Am I the only one who thinks Tony Holohan is really diligently doing his job currently in the face of massive adversity?

Listening to the radio this afternoon it really felt like it.

Granted he did do a terrible job with cervical check, and the nursing homes at the beginning of covid, but other than the massive loss of life that caused by those, blinder.

Government would do well to take NPHET's guidance fully on board tomorrow and not do a 180 in a fortnight because they didn't take the public health advice and the situation is dire.

No you are not. He's doing a great job.

If people won't engage in honest debate and at least acknowledge the fact that if restrictions are eased around holiday period that cases can and will rise, numerically, then there's no point engaging. If we're arguing over the difference of a week then it's academic.

Of course they will rise but we can't just constantly live in lockdown, is this the only option, its seem like nphet have no other plan but the harshest lockdown in Europe.

Define great job. Our death toll is far higher than the likes of Denmark and Slovakia who have similar populations to us. We've had several recent outbreaks in care homes and hospitals and yet the conversation gets turned onto takeaway pints and worry charts. If this is a great job I'd hate to see a bad job.

    Far from it

Public health experts give public health advice

It doesn’t need to be popula.

Particularly his quip about Tony riding back in like the lone ranger having been away... glossing over the fact that he was away due to a terminally ill spouse...

School outbreaks now taking hold , 12 in killkenny , 6 in a school in Tipperary and up to 20 In cork ..
What’s causing the sudden school clusters, complacency setting in ?

So that partly explains why Kilkenny had loads of cases today and again a few days ago. There are 6 cases in a school in Thurles , 2 in Clonmel and 12 in Johnstown Co Kilkennny. And that doesn't include the ones that have been covered up

Staines on about quarantine for incoming travellers

    That won't work

A negative test 72 hours before arrival as a condition of travel here would be better than any quarantine.

Terrible numbers yet again. Zero chance of pubs opening imo. Would be the height of irresponsibility by the government.

This is the time for real leadership. The government have done an outstanding job up until now. Let's not drop the ball as we head into the end zone.

But, he's right. We're not Australia.

Just like those advocating for measurements like the ones in Sweden.

It's hard on them but they have to realize it's for the common good.
