Was nuts they were not prioritised on the initial list.
I'm biased here, but we had a very coarse way of evaluating risk in the past year. NHS in the UK had 3 levels of risk, we basically had 2 - cocoon or not cocoon. I made the same point here about targeting the first batch of doses to where the highest risk areas were, but certain posters with big reps complained that it would slow down the rollout... somehow. There's a lot of clueless number crunchers floating about who can't see the practicalities of an immediate problem.

to add our high risk groups did get divided last year and info was there on the difference between high risk to serious disease and very high risk versus high risk of catching covid due to being vunerable eg a person with downs syndrome may not be able to follow the guidlines or even be in the first high risk group due to heart defects that a percentage of them may have as a result of having downs syndrome.

Is there a dedicated team and minister to the roll out?

No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change this World

There is a taskforce headed by Brian Macraith, who is thankfully not a politician of any sort.

This would be brilliant for us if true. Because our government are taking that reduction into account in estimating right?

So our MoH says we've allowed for a shortfall that the company now claim they won't have. Does anyone actually believe AstraZeneca anymore?

This would add almost a million doses to our current June target of 82% first doses, could have that much closer to 100%

He's just repeating data from the vaccination task force and the HSE. That's what all our politicians do.

"When the neutralizing antibodies went up against the homegrown strain, their effectiveness was cut in half. By comparison, when these antibodies encountered the coronavirus strain that’s now dominant in South Africa, their effectiveness was reduced to one-sixth of their usual levels.

“I do anticipate over time it is going to have an effect on vaccination,” Chiu said. Though the magnitude of the effect varied from sample to sample and was less pronounced than with the South Africa strain, “it still is concerning,” he said.

Most important quote from that article.

I remember because the level of neutralising antibodies with the mRNA vaccines was so high to begin with, that 1/6th of original levels was still "very high" and offered good protection. 1/2 of original levels is nothing to worry about.

I wouldn't believe anything that comes out of Gript, they totally made that **** about the leaks up. This is just good old fashioned "Bad news sells".

Its a weird one. They've recommended mRNA for group 4 as well so does it wait until the over 70s are done? Or do they start with group 5 using astrazeneca? No idea

My understanding based on the bit and pieces I have read....Group 4 and I think group 5 will get MRNa. Group 6 will get vaccinateed in parallel probably with AZ.

So group 6 should start around the same time as group 4, probably early April.

Can we just assume every city in the world has it's own localised variant and stop reporting on new variants every other day?

So, if I'm understanding this, its possible that someone who was previously in Group 5 based on their age and is now "demoted" to Group 6, might actually end up getting their first AZ dose quicker because other members of Group 5 have been bumped up the list but have to get in line and wait for the mRNA shots ?

From the information I've received, which I believe to be very credible the story is true and it's going to be death by a thousand cuts for that particular group over the coming weeks. No harm considering they are completely undermining the credibility of the vaccines.

Better start saying your prayers now. Where's a good exorcist when you need one? The devil is here!
