I said “ you are not wearing a mask, masks are mandatory, you are not respecting people’s safe space, please obey the rules” it’s simple guys, if everyone confronted the antisocial potential spreader nodes for covid19 that would go a long way towards modifying their behavior.

You are setting yourself up for trouble if you keep confronting people.

Face shields now an acceptable alternative on public transport as per the HSE. I'd imagine the same will probably apply to shops.

Disgraceful. The little scientific evidence that has been ascertained shows face shields offering inadequare protection to others. The swiss have banned them, I think. The increasing risk of airbourne transmission really should have dissuaded the hse from making this decision.

Im not sure are they just uninformed or inept. Bit of both probably.

You did read the reason for it didn't you?

Its to make life a bit easier for people who have hearing problems.

Additionally, our use of masks is more about freer movement. The heavy lifting in reducing the prevalence of the disease has been done by restrictions, distancing and testing.

And removes protection from everybody else.

I have a great deal of sympathy for the hard of hearing, but allowing faceshields instead was not the right decision at all.

Im a big fan of giving him a send off, but there was barely a mask in sight, plenty of cops and no social distancing and nothing being done about it. Don't understand the logic at all.

There are some folk who post on this thread who will say you're fretting about nothing. The virus is well gone from the community and that it was only coffin dodgers in nursing homes who got it. Move along, nothing to see here.

Well there is no other way the hard of hearing would be able to lip read, or should we just forget about their needs?

In case it wasn't clear I assure you the devices are analog and don't require any power hookup. There are a few promotional images of wearers with earphones so perhaps this was too misleading for some.

So much for the articles about how great we are at wearing masks in stores.
Was in a busy petrol station earlier.
    23 customers and 3 staff I spotted.

Only 3 customers including myself had masks.
The rest none to be seen as they all queued in shop to either buy stuff or pay for fuel.
And that not wearing masks included one staff member and another staff member took hers off talking to someone.

And people then wonder why we can't open pubs.
If this is what perfectly sober people think and do how the flying fook can people be trusted with a scatter of pints in them.

We have a laissez faire attitude to rules, with an attitude that shure what the feck it will be grand.

Well it will not be grand because we will undo all the effort to date and fook it up.

I am not allowed discuss …

Thats all well and good but how difficult is it for ordinary people to get them in times like this.

Ordinary people can order them online like everyone else. Now you've gone from 'there's no other way' to 'ah but that's mildly inconvenient'

When the store attendants start becoming ill I imagine they'll go to window-service only.

Utter nonsense. The same store attendants would have been safely dealing with the public throughout the pandemic and probably don't feel like the risk level has dramatically changed since Sunday night, despite the lies and bull**** from the mask nazis.

I'm using fact-based hypothesis, it's already happening in the US.

Whereas I'm sure your "lies and bull**** from the mask nazis" has substance to it - given our exchange in this thread to date I'm sure we've already covered most of the bunk  "bull**** from the mask nazis" just makes you sound unhinged.

The petrol station in the town nearest me was if you had no mask you go to the hatch , the manager was doing spot checks and was giving the elderly locals masks to wear if they wanted them. It was great to see a business taking a pro active approach and looking after the staff.

So it's already happening when customers aren't wearing PPE. "Utter nonsense" I was just told :pac:

I find the psychology of this mask wearing very interesting

We're being forced to wear them for psychological reasons.

It's behavioural science rather than medical science that is driving this—in order to keep fear levels high and sustain the hysteria.

cite the behavioral science that confirms that allegation?

    One example.

The petrol station and shop I was in this morning wasn't letting anybody in without a mask. Guy was at the pumps telling people before they got fuel and plenty of signage on it.
All other shops here were insisting on masks.

Nothing to do with a pandemic, rising numbers and increase in people mixing. Good to know.

Visors make it harder to hear people than masks. We been wearing masks and or visors in work since February and once you get used to the masks they are easier to wear and people can actually hear you talk. The visors are more annoying to wear and less effective at reducing transmission.

Many pubs are already open. No masks required in them though. You can take your time and eat and drink to your heart's content without a mask, but if you don't wear a mask while spending 60 seconds popping in and out of a shop to pay for petrol you'll be judged by the same people who were banging on about staying in lockdown until there wasn't a single case of COVID-19 left in the world.

Is this honestly your view of what’s happening because that would explain a lot.

Question on masks.. I've been away with work , no need to go into the shop last week or two, what is acceptable as a covering? I need petrol today and don't have any proper mask, but I don't want to go in without one. Is a buff ok to use as a covering? It's like a tubular scarf? Or does it have to be a mask?
