Early party polls are showing the SF seat in danger in Dublin. Daly split the protest vote, and Cuffe from the Greens having enough to take the 3rd seat there. FG might get 2 seats in the North West - early indications are McGuinness, Ming, Carthy, with Walsh in a scrap with Casey for the last seat. No FF seat there at all, and transfers kind for FG in general. The traditional FF vote is being put into coffins and buried.

South has Sean Kelly 'home and hosed'. However there's a bit of worry in FG about carrying a 2nd seat down there. Significant protest vote for Mick 'Tax for other people' Wallace might have an impact on the 1st preferences for SF, and get FG the 2nd seat.

I'm not surprised people like her make claims like that.

But I am surprised that she made the claim given the job she's in. How stupid can you be, did she honestly not foresee a backlash?

She deserves all the ridicule coming her way and more. Hope she loses the claim and gets booted out of office, the chancer.

Late Late poll has Cuffe on the plane to Brussels with 23% ( really he should go in a canoe to save the environment)
Boylan in Dublin wouldnt have the transfer appeal that Daly and other left wing candidates have so she could lose out.
The Mid West shows that you must have good candidates and the two FFs certainly were not. Ming might bite the dust here with the Green winning

I'd love to see that turf smoker crash and burn

I think the reason people still vote for FG is they are marginally the best of a bad lot, even though they are pretty bad. Their competition is FF and hard lefties who still think Venezuala is a socialist paradise.
Its a race to the bottom in Irish politics and we've a bit to go yet.

It's amazing to me that nobody sees the demand amongst the electorate for a party for the workers of Ireland, a genuine worker's party, not the farcical "worker's party" currently in existence.

Those in the Dail are probably too insulated to realise it but surely an outsider would have realised it by now. Even the likes of FG who those on the left will say are only interested in serving the rich etc, the reality is that they have been pandering to the likes of Margaret Cash etc for years now.

Crying shame that there are no real viable alternatives to FG outside of the independent vote.

    Renua?

They’re pandering to the likes of Margaret Cash at arms length thank god.

    Peoole aren’t stupid.

If SF or FF get in its own season for the spongers.

The Green Party vote is huge so far. Very few would have predicted such a vote for them in the North West constituency though. They'll have candidates elected to most local councils now, and the ability to make changes as a result. Who would have thought that a party advocating small local business, sustainability, and a focus on the future of the planet would do so well.

The Greens first steps if they are serious should be to remove the mobile phone masts and stop the building of houses in rural areas. Let's see how that goes!

The Greens are doing well, but like any member of a CC they have feck all power and very little input to policy. Basically useless and that's why I didn't vote in the locals.

They should advocate for the rollout of 5G communications using the existing ESB infrastructure. I'd agree that rural communities need to cluster into village type developments. That's a cultural thing though, and beyond the realm of newly elected politicians.

Not at all, I'm happy to see an FGer loose their seat no matter whether it's local, national or euro but I do know that at CC level they all no matter party allegiance or none are a waste of time and money.
Francis having a bad day I see, Durkan lol, looking bad for Clune aswell.

Who’s gonna compensate the farmers who’s fields will be destroyed using the ESB poles?

    Total disaster.

Isn't 5G after getting banned in Brussels and Geneva until they can investigate it?

Wheelie I genuinely look upon boards as a bit of fun, venting prehaps saying things that may get me a raised eyebrow across the desk in work. I allow myself to loose the run of myself at times I get an infraction sometimes, or a red card etc. But I'm going to be honest with you I have a special dislike for political supporters, I'll tell you why. They love their team no matter what, no matter the damage their team is doing, no matter the hurt their team is causing to the people they are employed by. I could spend ages explaining myself further by why bother. You support FG no matter what and see all criticism as an attack to be defended against. I can't say I admire your loyalty, I have seen the damage loyalty does. However despite everything I do agree with you on something's and have thanked those posts but I will not agree with blind allegiance, it's dangerous.

I suppose 8 years of these utter clowns in power got nothing to do with it either?

Very little. They being in power has minimised it. Not giving them an overall majority at the last election did some harm, but FF have done a sterling job in supporting FG. Credit where its due.

The main problem is the average Irish voter whose blinkered view always regards those in power as clowns. It really doesnt matter what hue of government parties it is, single party, coalition, minority, rainbow, left support, right supported centre, independent propped - the simplistic view sees it all the same because it does not deliver miracles. The more sophisticated view, like mine, and not that many other people in this country, recognises these unrealistic expectations for what they are - unrealistic. And that the ability of the Irish to govern is very low. But just because it is low, it doesnt mean those in power are crap, and should be turfed out. Only the really naive follow the delusion that because those in power arent doing a great job, those who arent doing it, are the solution.

Its problematic. But the bottom line is that the Irish get the low performing governance they vote for, and that reflects the overall ability of the nation for self government.

    Never once defended her.

So you’re point is wrong straight away.

Cheers though you are a prize example of blind party allegiance, I can find your carbon copy on a thread extolling the values of FF, Labour, Greens etc etc. Depressing tbh.
