So in summary, Trump cowers and allows Putin to order the murders of his own American soldiers and won't even say a word when the story goes public, then turns around and calls those same dead soldiers losers for being murdered.

Say what you want about the Donald, but he’s bang on the money about the straws.

He's come out with a pretty quick denial, which usually means it's true. Next step is the taken out of context? Or the yes he said this part but not this part? Then the "he's not wrong in what he said and it's about time someone had the balls to say it, what a man"?

I've almost forgotten the steps at this stage

So, this is proof-free as well? Trump telling SHS she had to go to North Korea and, uhh, "befriend" KJU because he was 'fcuking hitting on her'?

I mean the Atlantic article isn’t that hard to believe because:-

    - He’s said he believe John McCain isn’t a war hero because he got caught and he’s said that on camera.
    - it’s in the divorce of his second wife that his daughter Tiffany would be cut off if she joined any of the Services. It’s also been reported that his son don jr was thinking of serving and reportedly the president was very unhappy.
    - non of the family have served in any way.

He tweeted last night "I never called John McCain a Loser".

It's in the thread of the tweet.

But as always with Trump - There's a tweet proving the exact opposite.

It is a pretty sorry state of affairs that a story such as the POTUS calling dead service men 'losers' if even a thing.

That it has got to the point that it falls into the realm of 'well, he has made similar statements in the past' is shameful.

We know his feeling on McCain, he hated the guy. We know he failed to run up to the graveyard. So for whatever reason, he disrespected the servicemen that lost their lives but no bothering to attend. The story at the time was that it was too wet!

Either way, this story goes to highlight how awful this POTUS is in terms of representing what Americans believe is them.

There's a quote in the Atlantic Article that perfectly captures his fundamentally damaged and corrupt mores.
Trump, while standing by Robert Kelly’s grave, turned directly to his father and said, “I don’t get it. What was in it for them?” Kelly (who declined to comment for this story) initially believed, people close to him said, that Trump was making a ham-handed reference to the selflessness of America’s all-volunteer force. But later he came to realize that Trump simply does not understand non-transactional life choices.

He can’t fathom the idea of doing something for someone other than himself,” one of Kelly’s friends, a retired four-star general, told me. “He just thinks that anyone who does anything when there’s no direct personal gain to be had is a sucker. There’s no money in serving the nation.” Kelly’s friend went on to say, “Trump can’t imagine anyone else’s pain. That’s why he would say this to the father of a fallen marine on Memorial Day in the cemetery where he’s buried.”

If he doesn't personally benefit , he's just not interested and cannot comprehend the concept of a selfless act or actual Public Service.

Jeffery Goldberg is standing by his reporting in The Atlantic.
WP is also reporting Trump questioned why the army goes and searches for missing troops.

So much for "Law and Order" the police are now killing Trump protesters in revenge mob style executions

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/sep/04/man-linked-to-death-of-far-right-protester-in-portland-shot-deadby-us-marshals-reports

The guy admitted to shooting a counter-protester in a Vice interview and was already charged with carrying a loaded weapon and resisting arrest in July. Why would the cops take any chances with him?

Let's not add to the fog by jumping to conclusions. Give it a couple of hours/days for greater clarity before using terms like "revenge mob style executions".

Now apply same logic to the 17 year old Trump supporter who went on a hunting trip

What point are you trying to make?

By the sounds of things, there was a gunfight that led to this person's death while Rittenhouse turned himself in. That is not to defend anything Rittenhouse did prior, but by the looks of it the manner in which each came into justice are pretty night and day.

    That didn't happen.
And if it did, it wasn't that bad.
And if it was, it's not a big deal.
And if it is, it's not Trump's fault.
And if it was, he didn't mean it.
And if he did, he was being sarcastic/he's said worse.

You would think that after 4 years his supporters would have at least learned to hold off on the support and cries of fake news for at least a few days until Trump comes out with at least the 3rd version of the truth

While it ought to come as no surprise given Trump's attacks on both the press and military 'losers', they're (Trump administration) now trying to shut down the "Stars and Stripes" military newspaper that's been available to military personnel since the American Civil War.

    What's that about?

Trump supporters don't see truth as an absolute concept and don't care about it, it's about point scoring and "winning".
Everything the opposition says has to be viewed in isolation and contradicted. You cannot go back to an earlier argument and point out the contradiction, because there is no logical connection between separate arguments.
"All that matters is how far those claims travel, and how many people believe them." He further said that truth is an obsolete concept, stating that "It’s something that can’t be thought about in a linear, binary true-false, facts-non-facts – you can’t do that anymore

I think its been going on since before the most recent controversy. They removed its subsidy ($15.5 million) from the 2021 budget weeks ago.

Basically the Tump administration wanted to eliminate S&S in their 2021 budget request by providng zero funding. The House disagreed and included the funding in their budget bill but the Senate hasn't yet approved their version of the budget. So Trump admin are trying to get in there now and shut the publication down before the Senate can pass a budget bill preserving it. Weird move to make at this stage when Trump is already on the backfoot with the military.

I don’t know but at a guess maybe this paper wasn’t genuflecting enough to the dear leader who took offence to it ? It’s probably not that but it’s as good an answer as any.

Alongside the reported removal for funding for the paper by the Pentagon in Feb this year, the funding is controlled by the Senate Appropriations Committee - membership 16 GOP, 15 Dem. Some of the GOP members are true-blue trump supporters while some might see the paper as value for money, particularly for forces morale. I can't see it being pliable enough to become a party paper for either party BUT...

The Pentagon moved to strip funding for Stripes after Defense Secretary Mark Esper ordered a defense-wide review of spending practices in an effort to reallocate funds to prepare the military to fight a major near-peer rival, such as China or Russia. Esper defended the funding cut for the newspaper in February, telling reporters in Brussels that the money would go to “higher-priority issues.”

Seems that the Fox news sycophant who got one of the #IMPOTUS border wall contracts built a wall that's going to fall down. This isn't terribly new, I remember a story from earlier this summer about it. But, as there's no amount of taxpayer dollars that are too much to spend on an #IMPOTUS vanity project, there's now been an engineering study confirming the tiny bit of wall built through the butterfly reserve will fail, just a matter of a big enough rainstorm.

Makes the whole 'At least Trump did what he said he was going to do' even more laughable.

From getting Mexico to pay for building the entire wall to only building a few sections with all showing signs of failing within his term is just further evidence of his incapacity to do the job he said he was going to do.
