That quote is in fact on the main board, was in fact posted by me, and is probably where Sarky got it from

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,148 ✭✭✭✭Lemming

Sarky, do we have any means of downloading information into some sort of viewable form? Or do we need to memorise?

How big are these service tunnels? Walkable or do you have to crawl in them? Do two people fit in next to each other?

Qwertz: I really think you should have left the stuff you put in your last comms post for your next turn, as we're not in a position to go anywhere right now

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,726 ✭✭✭qwertz

    That better?

  • Registered Users Posts: 748 ✭✭✭Zounds

yah, that works far better, imo at least.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,726 ✭✭✭qwertz

Even though I would love to add something about (or against) you religious nuts :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 748 ✭✭✭Zounds

well as Vollbart would have observed: I'm not Argeus anymore and Raiden wants very little to do with religion

You are a religious men as long as you wear your fancy robe. Just kidding but you should know that by now.

I think we already have a plan qwertz, see p1 of comm, Before explanation of Zounds's...condition

Hey guys I'm not going to around much over xmas finished up in work today untill next wed I'll try to get on and post if I can. If you want to continue with a turn or so just assume that dominicus follows along silently, just shout orders and he'll do em.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,726 ✭✭✭qwertz

Shouting at Dominicus: "RUN, BOYO, RUN, ALL THE WAY TO THE HANGAR."

Unfortunately there were too many vicious creatures in his way...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,880 ✭✭✭Raphael

Hmm....anyone else object to using Dominicus as a suicide bomber now? I slap on an anti personnel charge, and we send him at the Tau. His death will not be in vain....

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,726 ✭✭✭qwertz

I am Dominicus, the human bomb.

tagging someone with a plasma grenade and sneding them into a room full of enemies IS a surprisingly effective tactic

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,726 ✭✭✭qwertz

Maybe our great leader Sarky will give us secondary characters for this very purpose.

BTW: happy holidays to all of you nutcases.

Sorry, been very occupied. The brother brought his PS2 home for Chrimbo, and he bought Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. I'm sure you can understand... :)

Anyway, regarding the service tunnels, think of the ones on the Enterprise in Star Trek. You could walk through most of them if you crouched, but they could be bigger. You could fit 2 aside down most of it, but single file would be a lot more comfortable, and a LOT quieter..

I also cannot be too sure how often I'll be online for a while. Work is being... Unco-operative... I'll be able to manage twice a week, at any rate.

You can all have a small data slate if you really want. Lemming, I'm still working on your character (I'm REALLY sorry about the delay!) and he won't have to bother because he can have some nifty implants/photographic memory or something (PM me with preference. Actually, if you could send a list of things you'd like bolted on to him in order of preference it would help a lot...).

Happy Christmas, I'll try and post up another go tomorrow...

MERRY PAGAN FESTIVAL THAT CHRISTIANITY STOLE FOR COMPETITIVE REASONS THAT WAS THEN BASTARDISED BY COMMERCIALISM

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a new graphics card to bask in

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,726 ✭✭✭qwertz

What's a data slate? Keep in mind that I am a bloody foreigner.

Is that something like a tricorder on the enterprise or a pocketpc in our days?

  • Registered Users Posts: 748 ✭✭✭Zounds

More like a PADD, Merry Christmas all

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,726 ✭✭✭qwertz

    Thanks!

As soon as consensus is reached on what you're going to do, I'll post a new turn up. I'd really rather play Wizardry 8 than second-guess everyone. :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,726 ✭✭✭qwertz

How about we all head down the tunnel till we all reach the junction. Sarky could prepare a little surprise or provide us with some more information.

Alternatively we all head down the tunnel till the junction and split into two teams.

Arkerius (tech priest + flamer) and Vollbart (security/security systems) to engineering.

Raphael (explosives) and Argeus Roe (flamer) to the generators.

I believe that Raphael will share my opinion about the split. Domenicus in either team, preferably to engineering since Raphael and Argeus Roe have quite some firepower already.

Yeah, and ye'll have the most of the numbers to slash and burn your way through

Oh, I may post late a lot over the holidays. NWN now works on my main PC \o/

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,967 ✭✭✭✭Sarky

Get yourself Hordes Of The Underdark ASAP, it's even better. Mmm, Epic Ranger dual-wielding goodness...

Anyway, I'm going to take that as meaning you're all heading to the junction, at least. Very well. I will indeed have some surprises for you. I'm the GM...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,880 ✭✭✭Raphael

My cousin is getting it, I intend stealing. That is once I complete it.

Oh, and my chosen character in DnD is sorceror. And NWN = DnD

Seeing as combat may well start in the next turn, here's how it goes:

In GURPS, each combat round last one second. It might seem like much, but anyone who's ever been in a fight will know that one second in combat is a long time... :)

In each turn, you can do a couple of things. Available actions include (modified because I can't be arsed working out all the details in the full rules)-

Movement: You can move half your Dexterity in yards in one go. You can move further if you run/charge (add half your health in yards on to the movement). You can fire while moving, but there's a penalty to hit (depending on how fast you move), and you can't aim. Other move actions include jumping, rolling, climbing, and whatever else you might think up. Ask me.

Melee atack: If you're close enough, you can attack with whatever's in your hands, be it chainsword or rifle-butt. You can target specific body parts at a penalty to hit, but potentially causing much more damage.

Aiming: Aiming your gun gives you an accuracy bonus for the first shot fired. The bonus depends on the weapon, but rifles (especially sniper rifles) get quite hefty bonuses. The bonus is effectively added on to your skill with the weapon, sometimes making it impossible to miss. Aiming for more than one turn only gives a +1 to hit each time, and you can only aim for three turns at most.

Shooting: You can make one shooting action per turn. This may mean more than one shot, depending on the gun's rate of fire (see later). Like melee combat, you can target specific body parts at a penalty and potentially cause much more damage.

Defense: You can try evading attacks by either dodging or parrying. You can't parry gunshots unless you're close enough to parry the weapon (point blank range). Parrying also might leave your opponent more open to an attack the next round.

    Weapons:

Chainswords, knives, and such: Close combat weapons, although you can throw knives. Chainswords are effectively well-balanced high-powered chainsaws, so they're effective, but noisy. normal blades will have severe trouple against armour unless you find a chink, but chainswords can cut through as well as giving a damage bonus.

    Lasrifle:

    Damage: 2d6
    Rate of fire: 8
    Accuracy bonus for aiming: +13
    Shots: 100
You can fire multiple shots a round, and all hits on the same target are cumulative, meaning you could do 16d6 damage to one target a round!. This represents the lack of kickback and a laser's ability to burn steadily through anything if held steady...

    Heavy bolter:
Damage: 8d6, target armour is halved.
    Rate of fire: 10
    Accuracy bonus for aiming: +5
    Shots: 60
A fully automatic weapon, firing armour piercing gyro-stabilised mini-rockets with a mass-reactive detonator, so the rounds explode AFTER penetrating. Aim at a single enemy, or you can aim at a GROUP of enemies. Tell me which beforehand, I'll work out the specifics of how many get hit and so forth.

    Flamer:
    Damage: 8d6
    Rate of fire: 1
    Accuracy bonus: +5
    Shots: 30

Flame weapons are special. They can do a lot of damage, and you can hit more than one enemy with a single shot, but you have to split the total damage between everyone hit. It does 8D6 damage, but if you fire at 8 people each person hit only takes 1D6 damage, which most armour will stop easily. The advantage of this is that everyone hit can catch fire (taking further damage), and it's a great tool for scaring people into retreat.

    Sniper rifle:
    Damage: 7d6
    Rate of fire: 1
    Accuracy bonus: 15
    Shots: 5

Sniper rifles do a LOT of damage, and with the bonus of aiming, headshots (and thus instant kills) are easy. It can only take one shot per turn though, and there isn't much extra in the clips.

    Meltapistol:
Damage: 2d6x10 (yes, that's right. 2d6, multiplied by ten.)
    Rate of fire: 1
    Accuracy bonus: +3
    Shots: 5

Really powerful, but not too accurate, and very little ammo.

    Frag grenades:
Damage: 6d6 concussion, 2d6 shrapnel damage

The concussion damage doesn't actually harm anyone from a hitpoints point of view, but rather it means the force of the explosion which could knock you prone or knock you out. Frag grenades are dangerous to unarmoured troops (2d6 shrapnel on bare flesh), and even armoured troops can be knocked flat by the blast (concussion), leaving them prone to a knife in the throat...

For the sake of simplicity, there are two buttons on a grenade. Press the first once for every second delay you want on the fuse, and the other to start the countdown. From Raph's last post you'll realise he primed his grenade for 5 seconds...

I'll give stats for other weapons, when they become important. That's all being carried right now.

(Raphael, we'll work out the shaped charges later. Suffice to say they'll be powerful enough if you blow up what I want you to. :) )
