time period of paying the money!

What kind of price would people be willing to pay for a Shield TV?
Just wondering, bought an extra one for a mate and he no longer wants it,
still sealed in its box.Now I'm just asking,I know this is not the place for selling..Hope the mods don't mind my question.

Yeah it's the 16GB with the game pad. It's £149.99 retail from Amazon and
Nvidia direct.I'm not looking to make a crazy loss on it.Just seen they are in
Short supply.I'd let it go at cost price(no profit).Think that's fair enough. But thanks for the reply,I appreciate it.

Given the scarcity of these recently, none available from Nvidia.co.uk, Scan.co.uk or Amazon.co.uk along with Amazon.de no longer doing free shipping.

I'm hoping that the following may be useful to some ;)
Amazon.es have stock of these at €199.99 (€201.42 with Irish VAT) with shipping to Ireland at €6.01.

There should be some price drops in the next month or so on these, now that the new 2017 version has been released.
Basically the same device on the inside, with a redesigned case (and a 500GB hard drive).

With the new Nougat update, and a (possible) good reduction in price, this will become a must buy!

Cant believe after 2 years, it's still the best set top device on the market. It's a fantastic device.
Great to see the android updates still being applied to it too.

The new controller looks a lot more comfortable than the old one. That's my only major gripe with the 2015 model. It's a bit too unwieldy, especially when I'm playing SNES games.

Is Google Assistant confirmed as coming to the older model Shields? :)

There's a mic in the flat remote that I have!
    Will that not work?

There is a mic on the 2015 controller too but they are not actively listening.
(Not sure why they cannot update the firmware for them though)

Wouldnt the old controller work fine when mic is pressed, that was the whole point of the mic in the first place. not sure where this you have to have new controller for voice came from ??

I guess we'll have to see what's what when the update arrives.
According to XDA screenshot of Nvidia on social media, it's rolling out right now. :)

Hi, just wondering how the gaming works on this? Do you pay a monthly fee? it is mostly online gaming?

You can play all the Android games like you would on your phone so. Can download them.

There is also downloads available from nvidia which can be downloads or can be via online gaming has options.

There is a lot of options on it including emulators too for older consoles.

They have a large range of titles that can be streamed, but you need to pay the monthly charge.

For no extra charge (but only if you've a Nvidia graphics card), you can also stream games from your PC via the Gamestream app. Works great for me but I mainly use it for games that require controllers. Dark Souls works great.

You've a few options. You can buy from their store - they sell games like Half-Life 2, Doom and Android games which you can download and own. You can also subscribe to GeForce Now which is their game streaming service - they've recently restructured their prices and it's very pricey. You can stream games you own from PC to the TV via the Shield, which works really well.

The main draw for me however is emulation. The Shield runs everything from 2600 to Amiga to Dreamcast games and with some tinkering, you can even get Gamecube games running in a playable state.

What Dreamcast emulator do you use? Always wanted to play Shenmue.

Ahh if I could run my old Amiga games it might be worth while....just to have another game of Syndicate

Reicast - it runs like a dream, if you'll forgive the pun.

    Here's some Gamecube stuff.

To play the games do you need to download them to the device? So if you go with the 16GB device you run out of capacity very quickly?

Or can you play them out of cloud?

You talking about the Nvidia streaming service or general games?
For general games (android games or ROMS), that can be copied to the internal HDD or on a connected USB storage device.

    Streaming service.....

If general games etc I would put onto system but if I was just streaming games do they require HDD space?

You dont need space for streaming games and the Nvidia app to do it comes pre-installed.

Finally got to play Shenmue last night, thanks for your suggestion!
It works great on the Shield except for some odd polygon artefacts around Ryo's eyes. Other than that, it's great. No slowdown at all.
