Anyone know is this a new announcement and would it make a significant impact on rollout?
I had 900k - 1 million allocation of AZ in the projections I was doing so not new news?

My 92 year old mother got her first vaccine today at her doctors in Rathfarnham, it was the doctors first day administering them.. They were doing a brisk trade and the nurse said that by 3.30 they had done about 100. My mother was in and out in about 20 mins, in that time I saw about 15 people going in and out for the jab. The whole process was good and everyone seemed pretty happy and i did not see anyone with adverse reaction. My mother skipped out of the place afterwards, well as much as a 92 year old can.

    That’s all?

How are Denmark planning on vaccinating everyone by June if we’re getting the same allocation?

    Shocking stuff

    Danish projections are including J&J

They had a very slight head start and are counting unapproved vaccines in their projections.

congrats but have to ask the question does the gp practise have 100 85 plus year olds? :D
And did they get to wait alone or with others for the post 15minutes if 15 came and went during the 20 minutes or were they people there for normal gp apointments. thanks

Ya so based on that Gavin Reilly tweet they are supplying 900k in Q2 but the original committment was 1.8m so this isn't news to us might be to the Germans and of course rte would rehash it for miseries sake.

818,000 in Q2 according to the gov document posted below so doesn't look new tbh.

Will be interesting to see if the J&J numbers come through

I would say they do, they have 4 doctors and it covers a big suburban part of Rathfarnham. Rathfarnham also I would say has a big population of older citizen. It was straight in really when she arrived, they were taking them as they walked in the door. I didn't see anyone there for normal appointments. When the person was vaccinated they put stickers with the time that the person should leave (15 mins after vaccination). The vaccinated waited in a room that was a bit too small in my opinion, there were seats for about 10.

I must admit I'm surprised at how ambitious the vaccine rollout is from the Taoiseach's speech. I hope he delivers!

Also just on the observation period, you do have to wait 15 mins atleast even with the AstraZeneca vaccine. It can be longer period if you have particular allergies etc.

Do you sign something to say you will wait around afterwards? They surely dont have security stopping you leaving immediately after the jab if so choose ? Id much prefer to wait out in car for the quarter hour . If keel over,my partner can drag me back inside

Considering the not inconsiderable anger and fatigue in the population at the moment, it wouldn't be very wise to make projections you can't hit.*

    *supply permitting, of course.

A fairly positive timeline of vaccination was necessary. People are being asked to buy in to another 6 weeks. Hope the vaccination targets are met or, as near as possible.
Personally think it might be a month later.

I wonder how it will work for the general public. Will it be first come first serve?

I know I shouldn't get sucked into Twitter comments, but the negativity there is staggering. It's almost as though they all want the vaccination programme to fall through just so they can say "I told you so".

Taoiseach confirms AZ announcement today is factored into figures

The numbers for BioNtech/Pfizer seem very smooth.. maybe a little too perfect. BioNtech are only going to start shipping from their German planet in the middle of April and even then it won't be at full capacity for a few months. Maybe they will have enough capacity to fulfil the EU order in full and others will be left waiting (The plant was financed by Germany) but don't be surprised if the April target is missed by a lot.
J&J - they have issues with their US production. Not sure if that is a sign that they could have problems in the EU as well. Hopefully that is accounted for here.
AstraZeneca - 80-90m was what I was expecting given their problems. They might be able to exceed that.

Curevac could start shipping in the second half of Q2 but it won't make a huge difference.
Novavax are boosting about some huge production numbers - 150m a month from May. The EU hasn't signed a contract yet but there is a chance we could see some vaccines from them in May/June.

It is below normal up to day 7 as known cases will not be getting the vaccine. It tends to the mean as unknown cases on vaccination or those who contact it just after vaccination but before immune response show up in the data, and then rapidly declines as immunity kicks in

I know there are so many great vaccines but looking at that, it’s Pfizer and not AZ that is breaking the back of our vaccination drive.

Imagine how much slower things would be if that hadn’t worked??

Looking at the Irish figures they just hadn’t adjusted for the AZ shortfall. We also have included Janssen

Given the prevalence of loons at 82% first dose by June there won’t be too many adults waiting for their first dose

Who is David Higgins and on what does he base his assertion pubs will definitely open on?

    Also, summer.

Summer in Ireland is an opinion. It can be between April and September depending on your take on it.

The pubs should be open yesterday, but the vaccine timeframe means that by right they should be open by late April- all vulnerable plus some vaccinated.

Based on numbers (in bold) provided by Micheál Martin, looks something like this:

    544735.jpg

Note: To get from 1.25M to 5.18M, you need to administer 1.3M doses per month for April, May and June. That's about 43,000 per day.
